Industrial band KOLLAPS have been round for a while, releasing two album's with an upcoming third release "Until The Day I Die" out this summer! The band talks of releasing that new album, music videos, and much more.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Kollaps began in Melbourne and toured extensively in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Over the last few years the band has changed membership for various reasons. The band consists of myself as a principle songwriter and Andrea Collaro who is a bassist but also bashes a large metal coil on stage. Giorgio Salmoiraghi is also a member, who drums live and in the studio contributes further percussion and sound design elements to the music.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
The band is based in two regions; I live in Ticino, the Italian speaking canton of Switzerland and my two other band members live in Lombardia, a northern province in Italy. I travel into Italy for rehearsals
There are two bands that I would recommend, both from Italy:
Overcharge
Devoid of Thought
4. How would you describe your style?
The music of Kollaps has and likely always will have industrial roots, I suppose it is quietly 80’s influenced with a modern flare. I often think of it as harsh romantic music.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have released two records Sibling Lovers (2017, Silken Tofu) and Mechnical Christ (2019, Cold Spring). We have a forthcoming record expected to be released in June 2022 called Until The Day I Die which will be our second collaboration with Cold Spring Records. Once again I feel like the music is harsh and romantic; it has more sophisticated songwriting and sound design; moments of chaos, beauty and ugliness.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
As I mentioned, the forthcoming title “Until The Day I Die” slated for release on Cold Spring Records during June 2022.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Kollaps has an extensive touring history and will continue that this year; we have a tour in April with Brighter Death Now and Of The Wand & The Moon where we will also perform at Roadburn Festival in Tilburg. We have further festivals, namely Roskilde Festival and Fusion Festival, during June which is scheduled around the album release. There is talk also of a 5 week tour in the United States of America.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Very soon we shall release some videos, one called “I Believe In The Closed Fist” which I have self produced and also a video called “D-IX” which was produced and edited by Jakub S. and edited in a VHS studio by Capital Waste Productions in Adelaide, Australia.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You may listen to new music from our forthcoming record “Until The Day I Die” on the Cold Spring bandcamp and make vinyl/cd purchases through the label website. I have listed these below.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
It’s not so much that I care whether something specifically about the music is remembered as much as I hope that some can identify with the music and find it moving in some way. With Kollaps, as much as the music is intended to be harsh and repulsive; genuine connection and common understanding always remains a key objective.
