Madzilla Talks of New Music And the Honesty of It All!
Metal go getters MADZILLA delivery quite the punch, with their mix of metal goodness. With that said, the band has gone on to release some content since their formation. All new music is also in the works with the band hoping to play live shows again soon. The band goes on to talk of all of this if not more so.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Madzilla started as a project David Cabezas (Band Leader) had. Officially launching in 2018, the band delivers a hefty mix of melodic, classic thrash-metal, reminiscent of the likes of Megadeth, Metallica and Iron Maiden.
An unfortunate car accident in 2010, in which David Cabezas lost a great childhood friend, lead to the creation of the band’s earliest single “Judgment Day”, a song dedicated to the final moments of life, and the loss of a loved one.
Having a few song written, David felt the need to get this ideas and feelings heard, which lead to the creation of the Madzilla LV. Madzilla LV are David Cabezas (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Daniel Gortaire (Bass/Background Vocals), David Oliveri (Guitar/Background Vocals), and Robert Wiggin (Drums).
The Band recently toured alongside Max Cavalera’s Metal Legends “Soulfly”, in February 2020.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
“Madzilla” is a metaphoric representation of the dark side of human nature. It represents the need to rule, and the unstoppable search for power that can take over a person’s mind. “Madzilla” itself is an insane version of the fictional monster “Godzilla”. “Godzilla” is a wild animal , therefore he hunts and kills for survival. “Madzilla” on the other hand enjoys blood and destruction, and kills and destroys for its own rise to power.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Madzilla LV is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The local Metal Scene here is good. There are several venues that often have metal shows booked, and there is very good response from audiences around the city. Las Vegas being as entertainment driven as it is, gives a wide variety of opportunities to local bands to perform and get good amounts of exposure. There are several local bands we recommend to go see, but to list a few, Cirka Sik, Mastiv, and Minas are our favorites.
4. How would you describe your style?
We like to play fast and heavy. But we are also very melodic. Since we all have quite extensive musical backgrounds, the combinations of our influences creates a hefty mix of classic thrash metal and melodic heavy metal.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We had our first formal release as Madzilla in the summer of 2019, a 6 song EP named after our main single “Vengeance”. We have since then released 2 music videos featuring songs from the EP. You can expect fast, heavy riffs, joined by enjoyable harmonies, melodies, and guitar solos.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, of course! We are always working on new stuff. The Madzilla Train never stops!
7. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
One of the things we enjoy most is playing live shows. We love the interaction with fans, it’s the main reason why we do this. x abTouring is definitely in Madzilla’s future.

9. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
We are a very honest band. Our lyrics, in a metaphorical way, talk about real life issues and experiences. We play how we feel, and we hope we can help you feel, and enjoy as well!
10. Tell us a bit more about the new video & where we can find it.
Being a Las Vegas based band, we are of course surrounded by desert. We thought it was fitting to have our video shoot out there, where it feels like home. The video features our latest single “The Last Goodbye”. The Last Goodbye describes the frustration that arises when trapped in one’s own world. The inability to see the light when surrounded by it, fixating on the bad, will completely erase all the good. When every night carries the same pain, ‘The Last Goodbye’ represents giving in to this limitless sorrow.
