Lure In Goes into Great Discussion on Music, History, and Whats Next!

Metalcore band LURE IN have an EP out, with some single's along with an album as well. But they have also released all new music, including a split release out this spring! The band goes into great discussion about their content, history, and what they have up next.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band started as a bedroom project between myself (Cameron Wilson) & The bassist Jonny Barker in 2018, from there we released our debut EP "Derive" which was 100% self recorded & produced. After the release we wanted to bring the project to a live setting to which our two guitarists Jake Coulson & James Whittle joined the band, as well as our Drummer Sammy Coker, we all then wrote our debut album "Subdued" which again was self produced & recorded by the band, from there in the midst of Lockdowns in 2020 we all kept it contact & started sending audio files at each other & from that we released the "Cynic / Agnostic" two-track, from there it's been a similar approach of sending files to each other & coming up with new ideas.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

A lot of the lyrical content was based around cults so me & our bassist where looking for a name that stuck with the theme as well as making sure there wasn't any other acts with the same name, just we recently a few of our friends bands having issues in regards to sharing Spotify pages with different artists and such, so with those two things in mind, Lure In was the name that stuck.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

So the band are based mainly in Manchester, & with the Manchester scene there's quite a mixed bag of styles, I'd say the main scene here is definitely more indie rock based as we had bands like Oasis, Stone Roses, The Smiths originate from the city, but in the metal side of things where we come from there's definitely an audience & a strong crop of young & up-and-coming bands who are doing really good for themselves. If I'd had to recommend some heavy Manc bands I'd definitely shout out Leeched, Going Off, One Down, Primordial Swarm & Coprocephalic Mutation.

4. How would you describe your style?

I'd say our style is inspired by a lot of early 00's metalcore, with bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, Norma Jean being massive influences, & from there we like to implement different aspects of different genres entirely, such as lobbing in drum & bass breaks, ambient & chaotic soundscapes, noise and post rock guitar elements, & pop production in some respects, definitely a mix of things that can vary song by song.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So we've released one EP (Derive), a Few Singles & A Full Length (Subdued) from 2018 to 2020, the main thing I'd say is just be aware we don't stick to one thing constantly, there's always something different on a song by song bases.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We recently out our new song Blue, that is apart of a Split record with the band Worm Hero, that's set to be released on the 23rd April 2021

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are currently sorting out a run of shows for when live events do come back, but as the plans are still ongoing there's nothing we can publicly announce so far.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

So as mentioned before we want to get a run of shows down in the books and then from there it's just get some more music out, could be a single, could be an EP, could be an Album, however currently the main focus is to get the split record out everywhere & then getting some live shows going.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

All our music is up on all major DSP's (Spotify/iTunes/Apple Music, ETC), not to mention we're up on Bandcamp & YouTube, & if anyone wants to go further we have merch up on our big cartel page.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The one thing that I've seen people say when they first hear us is they don't expect us to sound like we do, or that the song their jamming is different to what's currently out in the music world, so I'd definitely say I'd always want to remember that about their first listen.
