PMAD is a solo artist, whose namesake presents to be perhaps mad if not pretty mad. As such, a debut single has made itself known, with other working's at hand currently. The man himself goes into talks about his music and other plans.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
pMad is the solo artist title taken by Paul Dillon from Galway, Ireland. But blessed to have fantastic, family & friends like Liam Martin (Zedakube Recordings & Records), Dominik (Protonaut Studio) and Ortega (Elith Mastering Labs).
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The name comes from the initials in his full name! Simple as that. Though lots of people have been wondering what it is about……is he pretty mad.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
From beautiful south east Galway, Portumna has a huge history in music of all types. Amazing the talent that has come out of Portumna. On the other hand there was not and is not a huge indie, alt, Goth scene. But like most scenes, they go unseen!! Generally have to travel to get to see that bands you want to see. But the world is such a small place now, I discover fantastic new music every day, fortunate to be able to listen to music all day.
4. How would you describe your style?
It is what it is!! Not too sure as I like such a wide variety of music and I feel it comes out in the sound, vocals and lyrics. It has been described as ‘The child of The Cult and The Mission’ or a modern mix of Matt Johnson (The The) and Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney and The Fatima Mansions). I will happily take those comparisons.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
‘Who Am I’ is my debut single, a mix of goth, darkwave, rock, punk, post-punk with a modern twist. Hopefully it is an impressive piece of production, which brings a fusion of punk, electro-pop and Goth rock with a touch of dark metal, giving listeners a truly exciting listen.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
A global pandemic and technology afford me the time to create a full album of songs, a few extended versions and remixes. All the songs bring a different view of the people around us, of the way we view the world and ourselves. The follow singles all bring a different take on ourselves and the world around us. ‘Who Am I’ asks the questions of Good and Evil & If you don’t live you die (inside). We owe it to ourselves to be our best selves and enjoy our lives, but not to the detriment of others.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Nothing planned, all brand new to this. Covid of course has restricted the couple of opportunities that have come pMad’s way. But quite happy to wait and get the releases out and be confident that there is a big enough audience to play too. Loving it all so far, everyone has been so kind. Long may it last?
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
The future will bring what it brings. The plan is to release ‘Medicine’ the follow up single on 1st February 2022 on cd single with ‘Who Am I’ also on the cd along with all the streaming services. ‘Medicine’ is an introspective look at ourselves and hopefully gets across that ‘Hope is the Medicine’. Then the 3rd single ‘Broken’ and so on until we get to the album release sometime in 2022. Anything can happen between now and then and pMad will face it and enjoy it!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
“That is different, I want to hear more.” It is all you can do, pMad is what it is, I love it, I love the music myself, I listen to the full album constantly and I sit back and admire, air guitar, air bass, air drum to it. I created what I like to listen to, I hope that there is other people out there that will like it too!!
