ROY NIV was a solo artist as he began his music career alone. Later on finding what would be his fellow band mates. As the band would grow, style would change as well, with them releasing a single of two, then working upon newer music currently with more plans at work! See what Roy himself has to say about his music and what's ahead below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Well, actually I started alone in my attic with a computer and my dad's guitar trying to work something out with the songs that I wrote. When I actually had the song produced with producer THE ANIMAL FARM, then I started grouping the best players I knew from the scene and together we formed an awesome band made just for these songs! It was awesome as everybody just linked with the songs right away and was ready to play them as many times necessary for us to be ready for a show. I never imagined I'd have a band of my own which I could lead and have so much fun with.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
To be honest, I started my music career alone, without bandmates, so I've always presented myself as Roy Niv. When the band came along we just stuck with that name and kept going. We focus on making the audience feel the intensity that the music is aspiring to create. So we agreed my name can stay as the headline while the more important thing is what we actually bring to the stage which is blowing rock n' roll combined with some acoustic melodic vibes.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We based in Israel, which has an awesome music scene. As this country has a collection of so many nationalities, the music scene is wild and got so many different genres going on. You could listen to Mediterranean music one night and rock n' roll the other night. I really enjoy this diversity as I'm inspired by so many different types of music. For example, the oldies of Israeli music really shaped my perception of music, as the newer rock bands here introduced me to the edgy, wild vibe that music can go to. Some great band here are Monika Sex, Aviv Geffen, Dazy's Fasulia, Noam Bettan and many more.
4. How would you describe your style?
My style was shaped through the years as I changed the style of my guitar playing and the music that I like. I used to be metal guitar player so that injected the edginess and intensity to my music. On the other hand I found myself plucking the acoustic guitar my dad got me. That brought me to the point where my style is a Soft rock, Kurt Cobain, grunge, acoustic combination that made me wrote my song as you are going to hear them soon ;)
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
I released a cover version of the song "bloody valentine" by machine gun kelly as I think he's one of the main pioneers of rock music right now. My latest release is an original called "Stay Up" which is a single you should totally check out as it is the one I am most proud of :) You can expect only good vibes and fire energy from these works, as I write and produce them with all of my passion, I make sure none of it is left in the studio and I want it all to get the listeners heart.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Of course! "Stay Up" is just the beginning of a sequence of singles going to be released through the coming year. I'm so exited about those songs as I spent the whole pandemic period working on them with producer THE ANIMAL FARM. The coming works are going to be more and more energetic and upbeat and will eventually be wrapped up as an album. These are the first works I'm releasing to the world and and put all of my passion into. That is kind of a dream coming true. Since I was a child all I wanted to do is play music and go deeper and deeper into the understanding of my musical world. Exploring the ideas and inspiration I can get out of it and bring it into the world where people will interpret in different ways.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
It's funny you ask that. My band and I just finished getting our show ready with the best of our works and some cover songs. Now we are touring in Israel and it is so much fun. But we are waiting for the gates in the sky to be fully open and then we're getting ready for some shows in Europe so stay tuned in my IG to see when and where we are going to tour.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
I'm so happy that this first album is on the way and has so many great singles in it. After this album, we will tour for a few months, so we can also feel the audience in real life and not just through streaming. I truly enjoy seeing the crowd having fun and experiencing the music when it's live. So I will tour as much as I can and when it's time, I will start working on the next album. I already got so many songs that I want to get in there but no one know what time will bring with it so we will just have to wait and see.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I wish the listener will take something from the song that is reflecting on his or her own life and give them a different perspective on what it is they are going through. God knows music helped me get myself out of the worst situation. I believe music can really make someone's life better and if my music could do that to even one person. That would be magical to me. So take what you feel like taking from the music and after all, we are doing it for the fun so make sure you enjoy it while it last. :)
