Having been together since forming back in 2014, Czech rock band CORPULENT PROVOCATEUR have their debut album out, with a couple of single's out as well, including an all new single released recently with new material in the works too! Besides that the band hopes to play shows and tour the world sooner or later! The band expresses themselves so much in the chat below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Three years ago, Josef (lead singer, guitarist) and Jiří (bass player) already had a band, but their drummer decided to leave. So Josef called Tomáš, a drummer he knew from other bands, and kidnapped him out of town. Tomáš was confused, but on receipt of a can of beer and a demo of unreleased songs set to maximum volume, he answered the simple question of "Will you be our drummer or what?“ with a resounding "Yes" and that was it.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The name is based on the name of the shop for fat cowboys in the episode of Simpsons, where Homer is the artist manager of a country singer.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are from the Czech Republic. We live in Pardubice, which is a hundred kilometers from Prague. The music scene around here is pretty cool. There are some talented young bands, like The Atavists and The MayRevolution.
4. How would you describe your style?
Alt rock trio with rapid funk rhythms and a grunge badge printed deep inside.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have one self-released album from 2017. For the current releases we teamed up with The Animal Farm Music in London, where we recorded 4 singles with producers Ville Leppanen and Craig Smith. Three of the singles are currently out, supported by music videos. The fourth, called Test, is out soon. The video is out now! https://youtu.be/kfMFhERwDfo.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, sure. We are constantly working on new material.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Due to the current situation it is not possible. We tour a lot in Central Europe, but all our shows were cancelled. It sucks, because we were to be touring in England this autumn, as well. Neverminded. We'll keep working on the music and looking forward to shows hopefully in a short time.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
In a few years we want to have a world tour with some cool support bands like Foo Fighters, Chili Peppers or Pearl Jam....
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can find us on any streaming platform, like Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music. https://open.spotify.com/artist/26Jh5meWg5eDOUSWBXN8Cv?si=eBZeRIxmQyamFMWG1LPN7w.
Swing by on Facebook to say hi! https://www.facebook.com/corpulentprovocateur.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Hopefully some energy which they can relate to.
