Elemental metal band GORETHRONE have just released their debut EP "The Descenion", with new music already in the works for the next release. So much more is in-store and the band says it all from the chat below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
He started out with a bassist and different singer and we weren't happy with there contribution to the band and fired then both and found our current vocalist Kyle and haven't found a bassist yet. But the current band is Kyle Thomson-vocals, Tony Burnett- lead guitar, Brandon Vargas-rhythm guitar, Zac Wisner-drums.
2.What’s the origin of the band’s name?
We wanted something that oozed darkness and the name Gorethrone gives you images of just the most twisted stuff.
3.Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could
recommend? We are from Grand Rapids Michigan and there is a pretty big metal scene here so we have been able to get a decent fan base and I would recommend WholeHeart and Fire Said The Albatross.
4.How would you describe your style?
Our style has the simple riffs and breakdowns of deathcore with the melodic elements of black metal. The vocal style he also borrows from both and on Acid Bath he dose a little speaking part that was taken from hardcore bands, and the drums are just crazy fast double bass.
5.What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
So far we have just released our EP "The Descenion" but we are planning a full album release later this year. The EP was supposed to be a full length but with line up changes and the pandemic we didn't get as many song done but now we are ready.
6.Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes we already have four written and two more in the process, it's going to be a lot more technical we are playing around with time signatures and we are utilizing the seven string guitars more, we only use them for one song on our EP.
7.How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Right with the pandemic we haven't been able to get many shows but we do have one coming up in August that we're playing with nine other bands.
8.What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We definitely plan on doing a more shows and eventually touring with bigger acts and we are in the process of setting up a show that we making called Gorefest that hopefully will happen yearly if everything goes right.
9.Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to our music on any of the streaming platforms and we have a YouTube channel where made a lyric video for celestial noose and we have some live performances, and we are working on getting CDs and shirts made.
10.What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
That we are an even mix of melodic and heavy so we have the best of both worlds and that i know some people think of deathcore as just heavy dumb riffs but we have a lot more going on then just that.
