August 2020

Hard rock band GHOSTS OF SUNSET have a current single, with a follow-up single expected this fall, along with the release of their debut EP "Headed West". Aside from all of this though, the band is hard at work on all new material as well. The band will go on to say lots more about their music and themselves.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Ghosts of Sunset was an idea that my partner John Merchant had. He had the thought of doing a concept album of a fictional Midwest/East Coast band that had gotten too big for their city and wanted to take their chances in Hollywood! He asked myself (Todd Long) to be a part of it. John and myself had been in band together since we were in high school. It was a no brainer to jump aboard!
John Merchant is singer/songwriter from Michigan and I (Todd) am an Alaskan transplant of recent.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We got our name “Ghosts of Sunset” from the long history of the Sunset Strip artists in Los Angeles, California. We love the hard rock of the 1980’s and that is what we are based off of but there is so much more history then that. The Doors, The Byrds, Jackson Browne etc!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any                   local bands you could recommend?

The band is split up into two different areas right now. John is in Ludington, Michigan and I am in Anchorage, Alaska. We do all of our writing via file sharing. There are some band from Alaska that have went on to do some great things. 36 Crazyfists and Portugal The Man come to mind. I don’t really see or hear of an “Original” band scene here . A ton of places to play cover band shows though.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style is in the realm of the late 1970's to mid 1990's hard rock. We definitely love the hard rock sound so that just sort of flows out of us! We both grew up in that era so it is very inspirational. We try to put a modern take on it but what comes out comes out. We try to think about it but we don’t want to overthink it!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We just signed a deal with GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS out of Australia. Our first single “Miles In-Between" is getting some good response and we are trying to capitalize on that the best we can, although Covid-19 has hindered everything! The second single “Never Goodbye” drops on October 12th! The E.P titled “Headed West” will come out on November 13th!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are currently writing songs for our second release and have two songs written and recorded for that! We are hoping that our first release does well enough that Golden Robot will pick us up for a second one!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

With the pandemic upon us we are kind of in a holding pattern. In our contract it talks about touring so we are hoping that we will be able to get out and play some shows. There was discussions about doing fly in dates and opening for bigger named acts. I guess we will see!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Right now it’s just writing new material and trying to stay up on our game as much as we can!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube, Soundcloud. Search for Ghosts of Sunset on all of  the usual spots for streaming.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for                       the first time?

It’s music that takes you back to a time when music was fun! Has that old vintage feel with a modern twist!

ESCAPE THE FATE releases their new song and music video for “Walk On.” The song will be on their forthcoming album, due out in 2021, and the track is featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming Better Noise Films’ movie, SNO BABIES.

“Walk On” is a rock anthem that builds on the classic ESCAPE THE FATE sound, with catchy vocal melodies, huge guitars, and driving drums.   “Lyrically the new single is a message of positivity,” lead singer Craig Mabbitt says. "‘Walk On’ is a song about recovery, about not giving up when things seem impossible to overcome, it’s always darkest before the dawn and you just need to hold on until the sun rises. Walk on.”ADAPTING TO COVID 19  The music video for “Walk On” DRAWS ON footage of ESCAPE THE FATE’S past live performances, along with MOVIE footage from the upcoming Better Noise Films debut FEATURE FILM release SNO BABIES.  SNO BABIES message mirrors that of the track, portraying how easy it is to fall into a pattern of substance use.

The new single is ESCAPE THE FATE’s first release in over 2 years since 2018’s "I Am Human". Check out the track HERE.

American Melodic Death Metal band Crushing Force released their debut EP «Remnants of Devastation». The release was recorded/mixed and mastered by Bill Tash at "Tash Studios".

https://crushingforce.bandcamp.com/releases

Crushing Force was formed in 2016 at Rochester, New York by Bill Rotach (guitar, bass, drums) as a one man band. The band originally started out as instrumental background music for video games, but then turned their texts to the war, destruction and post apocalypse theme.

Two-man child band HERCULES MULLIGAN has kindly asked that you dance to their music! With that, they have released a handful of songs, with many more single's set for release soon enough. The band goes on to say much more, about their formation, music style and furthering plans.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We (Ben Gaston & Trent Tyler) have been playing music together since we were 15 years old since we were kids in Eastern Washington state, and Hercules Mulligan is our most recent and certainly most complete musical creation together.  We recently looked up and realized we've somehow become 31 year olds.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We’d been kicking around some band names for a while but none of them really felt right.  Then, this past fall, we took our significant others to Hamilton in San Francisco, and the moment that the chorus belted out “Hercules Mulligan” we looked at each other and laughed cause we simultaneously said, “that’s a great band name.”  We’d never heard of Hercules Mulligan (he’s a side character in the musical Hamilton), and when we went home and did more research on the actual historical figure, we liked it even more.  He’s this relatively unknown, but surprisingly influential historical character that had his fingerprints on the early stages of the development of American democracy, the movement to abolish slavery, and supposedly saved George Washington’s life a couple of times with the intelligence he gathered as a spy.  Interesting character, strong band name.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based out of San Francisco and Oakland.  It’s a surprisingly small, but very cool local music scene with cool venues and great people.  We’re big fans of our friend Sami Freeman’s music - she’s an awesome singer/songwriter/composer and we were lucky enough to get to feature her vocals on our first single, Blocking The Door.

4. How would you describe your style?

We’d like to think we’d get a roster spot for playing in front of a side door at a three-ring circus housed within Coachella.  Our inspirations are all over the map, but I think if you made a salad with early 2010's indie pop like MGMT, STRFKR, and LCD Soundsystem, mixed it together with some Tears For Fears, Tom Petty, and Neil Young, then topped it off with a little bit of Chic and Hall & Oates, you're probably pretty close to what we're going for.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

In order of release, we’ve released six songs to date (Blocking The Door, Kinda Man, Dad Man, I’ll Find You, My California, Hermosa Henry).  Our most recent release, Hermosa Henry is the track we feel best sums up

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we’re releasing our next single, Hold On To Me, on September 2.  We have three more singles that will be released by the end of the year, culminating in the release of our debut album.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had a slate of shows scheduled in the San Francisco Bay Area and a planned West Coast tour.  That has all been put on hold, but we’ve been taking the opportunity to start working on new material and honing our very rough DIY video production skills. :)

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We hope to get to the point we can start playing the musical festival circuit within the next year or two, but regardless of how that pans out, we plan to create music together for the rest of our lives.  This band is a vehicle for our shared vision of writing fun music and throwing a rocking dance party for anyone who wants to join.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to us on Spotify, YouTube or any other online streaming service. We don’t have any official merch for sale yet, but if you want some, send us a message on Instagram and we’ll figure out a way to get something to you. :)

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Hopefully nothing - we’d prefer they are too busy grooving to be taking notes.

Pop punk, easycore, emo band THE INTERROGATION was formed barely in 2019, but since they have had quite the origin story, and being based out of Canada they have a lot to discuss. The band discuses much including their music content and other plans for the year.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The Interrogation was formed in Vancouver Canada in the summer of 2019.  I (Thom Turner guitarist/band leader) was going through a great deal of grief following the death of my mother the previous December.  I sought solace as I have always done, in songwriting.  What came out is our new EP that features our new single “Summer Love (In Hell)”.  After having put together 4 songs that dealt with love and loss, anger and confusion, I sent out the demos to my good friend and recording engineer Kevin Billingslea (https://kevinbillingslea.com/) to see if it was worth pursuing.  He came back in a big positive way and so The Interrogation was alive!

I am a 20 year veteran of the music scene.  Touring all over my home country of the USA I eventually scored a gig with Freya, which featured the legendary Karl Buechner (Earth Crisis/Path of Resitance)!  A dream 10 years ensued.  Tours and two albums, the latest one “Grim” featured Dirk Verburen of Megadeth/Soilwork fame.  Needless to say recording and touring is in my blood.  So, when it came to putting a band together I was lucky to have so many great people/players to go with.  I immediately asked my long time friend Nik Eason to play drums.  He and I grew up together in Oswego NY and his chops are WORLD CLASS.  From there we filled out with Ridge Bernosky on guitar, A.J. Pisczcz on Bass and James Kang for live Vocals.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

This is a great question.  When I was first starting out in music I was completely addicted to two things,  Coheed and Cambria and Large scale concept albums by bands like Dream Theater, Armor for Sleep, Spocks Beard, Pink Floyd etc.  All of this music had story telling at its core.  Above all that is what I like in songwriting.  So at 19 I began to write a 3 album 30 song concept record called The Interrogation.

It centered around the confusion and hyper emotionality I was going through at that age.  An unrequited love story between a homeless boy and the very normal person he was hopelessly in love with.  The naeme The Interrogation came about because the story was told from the point of view of the boy being interrogated about the events that cover the story of the album.

When these new songs came about I realized they shared a lot of the same themes.  I felt as helpless and confused as I did then but now in my thirties and about real like tragedy.  Just as then I HAD to make this music so what better a name than The Interrogation.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I am based out of  Vancouver Canada while the rest of my band is in the USA some on the west coast some on the east.  It is a truly modern layout of a band.  I write tunes and we share them around and by the end, finished product.  Now, that we are in Covid and the boarder is closed it makes things interesting to be sure but, nothing can stop us making music!  The scene here in Vancouver is interesting.  I grew up in the hardcore scene in New England.  I could have played a show every night of the week all over the states.  Tiny scenes of all ages venues all strung together was the way.  Here in Canada the markets are stretched out all across the country.  Things are very far apart and here in Vancouver there are so many bands but almost no venues for all ages or really any original music of the rock variety.  Still so many locals here in Vancouver like Altona,  The Hallowed Catharsis and The Noodle Boys are making really fresh, varied and interesting music.  Obviously with the current health crisis performances are a long way off but we cannot wait to join the fray up here in Vancouver.

4. How would you describe your style?

We would definitely fall into the pop punk/ easycore/ emo crowd.  A lot of our inspiration comes from bands like Coheed, A Day to Remember, Armor for Sleep, Four Year Strong, pretty much anything that was ever on the warped tour stage but, also bands with heavy riffs and big clean choruses.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released two singles, first “Kick It Off” which is a humanistic call to arms in a time of great struggle.  Our newest single “Summer Love (In Hell)” released July 31st is a big summer rock song for people who hate summer.  Our music is all about deeply emotional lyrics, crunchy riffs and big sing along choruses.  That’s what we like and want to share with everyone.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

September 25th our full EP entitled "Posters On My Wall" will be released on all platforms!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Obviously with the health crisis performances are definitely on hold.  That said we are working with The Wavelink Agency for booking as soon as it becomes a possibility.  We are aiming at all the Americas,  US, Canada and Mexico!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We are already writing for our next EP which we hope to be out sometime in 2021!  We want to finally get out and play and hang out with the people.  In a time when we are all so isolated and fearful The Interrogation wants to help bridge some gaps and let people have fun!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I want them to remember that we as people can grow and still be able to respect and remember who we were when we were younger.  We can have fun with our friends and stage dive while eating pizza as well as deal with incredibly heavy emotional situations that life will give us.  It is the blending of the sour and the sweet that makes life vibrant. Thank you for allowing me to do this interview!

Hybrid metal band ONE OF THE LAST began not that long ago, making a genre that was their own combination of sorts. A few song's have been released thus far, with more already to be recorded and released soon enough on future works. As of now, is for them to get together, work things out and create music so all can hear it. The band talks of all of this and more below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We started in late 2016 from an ad by Parker (guitarist). Mario (guitarist) was the first to answer that ad and after a few jam sessions, they knew they had something special. They were looking for more members to round out the band and Mario previously worked with Tripp at a clothing store. He tried out on bass and it clicked again. We found our drummer Brian from another ad and he clicked as well. The 3 of us were looking for a vocalist and after a few auditions, we found John on a music website. We brought him in and he fit perfectly with us! Unfortunately, Brian left the band in February but the four of us have been moving forward ever since.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The origin of the name is still unknown as to who came up with it. We jokingly tell everyone that the name is our mentality with music. This band will be “one of the last” attempts at making music our career!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re from Brooklyn NY so with everything in NYC, it’s all competitive. Not with other rock/metal bands in the area but NYC has about 1,000 events happening every day. From sports to comedy to plays to even trivia nights at bars, you’re against all of those events. That’s why some of the toughest and most determined bands come out of NYC/NJ. Those bands include Deadtide, Arc, Save the Broken, Stereo Jo, Monument of a Memory and every other band that’s been around for a while.

4. How would you describe your style?

Hybrid Metal is the genre we play. Instead of saying we play a mix of hard rock, metalcore and thrash metal, we keep it at Hybrid Metal. Too many people have listened to our songs and said, “You said you were x genre but I don’t hear it at all”. Well, now we’re Hybrid Metal and ANYTHING we play falls under that umbrella!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

There are currently 3 songs released (Determined, Shotgun, and Wallflower) and we have a few more songs that we were about to record until the world shut down. Our entire philosophy with song writing is to appeal to different people. We’re not a traditional band nor do we play traditional music. All we want to do is bring people together with our music. Our roots are in hard rock/metal but if we can convert some non-metal fans, that would be awesome. We get quite a number of people telling us “Hey, I don’t normally listen to metal but you guys are great”. That just tells us we’re on the right path!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have about 3 completed songs that are ready to record and about 15 different demos that we have to add drums to. Our mission would be to release an EP this year with a new drummer or have one of our friends help us out and record drums for us. Either way, we’re going to figure something out!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

The world shutting down hurt us with shows/touring. The only positive would be that we’re meeting a lot of new people on social media from all over the world. We’ve played different states before but maybe we can try different countries depending on what the status for concerts is!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our main goal is to find a drummer right now so we can get these songs ready and recorded. Once that’s complete, we’ll move onto music videos and lyric videos for those songs and more promoting. There’s almost 3 billion active users on Facebook and we only have 10,000 likes. There’s always more work to be done! Once shows are back, we’ll be playing a lot in different markets. If you want to see us live, we’ll try our hardest to make it happen!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We’re on all major streaming services but the easiest place would be our website: (www.oneofthelastband.com/music). Unfortunately, we’re out of shirts at the moment but we’ll revamp our website store as soon as we get some new designs!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

That’s a great question! Just knowing that we’re not a clone of another band is important. I feel that a lot of amazing music is left unheard because the band or a listener says the song sounds like “x band”. If you’re not a fan of “x band”, chances are you won’t listen to it, even though, the music could sound completely different. For example, someone told us that we sounded like Metallica with Adam Levine on vocals! We don’t hear Adam’s voice at all! Knowing metal heads however, they’ll read Adam’s name (or realize he’s the singer for Maroon 5) and not give us a shot based on some random review. That’s why we say we’re a Hybrid Metal band and that usually intrigues someone enough to check us out. That’s the fine line when it comes to bands. You want people to hear who you’re influenced by but not so much where they compare you to the next “x band”. We don’t want to be the next “x band”, we just want to be One of the Last!

Having formed just after high school back in 2016, SLEEPING AROUND would then take a long break frm 2017 to 2019. Come this time, they would reform, creating, writing, and recording music that would lead to a single with the band writing and recording even more for newer music. Find out what the band had to say about their music and their brief formation below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We’ve all been jamming since 8th grade but the band didn’t truly form until after high school in 2016. We took a long break from 2017-2019 and it wasn’t until this year that we’ve really started putting in time and effort to make this dream a reality.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Haha it actually has nothing to do with sex we just didn’t want to be confined to one genre instead we prefer to “sleep around” with many different ones, mixing different elements so that we don’t get bored. I think sound should be explored openly and freely just like sexually and to be confined into the walls of one genre, one partner, or one form of sexuality is just plain ignorant.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We all grew up in the wasteland known as Iowa City but lots of the members are now based elsewhere around the country and the world. As for the music scene back home it’s tote hosen haha ie completely dead minus our friends at NonGrata who have been putting out some killer metal tracks as of late. We work a lot with their vocalist Joe when we want to beef up tracks and add some screams. Nothing hits harder than a metal breakdown with a strong vocalist with a wide range of screams.

4. How would you describe your style?

We’re all over and have had a hard time settling on “our sound”, I think the best way to convey our style is to think of it as a tree. At the trunk our main mood is a mix of Nu Metal & Emo rap, we all grew up listening to Linkin Park, Korn, & Slipknot who are actually from Iowa. That wave kind died out sadly as the og fans grew older but we want to bring it back by combining the metal elements from the bands we look up to with the melodic rap style of artists like LiL Peep and Juice WRLD.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

"Cigarettes" is hands down the start of our truly professional work using professional sound engineers and studios to deliver a much higher quality piece of art versus our past DIY style. I’m in love with the contrast of hard and soft and I think our music embodies that, softer emo trap versus followed by rock/metal hooks, it keeps it interesting, I would hate for listeners to get bored.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Always, we never stop writing and recording, right now there’s honestly too many songs waiting on standby to drop.

7. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Even before the whole pandemic situation the goal this year was really to establish a strong internet presence and follow in the footsteps of all the DIY Soundcloud rappers and artists we look up to. After that a few tours are in sight followed by some festival appearances in 2021.

8. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

All major streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, etc, but our biggest following is on Soundcloud!

9. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

First and foremost I want people to know they aren’t alone, that they don’t have to suffer all by themselves. We all go through so much bullshit especially growing up now in such a fast and technologically advanced world it’s easy to believe that no one understands you or your suffering but that is simply false and we want to prove it.

10. Tell us about the new single/video.

Cigarettes convey a feeling many of us often become engulfed by, the notion of despair and utter loneliness. At the time I was living in New York City, heartbroken and deeply missing a past love, I began to self isolate and constantly chain smoke all while staring out the window of my small bedroom longing for her. I was always searching for her replacement which led me to operate on much lower frequencies instead of letting the past go and moving forward. However, the moment I stopped searching for new love and focused my energy on just being in love with my own self and being that sense of despair and loneliness slowly began to drift away just like the smoke emitting from the tip of a cigarette blowing away with the wind.

Rock band DEAD FISH HANDSHAKE had burst upon the music scene back in 2011. Since then, they have released a couple of EP's, single's and have their debut album out this fall as well! The band will perform a live pay per view online live stream performance come November, and just promote their album to bits and pieces! The band goes on more to say lots about themselves and the music they make.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Dead Fish Handshake is the brainchild of former Downshallow guitarist Rob Ferreira and former Days Unknown vocalist Matthew Paul. Originally started as an acoustic side project, the band became full fledged after the success of their initial EP "Across State Lines". The EP was in honor of the individual music scenes that Matthew and Rob came from respectively. The first single "changes" proved as a launching point for DFH and soon enough the band was rounded out on a full time basis by Mark Birkelbach (drums) and Darren Furman (bass). After catching the attention of Sevendust guitarist and producer Clint Lowery, The band took an immediate step up with the release of their sophomore EP The Sixes. A national tour followed as well as numerous opening slots with Stone temple Pilots, gobsmack, skillet, queensryche, six AM, stabbing westward, living color and collective soul. After those tours came the release of 4 additional singles...nothing stays gold, all time low, Devolution and love/remains. After a year of downtime the band has returned with a brand new LP, "lies...and all that jazz" slated for a September release date.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The band name was taken after a meeting with a crooked lawyer who was only interested in getting paid. His dead fish handshake at the end taught us what would be a very important lesson in insincerity in the music industry.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of NJ and RI. All music scenes have been dying. To be able to stay at the top of our scenes has been very satisfying.

4. How would you describe your style?

We are an active rock band that focuses on dynamics and melody. We can go from the heaviness of Soundgarden to the balladry of u2 with a little bit of Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails mixed in for good measure. We aim to pay homage to iconic rock bands while maintaining a modern taste.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 2 EPs. 4 digital singles and our first LP is slated to come out on 9/18. We also offer a free Xmas acoustic download to our fan base every year.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our new album is available 9/18 and the lead single "no ones island" has garnered radio play at select active rock radio stations.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have a series of live stream pay per view performance slated for November on our media channels.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We plan to begin writing and recording new music in early 2021

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

The band can be heard on all major streaming platforms and merch can be bought at www.deadfishhandshake.com.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We want the listener to remember the emotional journey that our songs bring them through and remember that pain doesn't last forever. There's hope out there and there is strength in numbers. Darkness always gathers around the light and we all control our own switch.

Barely formed just last year in 2019, the band known as FATALITY takes on the nu-metal genre to create their own styling that stands out above all the rest. Since formation, they have released an EP or two, with touring to follow. Plus all new music in the works currently, frontman vocalist Josh Abbott goes into talks about all of this and more!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Fatality was formed in 2016 by Josh Abbott (vocals), Gareth Brimley (guitar) and ex-drummer Chris Batson with our first EP being released in the same year. We performed at Asylum, a legendary Chelmsford venue for the release and raised £200 for the SNAP charity from merch and CD sales. In 2017 we recruited bassist Matt Shynn and subsequently recorded our second EP which we released in 2019. We did a small tour of the ‘Prey’ EP in aid of MIND and raised over £500 this time. In November 2019 we parted ways with drummer Chris and joined forces with Jordan Maze who now completes our current lineup. Since his recruitment in late 2019 we’ve written and performed a new set of tracks with Jordan as well as some Fatality originals. We played our first show with Jordan on a live stream in Summer 2020.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We’re all huge video game fans so when it came to trying to come up with a name we were coincidentally playing one of the all time greatest games ever Mortal Kombat. One of us won a fight and when the words ‘FATALITY’ flashed up on the screen in blood I said “That would make a good band name” and it stuck!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based in Chelmsford, Essex and we all come from there and the surrounding towns. The Essex music scene is very hit and miss in all honesty. We’ve played some really busy shows and, in our earlier days, some not so busy shows. That being said the music scene in Essex just before the lock down was in the middle of a resurgence. With the return of the Essex Metal 2 The Masses Bloodstock competition, things in the grassroots scene have been really picking up.

In regards to local bands we’ve worked with there’s loads of really good bands in Essex. If I were to name some I would be running the risk of missing some names out so I apologize in advance for that. The ones we’ve worked with recently would be bands like Unit 33, Walk In Coma, Bearfist, FyreSky, Beneath The Embers, Spidervayne, Gallow Wood, Mr Happy Chainsaw, Counties. There’s so many more amazing bands in the local scene that I could name but there just isn’t enough space on a page!

4. How would you describe your style?

I’d say that we take influences from Nu-Metal, Metalcore, Heavy Metal and Hip-Hop, throw it all together and add a bit of groove in there. Then imagine the energy of a thousand suns packed into a small tupper ware box. That would be the best way I can describe what we do. To form your own opinion you’d have to listen to our material.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have self-titled a 3 track EP released in 2016, the ‘Prey’ EP (7 tracks) that was released in 2019 and 2 singles, Put ‘em up LIVE and Juggernaut (accompanied by a music video), that were released this year with our current lineup. With more to come in the next few months. When listening to our music you can expect crunchy guitars, popping bass lines and an all out attack on the drums, all topped off by a hard hitting, powerful vocal.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We definitely have new music in the works. We have a few tracks that are ready to be released and a load of new material that we’re constantly working on and refining. ’The Lesson’, ‘Indemnify’ and ‘Eight’ will be released over the next few months with the idea that we will accumulate these and more tracks into a 3rd EP/Album at the end of the year ready for when live music is back.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Well, at the moment we’re unable to play unless there’s a completely reduced capacity which isn’t what we’re all about so the simple answer is no. As soon as we’re allowed to perform in indoor venues/outdoor venues or at festivals then we will be tirelessly booking and performing at shows again.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Keep doing what we enjoy doing. Writing tunes that we all enjoy to play, performing passionately for our audiences and having a damn good go at smashing through all and any glass ceilings that come before us.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can catch us on Bandacamp, Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer as well as YouTube and as far as I’m aware, pretty much any streaming company out there! Just search Fatality Band UK and you’ll find us.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Simple. We’d like any first time listener to remember a sense of enjoyment and connection. That’s what music is all about to us so we want to share that feeling with anyone and everyone.

U.K. five piece CORONATION KINGS is an alternative indie rock band, whose time together has been brief but well spent. During this time, they have released their debut album, and are hard at work upon their follow-up album along with other projects too. The band goes into discussion about their style, covid, and music of course!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We are 5 friends that have known each other for many years as members of different bands. Paul and Mark in the Buster James Band, Frank in the Frank Morrow band, Richard in JOY and John in UK Blondie.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

John the Bass player came up with it.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We play around Norwich and in Norfolk and Suffolk. We live in Lowestoft, Beccles and Norwich. There is a good local music scene maintained by (Paul) at the Club Uniquity in Somerleyton, The Room (run by H) in Gt Yarmouth and The waterfront in Norwich.

4. How would you describe your style?

Anthemic and we play in 2 styles one being more alt rock orientated which is loud and powerful and the other being acoustic alt rock (more folk perhaps).

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Our debut Album “Cathel & Me” is a full-on alt rock album with big songs on it. Easy to listen to and quick to catch on. We also have some live footage on the internet and some acoustic works.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes we are currently recording a 2nd album in an acoustic style. New songs and new projects.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Covid put paid to the great plans we had for summer 2020 but we are looking forward to 2021 and whatever that may bring.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

To complete and release our 2nd album by 2021 and enjoying playing together at any given opportunity.

YouTube, Facebook, Amazon, HMV, Spotify, Soundcloud etc.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Melody, lyrics and power and of course any emotions the listener experiences during the track.

British singer/songwriter CHLOE CHADWICK has a country, rocker edginess to her, with such an array of content it's flawless and truly endless. She just released her newest single this month, with much more content to follow. For now, Chloe herself does the talking in term's of her music, start, and where she wants this career to take her next.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members

I have always performed live with musicians and bands, because I’m a singer/songwriter I don’t necessary have a fixed band I play with. The beauty of my style of music is that sometimes I perform shows entirely on my own, sometimes with a musician or 2, and sometimes if I really wanna kick some ass, I will go with a full band! Everyone I have worked with over the years on stage has been a pleasure to work with and I’ve been really lucky to play with some outstanding and talented musicians across the world, all of whom I still keep in touch with today, because my music and performances would be nothing without the live band experience! In terms of where i started out, I learnt to play the guitar at the age of 10, I started writing very early on too, music resignated me since I was a child, we always had music playing around the house and I was hooked! And so when I was old enough to travel, I took my guitar with me and ended up performing all across Europe, just me and my guitar, and that's how I started my career! Since then it's been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, but I wouldn't change my musical path for anything. I've never been handed anything on a plate, I've always had to work hard and learn fast in the music industry, and I'm proud of sticking with it and becoming the artist I am today.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name is me, Chloë Chadwick, I thought about changing my name for years, but then this is who I am, you can’t get anymore personal than that, so I’m pleased I kept my band name as my actual name, it offers a personal approach I think!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?

I am from the north west in England just south of Manchester. Until COVID-19 the music scene was always vibrant in the cities all over the UK. The UK created some of the best music ever written and venues to ever play on, the list goes on for British legends and bands. We have some really cool music venues here which emerging acts and big artists perform on, I've had the pleasure of playing a few, however there’s always more to consider and hopefully I will be able to play them in the future! The Brits love our live music and so I dont think even COVID-19 will get in the way of people wanting to go to festivals and music venues, sure some venues will not overcome what has happened and that's really sad, but the future is bright and I'm sure things will move forward from here!

Are there any local bands you could recommend? Yeah of course, the problem is sooo many people are making music nowadays it's hard to pin-point the best! I’m currently listening to a band called ‘Cassia, who are 3 local lads from just outside of my town, they perform a cool surf soft indie/pop vibe, it’s been great for my self isolation garden BBQ playlist! Happy and positive music. So yeah, check them out!

4. How would you describe your style?

It’s always a tough one to be asked this, my style has a multitude of textures and sounds and always has had ever since I started writing music. I’ve always been a commercial writer, and I believe I developed this from my interest in the Beatles music. I have quite an eclectic music taste from pop to rock, country, to reggae, to heavy rock and metal to even dance! And so I don’t like to really categorize my music as such, but it definitely has that country pop rock flair of which comes naturally to me when I write. I always write a song with an acoustic guitar and build the song up from there, so roots music has always been where my strengths lie. Writing country music in England is also challenging as it's not as appreciated over here as it is in the US and that’s what I like, a good challenge! Shania Twain succeeded over here right? Where there's a will there's a way!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I released 3 singles and an album back in 2017 of which hit the UK country charts. The album had mainly elements of country, folk and pop/rock. The album was me doing what I wanted with the songs I had written regardless of the outcome, there was no real plan to how the album was going to sound. I didn’t want to write or record songs for a specific genre, or to please anyone but myself, I love every second of it and I love seeing a song I've written come to life in the recording stages, there's no better feeling I've had, than the achievement of bringing a song to life! What you can expect from my music is someone who doesn't take life to seriously, but at the same time, I do like to write about my life, other people's lives, subjects with meaning and relatable experiences, because nine times out of ten, there's always someone who has always experienced what you have. My gift is to share stories through song and it's a gift I like to embrace with people all over the world. That's what I love to do! I would also say my music is fun, raw at times, expressive, and most of time you can tap your feet or get up and dance to it! I'm not ashamed to say I've danced to my own music on more than 5 occasions whilst cooking dinner haha! Luckily enough my fiance likes my music too, otherwise I would be in the dog house.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes I have just released my new single ‘Devils Game’ on 14th August! Exciting times! You can listen to it on all online streaming platforms! The single in particular shows a more serious side to my songwriting, of which is a true story about a woman who decides to take her own life as a result of a gambling addiction. It's an awful story, yet one that I felt connected with in some way. Not that I've gambled myself, but I have been in a previous relationship with someone who had a gambling and alcohol addiction which inevitably tore the relationship apart. Writing about this awful story was tougher than any song I've ever written because for one, the story is based on true events, and two, it feels like added pressure to tell a story of someone else's life and the tragic end of which she left behind her family. However to turn it into a song that people can enjoy, yet empathize with, or even relate to, was something I felt strongly about. The subject is more poignant than ever and I hope my single can help spread the awareness of female suicide, and addiction in all forms.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Things have been difficult to plan with COVID-19, although I’ve taken part in some online streams to maintain and touch base with my fans whom I love, it’s been difficult to organize some live shows to coincide with my single release. Having said that, the future's looking brighter as each day gets better, and performing is what I miss and do best. I’m sure there will be some new shows organised for the not so distant future once our venues and festivals are all back up and running. So watch this space!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I never try to think too far ahead.  But I shall certainly be writing music, releasing music and doing what I love best!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen via all social media streams and you can buy physical CDs of my music via my website  - https://www.chloechadwick.com

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The lyrics, and the story behind the music, because there always is one! More importantly, grab a glass of wine, or your partner, and enjoy the sounds of 'Chloe Chadwick', Thanks so much xx.

Rock, grunge, alternative go getters SUPERLUNG formed not very long ago, releasing a couple of song's already, with more newer music in the works currently. They plan to just write music and enjoy doing what they do best as musicians. The band goes on more or less to say how they came together and their music of course.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

SuperLung was found in late 2018 in the Industrial City of Mankato, Minnesota. Ex- members of Guy Smiley recruited Ex-members of the bands Pushrod, Diskord, Almost There, and Revilwen to join up and start an original rock band. We started to jam and write together when we realized that we really enjoyed the process and that we should take it to the level of playing out. After our first show at the famed Mankato’s The What’s Up Lounge we decided to make it a full time gig and start writing for a new album and continue to play live shows, with the pandemic, that has put a hamper on live shows but we have a full album written and are hoping to get into the studio in late 2020.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The origin of the name SuperLung is actually very interesting. Our bass player Forrest Wilkes and myself Jeff Zimmerman - Zimmy (Singer) met in the US Navy in 1993 while in Palau, Sardegna - Italy. We played in a band over there called Pushrod and we became such great friends that we vowed to make a band when we got out. 20 some years later, Forrest is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and we are in Minnesota but he flies in for rehearsals and shows. The name stemmed from a joke we used to call our friends that smoked cigarettes among other things, 44 Slackjaw SuperLungs (No Idea how it got there). Originally that was going to be the name but we decided to go with SuperLung since it was easier to say and rolled off the lips.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

SuperLung is based out of the South Central Minnesota City of Mankato. The music scene is quite diverse in Mankato, we have all genres of music here and all artists support one another regardless of genre, which is great for a city over 50,000 people. It is often referred to as Little Minneapolis. Angry Waters is a great local rock band to check out from Mankato.

4. How would you describe your style?

All of our members come from different backgrounds of music. Hardcore Punk, Metal, Nu Metal, Hip Hop, Rock, we all have very diverse tastes. SuperLung’s sound can be traced back to the Seattle Grunge Invasion of the early 1990’s. We are influenced by Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and 311.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released a few songs digitally. Songs like Sweet Sue which was written about a members all too brief relationship with a stripper to the song Gotta Let Go, which is a song about needing to let go of something or someone you love due to things becoming toxic. These are both up on our Spotify.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We do have new music in the works. We have a full album of new stuff written and ready to record. New songs such as Destined to Rise, a song written and dedicated to Zimmy’s late father Gary, to the song Deal, which delves in the problems facing our country and societies across the world. Another song is called The Ones, it is about change in life and rolling with the punches in the most positive way you can.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We, like most bands, have had to cancel our tour dates for the remainder of 2020 due to the COVID crisis. We plan on recording in late 2020 so we have an album to tour on in 2021, granted we feel safe in doing so.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We are going to continue to write music and enjoy doing it. We will play shows when they are again a viable option. Mostly, we just want to have fun with each other and take it day by day, we want people to like our music and help us continue to do what we love to do, make good music.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We are up on most digital platforms. But our primary places to listen to our stuff is Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/artist/019K5kGk9kQxQR3nEbG0sW?si=WHJXdtuORFiC-CGQyII6aQ. We also have music on our Reverbnation site for free download right now. https://www.reverbnation.com/superlung. You can also check us out on Facebook and Iheart Radio.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We want the listener to enjoy our music and look deeper into the story of the song, they are songs but that are also stories of our life experiences. Know that we come from humble roots and are a working class rock band that wants you to come along on the journey with SuperLung, after all, the fans are what allow us to do what we love, and we appreciate each and every one of you! Much Love!!

Ska/punks OPERATION OFFBEAT mix things up with not just ska/punk but 2tone, reggae, and more punk to make a fast yet alarming sound that is truly their own. With this they have a couple of releases under their belts, with much more content underway! The band got together to talk about their music and plans ahead.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

It was roughly four years ago, that I left my then-band The Crooners after a disastrous gig in London and moved on to put a rather rocking band together. on to put a rather rocking band together. I was so keen on climbing up the greasy pole in the UK, that I commuted for auditions until there was a decent line-up- if it works, it isn’t crazy! ( That story has been visualized in the music videos for ‚Power and dominion‘ and ‚Me me me‘, to be released august 2020. ) Roughly two years followed, during which Operation Offbeat gigged wherever they were allowed to in the UK and Germany; doing the pubs and clubs, but also highlights such as supporting The Toasters, Roddy Radiation, Chico Trujillo
or attending the Specialized fest in Dorset. Then came Brexit and thinned the line-up of the band, which had members from all over the world, chasing one or the other back to where they came from… Then came Corona and swiped away what was left. But. Also along came The Animal Farm. There wouldn’t be gigs in the foreseeable, but there was a bunch of proper Ska’n’Roll tunes- and the will to get them out there. I had moved the band -or what was left of it- back to Hamburg at the time, went through the whole ad-audition-cry a lot-start all over again- routine one more time, and along came the current line up:

Max Beeger - Git / Voc
Eike Twesten - Git / Voc
Richard Smith - Bass
Tobi Vervoorst - Drums
Johannes Witte - Bari Sax
Carina Rieper - Alto Sax

Making use off all available technology from Zoom to Pro Tools, we managed to track down 10 new skanking and rocking tunes that you can listen to on ‚Your idea of luck‘. And whenever the gigs come back- we’ll be there!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The Operation Offbeat is basically the crazy idea of commuting between two countries, for the sake of playing in a pub band, using cheap flights and couch surfing. It’s also the spy chase we follow in the "Power and dominion"/‚Me me me‘ videos, in which I embellished my travels a bit and also quoted a few of my favorite films, as I’m a movie maniac.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based in Hamburg / Germany, which has a small, but fine Ska scene- new in the game are these fine people: https://www.facebook.com/sickleavemusic/. All but new, rather good old friends are https://www.facebook.com/K-MOB-107919842571140/ …and should you come here, you should check out https://www.facebook.com/monkeysclubhamburg , a great place, run by a dedicated team of people who live, eat and breathe Ska, Punk and the like!

4. How would you describe your style?

We’re mixing fast 2tone Ska with down-to-earth Rock and Roll- and add some sweet melodies here and there, plus spaghetti western soundtracks.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Our first album "Prologue" and the vinyl 45’ "Fire/Ten days off" will be back on Spotify soon, meanwhile you can get them on our Facebook. Our current album "Your idea of luck" is available on all major streaming platforms!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we’ve got an album written that we plan on recording later this year and release in early 2021.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Due to Corona regulations we do not have any shows in the diary at the moment, but we’re in touch with promoters and other bands who’d like to gig with us, to make sure we’re ready when it all starts again!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

A gig in New York. Also meeting the greats and the yet unknown greats of the scene, meeting people, partying, gigging… Producing together instead of‚each on his own’, staying together as a band, travelling- getting to see a bit of the world and chasing our music ahead of us like a shrieking banshee!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The contrast of sarcastic lyrics and the pure joy of life within the music!

Dark rockers MELT have a demo as well as two album's out, with plans to write and record for way more albums, perhaps even five in total in the next couple of years. The band just wants to create and make more music and that takes time. The band talks of music mainly.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We originally started as a duo when Charlotte, singer guitarist, and I met on October 2007. In chaos and crave we've created the first demos of Melt and Charlotte learned how to play them on the guitar. Then we looked for musicians we felt good with, which wasn’t easy at all, but we finally met Roméo our drummer with was desperately looking for a band with the emotional connection he was looking for, and then we had our first gigs. And those first gigs allowed us to meet our bassist, Jux, who came to hear us.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The movie Blade Runner: one night i was thinking of the famous « tears in the rain » scene and it appears to me that the idea of melting into something bigger than you when you die was the essence of what we wanted to do in our music.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Right now we live in the region of Tarn, France, but when the band was playing live before that we were in the city of Toulouse which is a place with a lot of bands, and the scene here is in my opinion very conformist. So i wouldn’t recommend any of them.

4. How would you describe your style?

Hmm… like seeing the end the tunnel, you know? Seeing a light that shows you that yes, you have finally found the exit, it’s close. I don’t know, i have this image. But musically it’s a great mix of rock, metal, pop, atmospheric, kind hard to describe.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 2 albums and a demo. You can expect to be surprised, or shocked, by our singer, because her sincerity is not from this world. You can expect melancholic, powerful and heavy atmosphere.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Melt discography well, if everything goes well, count 4 or 5 albums. For now we have released two of them, so we still have to record two other albums in the next years, and maybe on a third one.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

No, Melt has become a studio project, we’ve been playing shows for 4 years, that was cool but at the end we felt the need to get away from this. Maybe we will be back on stage one of these days but right now it’s not what is planned.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We have to record and release 2 or 3 more albums. Work on the final form of the songs, which takes time.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

https://melt4.bandcamp.com/album/melt-2.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I’d say… I honestly don’t know, it’s not up to me to decide, it’s very intimate. But one thing is certain, it’s that we try to instill rock genre a different inspiration so people can feel themselves and their deepest emotions when hearing it, you can remember that.

Thought provoking act FATAL SWITCH takes eclectic, heavy, groovy based genre tactics to make their own accordance to how they want to sound. With this they have gone on to release a few single's and a full-length album this summer. Even newer content is in the works, for the next release, with even more music and other plans in the process. The band goes into chatter about themselves and the music they are so proud of to create.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The History of the band is pretty interesting actually. Our first studio album was recorded with mostly studio musicians to support the vocals on the tracks with the exception of the bassist who is my brother and was part of the project from the start. However, shortly after the album was recorded, he moved across the country to take care of our mother which really left me with no musicians to support the album.

Nonetheless I slowly built the band one member at a time. I first found my drummer Ralph A Samah who comes from a family of musicians (his brother is quite the RnB star actually) and knows quite a bit about the industry. Ironically, he recorded his first studio album with the same producer I worked with Kevin Jardine of Uplift Recording Studio.

I found Ralph same way I did our rhythm guitarist Ryann Paqueo and bassist David Vigliotti, through internet ads. But our lead guitarist Max Rope was brought in by Ryann to audition for the part of lead guitar. Once I heard him nail the solo on Doctors & Demons I told him he was in before he had a chance to ask if he made the cut (we still joke about that lol).

I have to say thinking about it now, I find it completely amazing how a group of strangers can get together and unite to bring music to life. It’s been a humbling and powerful experience to get to know these guys who I discovered as strangers but I now call brothers. They have adopted the first album like true professionals and turned our live songs into an entity of their own.  The universe could not have answered my call any better.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Fatal Switch is a term deeply rooted in duality. And this concept has definitely woven itself into our songs beginning with our main character Sian and her alter ego named Hyde (featured in our latest single and title track Doctors & Demons). So, I though the name is inspired by her it definitely extends itself far beyond one character and into a multifaceted statement.

I mean haven’t we all experienced a Fatal Switch at some point in our lives?  And though it can be taken in a negative connotation can it not also be a positive one? Drastic change can be as devastating as it can be uplifting depending on what the change is, so I guess it really all comes down to context and vantage points. And I think that’s the real origin of the bands name. It`s statement meant to challenge our listeners to redefine how they views things.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the city of Montreal in the province of Quebec in Canada.

The Music scene here is quite varied and interesting actually. We have some of the biggest Jazz festivals in the world, an amazing symphony orchestra as well as a very big metal community.

However, there is not much of a hip-hop scene in Montreal which made it very difficult for me to establish myself as a rapper. But as luck would have it, I became friends with a crazy talented metal guitarist in trade school and we started experimenting with throwing my raps on his metal tracks and it worked it out beautifully. Sometimes you have to play to the strengths of your surroundings and be brave enough to try something new even if it doesn’t feel natural at first. And I am so glad that I did!

A couple of bands from Montreal I would highly recommend checking out would be Slaves on Dope and Oliver Forest. Other bands we enjoy are Era 9, The Agonist, Vinyl Hero and Deathproof.

4. How would you describe your style?

I would describe our style as eclectic, heavy, groove based and thought provoking. I tried to keep the integrity of a traditional metal or rock song and put rap lyrics over those styles to try and give this hybrid sound a different perspective. Then I wrote full on stories to go over this varied approach which attempts to add a deeper dimension to the overall sound.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 3 singles so far. Who We Are, Heartless and Doctors & Demons. We also just dropped the full-length album Doctors & Demons August 7th 2020. So far, our 3 singles have had great success. Thanks to our manager Pedro Barbosa they have all been air on national TV through the Stingray Loud channel.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

The band has been working tirelessly to create new tracks for our next studio album that we hope to start recording early next year 2021. Every time we walk into the jam space, we have breakthrough after breakthrough moments and we have all grown tremendously as songwriters by pushing each other to be the best. We truly set the highest standards for ourselves and I really hope that will show on our next record.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

COVID-19. That’s all I can say  Until the world goes back to normal the live momentum is halted. Our last show was a sponsored showcase at Indieweek in Toronto and we had an amazing time.  We were really looking forward to playing festivals and CMW this year as well but we will have to bide our time until the industry can hold large gatherings again.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

More music. Second album is key right now, but in the meantime, we look forward to promoting the first album. Also having really cool chats like this one with awesome people like yourself. Umm… Lyric videos, live performance videos. Social media engagement. That kind of stuff will be on the menu for the next little bit.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Thanks for asking! This is a link to our album https://fatalswitch.fanlink.to/doctors-and-demons. You can stream, save or purchase the album here! We will have our website up and merch store going in the near future as well.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Amazing question. I’d like them to remember that they just heard a story rapped to them over some heavy music. I’d them to remember the emotion the music made them feel even if it was an uncomfortable one. I mean we cover topics from child soldiers, to domestic abuse and even aliens.  So, I guess I’d like them to walk away remembering that they just heard a song that wasn't about how much money I have or how many drugs I sold but that they just shared an experience with me. Kind of like they just watch a mini movie in their minds exit my mind and go into theirs.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to ask us these questions. It’s been an honor and a privilege to have had this interaction with you. You've got an amazing website going and you play such an important part of getting the artist’s work out into the world. Keep being amazing!

AGON is a musical project out of Florida. Since forming, this project has thus far released an album, split, and couple of single's as well. More music is in the works currently, with another album likely to emerge soon enough. The person behind said project Andre Basora, goes into discussion about it.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Agon was created back in 2018 by me, Andre Basora, when I wanted to release some of the music I was writing at the time throughout the past months. I am still the sole and only member of the band in which I write, play, record, produce, and master all of the music myself. But, I would wish to bring in some band members to play shows and tour when this pandemic situation is over.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I found out about the word “agon” when I was trying to find a name for the band using the language of Black Speech because I am a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and Tolkien. As I was browsing through a list of words and phrases, I saw the word “agon” which stands for dawn in the Black Speech language. I liked it and thought it would fit well, so I chose it. Recently, I did some research and I found out that agon is an ancient Greek term that signifies struggle or a conflict. It could be used in many instances such as athletics, literature, or theater, but the use that best suited what I had in mind was the sociopolitical theory where agon can refer to the idea that the clash of opposing forces necessarily results in growth and progress.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of Miami, Florida where the music scene is very far away from the field and genre of metal. The grand majority of music here is Latin pop, reggaeton, and EDM/club music, but there is a growing underground metal scene here in the city. Some local underground bands that help build the metal scene here are Amenorrhea, Choose Death, CRUD, Devalued, Gnosis, Gouge Away, Los Reyez Bong Death, Maedusa, Sapraemia, Shroud Eater, and Torche to name a few. I highly recommend them.

4. How would you describe your style?

My style for Agon is any type of extreme metal that I can fathom up with that can blend different elements and genres together. I like experimentation, psychedelic hints, orchestral elements, and anything out of the box to combine genres and fuse together sounds to create something uniquely Agon.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I have released so far a full length album, a split, a solidary single, and two singles for my upcoming EP that will come out in September. The debut album contained elements of atmospheric blackened doom metal with hints of psychedelia and avant-garde in there, as well as the split with fellow local blackened drone project Choose Death. The upcoming EP contains a complete change of sound as I made the songs a lot harder and punchier with an emphasis on death metal, sludge metal, punk, and grind elements to the songs. This also made the songs turn out a lot shorter being between two to four minutes in length compared to the debut album where the songs were seven to ten minutes long. I plan to have each of my releases and projects be unique in their sounds but still feel like it is Agon.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I have plans to release a second full length album and I have a majority of the music worked out and written for the album. As I stated in the previous question, this album will be a complete change in sound once again and it will contain elements that I have previously used as well as new elements and genres that I have had in mind. I plan to release it by next year.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I plan on playing shows in the future, but the only problem I face is finding band members to join and play my music for those live performances. So far the main plan I have is to release my EP, release some merch, and finish writing my second album. Due to the current pandemic at hand, touring and live shows won’t be in my mind for some time.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

For the future of the band, I plan on creating more music under the name of Agon and go out to play shows around the world. I hope to grow as an artist and a musician throughout the years to make Agon be a household name in the metal underground scene as well as in music in general. A man can only dream, but with great perseverance can a dream become a reality.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Everyone can go listen to my music on a grand majority of streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, Google Music, etc. Search up either Agon, Hollowed Lake, or Engraved Power to find my profiles and releases. The best platform to listen to my music, purchase merchandise, and greatly support me is through my Bandcamp where you can easily find me as Agonmusician. Here is the link to save the trouble: https://agonmusician.bandcamp.com/.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I would like the listener to remember the instrumentation, the power, the atmosphere, the grandiosity, the theme of whichever release they decide to embark on. I want them to remember the feeling they got when listening to my music for the first time. If they keep on listening to my other releases and here the differences between each other, the unique qualities they have among each other, and the diversity that each release has, I would be completely happy and thankful for all of those who love my music and support it. I just really care about my music and its effects on me, and to whomever it resonates with, I thank them for liking my music and supporting my art.
