Going with their own styling comes BONNIE who has three LP's along with 3 EP's as well. But not only do they have all of that content, but all new material in the works currently. This band talks of their works and what's planned next.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
BONNIE was founded in 2013 by singer BONNIE and songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Ueli “Hoffi” Hofstetter. Originally the band was named BONNIE & the groove Cats, as they started as a R’n’R-Band. Since 2013 the band played up to 250 shows in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy and Czech Republic and produced and released 4 full albums and 3 EP’s. They charted in Switzerland on No 5 with their EP “The Gap I” in 2019.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
BONNIE is just the name of front-girl BONNIE😊
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
BONNIE is based in Switzerland, in the suburban of Zurich. Swiss music scene has a large range from folk-music to metal and a lot of foreign bands are touring Switzerland – not only because chocolat! There are a lot of cool bands around like Steff la Cheffe or Stefanie Heizmann who play original stuff too.
4. How would you describe your style?
We call our style: “Vintage Soul and Roll” – as it includes different influences and shows what we are: open-minded.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We released 3 full albums, 3 EP’s and a bunch of singles so far. 8000 Miles is our latest song, released November 26th 2021, including a video, that was filmed in planetarium Lucerne. We play our sound that is based on BONNIE’s warm voice with sensitive lyrics and varied arrangements.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
As we are writing / producing all the time, we have a bunch of songs that are finished or we currently in process. Music is the way.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Due to the current situation we only play single shows here in Switzerland. But we’d love to go on tour all over Europe as soon as possible.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We plan to go our way, writing and releasing songs and go on stage and play wherever we are wanted.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can find BONNIE on the website: www.bonnieandthegroovecats.com, on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/bonnieandthegroovecats and on all significant download and streaming platforms.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
A voice to remember, smart hook lines and sound, authenticity and honesty.
