Classic rock n' roller's FADED SHADES have been around for sometime, releasing a handful of single's including a debut album as well. Even some all new single's are set and ready to go as well. The band chats of music, touring hopefully and more.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Faded Shades was founded by Joe & Liam when they met in another band after jamming with Kent musicians who met on “Join My Band” a website that we would recommend! Unless of course you are looking for a drummer because it turned out easier to teach Charlie (Joe’s brother) the drums than to actually recruit one. And there you have it, all three members were formed. I believe the bands chemistry was born in the fact we all began our musical journey together as quite new players, and have grown and honed our skills as artists and performers equally and organically.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The bands name started life as a Small Faces lyric, “rest my eyes in Shades of green”. The Small Faces are a big influence of ours, and then Faded was bolted on to make it unique and roll off the tongue a little easier. We are always complimented on our name.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based out of Bromley and the music scene is great! You can often catch us at local open mic nights such as Carved Dive, Railway Tavern and Barrel & Horn jamming with some fantastic other musicians such as Deathroe Kudos, Mangled Strings, Bella & Nicole Farah! We also have had the privilege of playing some other great venues across London and the south east such as The Forum, O2 Islington, Spice of Life, Amersham Arms, Tin Pan Alley and many more.
4. How would you describe your style?
Our musical style is a clash of a classic 60’s drummer, 90’s guitarist and a bass player with too many distortion pedals! Our clothing style is now that of The Sweeney or an old Bond film, we’re talking Roger Moore era… We love classic, because classic is timeless and ever stylish.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We’ve released multiple singles that we are very proud of, especially Chasing Your Love & She Left Yesterday, both of which encapsulate our sound perfectly. Previous to that we recorded and released a bedroom recorded debut album “It Gets Heavy” which will still play songs live from today! Fan faves from it are Ain’t For Me, Fridays Not Enough & the title track instrumental It Gets Heavy!
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes we currently have three singles recorded with the brilliant Animal Farm Music! Waiting On Tomorrow releases May 13th, with another two soon to follow this year! We have also been writing new material which we are busy watching get a great reaction to when we play them live. Really looking forward to getting back in the studio to lay them down and release!
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We have many gigs coming up! So check out our social media accounts to catch all the dates and venues! @fadedshadesband
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
To tour the country hopefully and one day the world! You have to aim big, but also enjoy the journey of rising up through the ranks to get there. We’ve found the trick is to play entirely for our own enjoyment regardless of the size of the venue or crowd. You always get the best energy reception that way!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to us on all major streaming outlets and buy our stuff via our social media! @fadedshadesband on all major social platforms!
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Remember our name and tell their friends ideally! I’d love it if a listener could find something fresh in our sound, a familiarity and love for everything we have bled into it. I always appreciate greatest when a specific lyric touches someone, sometimes in a way you didn’t intend to write it. Ultimately its peoples personal experience of your music that makes it all worth while!
