* No Fame On Fire

MANTIC RITUAL release music video for “Crusader,” the first new song from the reunited thrashers since their 2009 Nuclear Blast debut. “Crusader” was originally released earlier this year to all digital platforms, in addition to a limited 7” single backed with the group’s take on the Mercyful Fate classic “Black Funeral.” The music video was shot in the Mojave Desert by producer Randall Smith and edited by Kai Young and captures an intense performance by the band complementing the infectious balance of high-energy traditional melodicism with thrashy break-neck aggression.

“With no festivals or tours on the schedule, we felt it was really important to make a simple, performance-oriented video,” explains vocalist/guitarist Dan Wetmore. “It was about getting the Mantic boys together and once again telling the dumbest jokes and being Beavis and Butthead x2, all the while making a sincerely mad clip. Filmed out near Mojave, we took our time hashing out that Pittsburgh/So-Cal vibe. ‘Crusader’ is already out, so this is a weird order of operations, but at approximately 1500 followers on Instagram, you gotta ask yourself, does it matter?! Good news is, we make music cuz we’re still pissed and still metal believers. If we were in it for cash, we’d have stuck with Nuclear Blast and made that weird euro pop metal. Enjoy, my friends!”

Mantic Ritual are spread across 3 states but that didn’t stop the core teaming up with friend and fan Carlos Cruz (Warbringer, Hexen, Exmortus), who has joined the outfit’s ranks, to crank out a few more originals and covers to please fans asking for “Crusader,” “Black Funeral” and more on CD. Sept. 2nd Mantic Ritual will release, “Heart Set Stone,” a 6-song collection of 3 originals and 3 covers, including the aforementioned in addition to renditions of classics from British hardcore originators G.B.H. and Canadian thrash legends Razor. Pre-order CD and limited-edition (100) cassette versions at www.smarturl.com/manticritual.

Italian Folk Metal band Servan released their debut album "Tales of the Forest". The album was recorded and mixed  by Riccardo Coraiola in "Artifact Studio", and mastered by Manuele Pesaresi in "Dyne Engine Studios". It features collaborations with artists such as HeadMatt (from Elvenking) for guitar solos and Catia Borgogno (from Alight) for some folk instruments and female vocals.

Check out the album linked below:

https://servan1.bandcamp.com/releases

Servan was formed in 2017 at Trento, Italy by Enrico Lunelli (Vocals), Francesco Pinter (Guitar), Mattia Faccioli (Bass), Onur Ucak (Guitar) and Andrea Sadler (Drums). The band's music merges north-Italian and European folklore with a modern melodic death metal sound, with the addition of full symphonic arrangements and medieval instruments. They're deeply influenced by bands like Finntroll, Eluveitie, Equilibrium, but also Avatar, Children of Bodom, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Kataklysm and Ex Deo.

Progressive metal band DIVINEX have an EP and an album with a lot more newer music in the works as well! The band talks of this material and what else they have planned next below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

So the road to what Divinex is now is a long one but it definitely started way back in high school by a bunch of music nerds. Our original drummer Zach, James our current guitarist and I (Jay) were all heavily involved in the high school music programs like concert band, drumline and over-achiever music theory classes, haha

We didn’t formally organize as Divinex until James and I were out of college, after a lot of short-lived bands of various styles with different combinations of the same members. But when we became “Divinex” at that point, we  totally leaned into the music nerd vibes and experimented with lots of weird time signatures and uncommon tonality early on.

We put out our first EP in 2014, which featured this ridiculous 15 minute long finale track we love called “Event Horizon” which got us some early traction, especially through Pandora where that track would pop up alongside many other big names in the instrumental music world. Shortly after that release we had to part ways with our original drummer so he could move away for college as well, which was when we picked up our current drummer Pat, who used to be part of a killer metal band called Mercia.

Next came our first full-length which we are still so proud of called “Create. Affect. Repeat.” in 2017, which featured another 12+ minute epic finale track following the reputation set with Event Horizon, and a guest guitar solo from legendary guitar persona, Angel Vivaldi. That was an interesting period of time because James also had to leave the band in anticipation of having his son, Spencer, but still recorded some parts on that record, most notably Parallel Pathways II which had a guitar solo he wrote in it we didn’t want to see get dropped once he left. Jon Davis from Through Lifeless Eyes stepped in for live performances for a number of years before he stepped down to focus on his own band, and James settled smoothly back into the other guitar spot.

Since then, lots of great memories made including winning Sumerians “Headbang for the highway” competition and kicking of Summer Slaughter tour in Ohio, appearing on Guitar Collective with Angel Vivaldi and Scale the summit, and opening for a number of big names in progressive and instrumental music.

We’re also finishing up a new full-length we’re so excited about, which will be our 3rd release and should be out by year’s end. This one will without a doubt be our best yet, with some truly great moments and fun surprises included on this release.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Haha, to be honest we might have outgrown it a bit, but at this point we are who we are. At the time the band was named, the same group of people had already played together in 10+ bands that all had names we grew to hate. Band names like “reject the masses” and “sideways sofa” (yes, these were actual band names) felt so cool at the time but in only months to years felt silly and cliche. Our goal with creating a band name at that point was to go with a made-up word that had no meaning other than being the name of the band. That way there was no profound meaning to get tired of and it was just a name, the same way you don’t get tired of using your friends names - they’re just names.

How the word was formed though was loosely based on the idea of “divining rods” which folklore says are magical instruments that guide you to important places or water, which was supposed to be symbolic of letting go and letting something else beyond yourself guide the music writing process.  The idea was that instead of forcing songs by filling them with riffs we logically think should sound cool or come from some chord shape or pattern,, we would try to write them by waiting until inspiration struck and the song feels like it's writing itself, which is something I still believe in. If you get an idea for a song and play along to those 16 or so measures and enjoy that moment for what it is, eventually what should happen next and where the song should go after that point will just come to you, and that’s when you know you’re inspired and you’re writing something meaningful. I still try my best to write that way.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Rochester, NY represent! haha. Rochester is an awesome city! Most of the people here grew up in the city or near it, but we do have tons of cool culture and things to do here. The music scene is definitely unique because there’s not really a ton of areas with lots of tourism or foot traffic, so there’s a thriving “underground” music scene where local bands or up and coming touring bands get the same community of devout music enthusiasts to come out again and again, and we’re just big enough where huge national acts will come through too fairly frequently. The local scene has almost everything but there’s a thriving heavy music scene here. I once saw we  were ranked in the top 10 best cities for heavy music at one point by some online publication and I don’t doubt it. Sirens and Sailors is definitely a big name that comes to mind, though they haven’t been as active in recent years, and Such Gold and part of Ice Nine Kills was based here as well. And as far as non-heavy bands, Rochester acts like Joywave and Kopps are killing it at the national level and have been for years

4. How would you describe your style?

We’re probably best described as instrumental progressive metal, but I'll also refer to us as hard rock sometimes depending on the situation, because we’re instrumental and the type of audience that doesn’t like people screaming at them but otherwise enjoys shows can be turned off by the term “metal.”

We’re instrumental, so to keep things interesting there are definitely a lot of fast and showy technical riffs, a ton of experimenting in uncommon time signatures and melodic structures, and lots of dynamic transitions where different parts of the band will grab your attention, or the mood changes entirely to draw you in. Being instrumental, you have to do a lot more to keep the listeners attention, but at the same time there’s this freedom you have in writing songs when the band doesn’t have to support a vocalist, where anything you want can be the focus at any time.

We also tend to focus more on entire albums and long experiences than individual songs too. Our most recent songs are a lot more digestible as stand-alone bite-size experiences than our older stuff, but we’ve always put all of our music out with the focus being on the entire EP or album being its own experience, of course capped by a super long finale song, haha

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So our first release was an odd little EP called “Movement” which is way longer than usual EPs at around a half hour, where there are only 4 songs and the 4th one is the entire second half of that half hour  haha. That song is the “Event Horizon” track which was our first hit I mentioned earlier, and that record is all over the place haha. We were leaning into the extra beats and atonality HARD so it’s really experimental, but definitely has a lot of great moments.

In 2017 we released our first true full length called Create. Affect. Repeat which really came a long way from where we started. We got a feature guitar solo from Angel Vivaldi, a beautiful acoustic track, more songs that were more digestible lengths, and a finale track called “Immortalize” which I truly love to death and I think was a great sequel to “Event Horizon” in terms of finale tracks. There’s a great, shall I say, “surprise” right at the climax of the album, a huge 2 minute double guitar solo, and I think it’s the best singular piece of music written to date. That whole album makes for a fantastic experience played front to back, and each song still works in its own right, which is something “Movement” didn’t quite do as well.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Sure do! As of writing we’ve just secured the final pieces needed for our 3rd record, which is something we’ve been working on for a little over a year now. Most everything had been recorded but we just got a super talented guitarist to do a guest spot, and we had this idea to let fans sing on our album,  and we’ve just received all the separate recordings and have been working on getting them ready to be in the track. We’re not yet sure of the title and release date but definitely by the end of this year we’ll have an amazing new full length out. We’re really proud of this one and we can’t wait for our fans to hear it!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’ve got a couple local things in the works for fun but we’ll be trying to get back out on the road much more following our CD release show to get some additional ears listening to it. These days with the album still in the works I’m still a bit creatively tapped out to put together tours and road shows but that chapter will be coming real soon!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

That’s hard to say. We do this mainly as a passion project so we don’t have any tangible benchmarks to meet like X shows a year or getting signed to a record label. All I know is that we’ll continue to play shows and find other ways to get people to listen to us online, especially the new album when it's out.

I’m also a huge nerd and like to program entire light shows for live performances, so I’m sure in the near future I’ll channel my creative juices into creating a new light show to perform with us while we play. It’s always fun to see a light show come together that’s synchronized to the music. It’s like an entirely new dimension to the songs, and makes for one hell of a live concert.

One last mention on that subject is that holy heck did this album take a lot out of me. I think after this I’m going to veer from having to make all of our releases be this big, ambitious thing and experiment more with recording singles, maybe collaborating with vocalists or other guitarists more. It was definitely a weird feeling holding on to awesome songs that are pretty much ready to be released while we wait for the final pieces of a full-length to come to fruition. It would be such a huge weight off to focus on making 3-5 minutes really awesome and releasing a sweet single and moving onto the next thing. We’ll still do longer releases in the future, but I think the next step will be experimenting more with shorter releases.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Both albums are out everywhere so listen on whichever streaming platform you choose! We also have plenty of merch and signed CD’s available from divinexofficial.com or bandcamp.com/divinexofficial. “DivinexOfficial” is actually our handle on almost everything so definitely find us and follow us on social media too!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Great question. I’d say probably that “wow” moment where everything just comes together and you know you’re at one of the climaxes of the song, or especially a climax of the album. I think what really converts the curious listener into a true Divinex fan is when you’re listening through a full album for the first time, and after 30+ minutes of listening you suddenly realize you are at the apex of the whole record, and you know it because it culminates everything you heard until that point perfectly and feels like a huge release and beautiful moment (or so we hope, haha). If not that, then at least remember some of our nifty guitar riffs? haha

Up and coming artist YUVAL LAVI has released music and worked in other forms of media. He wants to continue to release even more music for other pieces like film, TV, and video games even. Find out what else was discussed by him below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members?

My name is Yuval Lavi, I’m a classically and contemporary trained composer, producer, sound designer for visual media based in Los Angeles.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

My name is in Hebrew, it means a small river (or brook). But the origin of my name goes all the way back to the old testament. Yuval has the far relative of Noah (from Noah’s Ark). He was the first musician in the Bible “Genesis credits him as the forefather of certain instruments”.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are thereany local bands you could recommend?

I’m based in Los Angeles, California. And as you can imagine, the music scoring scene is vast. There are a lot of the talented composers in town and I am lucky to have worked with and even be friends with some. Some of my favorite local composers are Torin Borrowdale (Locke & Key), Inon Zur (Power Rangers, Fallout Series) and Haim Mazar (Sneakerheads, Woke).

4. How would you describe your style?

I’m Influenced a lot by electronic producers. I was always fascinated by synths and modulations of organic sounds. Also, I always had a passion for contemporary composers’ work. My upcoming album is influenced by the musicians like Ludovico Einaudi, Evgeny Grinko and Olafur Arnolds.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I have worked on a few films, some based in the West Coast and some based in Israel and France. My latest release is a short Israeli film named The Fisherman’s Wife. It is an incredible film and I’m honored to have taken part of it. It will be released next month in Jerusalem Festival.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I’ve been writing a new album that will be released next month. 6 months of hard work is coming to an end! It’s always great to see the final results of something you put a lot of hard work and passion into.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I’m currently working on a few films that should come out in the next few months. Stay tuned!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Making beautiful and brilliant music for amazing films, video games and TV shows.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to my music on my website: yuvallavi.com. When the album will be released next month it’ll be available on all the streaming platforms.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I’d like evoke emotions within the listener that make the moment they are experiencing a core memory in their lives.

Mixer-uppers WILD HORSE have had an array of projects within the band, the band also eleasing five full-length album's, with newer content also in the works. The band discusses their time together, music, and what else is planned next.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Our band already has a fairly long history. Two of us, Jack (singer, guitars, bass, keys) and Henry (bass, guitars, keys, backing vocals) are brothers and have of course known each other their whole lives. On top of this, Jack met Ed (drums, backing vocals, guitar) in primary school during a reading time session. They both saw that they had no one to read with and decided to pair up and have been close friends ever since. A few years later, Henry (14) and Ed (12) started jamming old classics together at an after-school music club and were looking to form a band. Jack (11) was just starting to play guitar and got talked into going to a session, despite initially not wanting to be in a band with his brother. The first song the band played together was a 25-minute version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Free Bird. They all bonded over similar music tastes and decided that they wanted to bring something new and exciting into music, and they haven’t looked back in 9 years.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Each member of the band remembers how the name came about slightly differently. Henry and Ed think that we had the name Wild Horse before our first gig at a country pub in a place called Chidingly, but Jack seems to think we didn’t have a name until after our first gig. Jack seems to remember a discussion on the way back from our first gig, which had gone very well and had got us our first encore from the crowd. There were many names thrown about such as Rusty Spanner and the Tool Kits and Eric the Pug. However, Wild Horse just felt right straight away. It comes from The Rolling Stones classic “Wild Horses” and Neil Young’s band Crazy Horse, as both acts were and still are big influences on us. Whatever dispute there is about how the name came about, the origin of where it came from is agreed by all members of the band.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is from a tiny country village in East Sussex called Burwash, which has about 9 people and 20 sheep within it. Therefore, when it comes to local bands, we are really Burwash’s only offering (excluding The Who and The Cure, as Rodger Daltrey and Robert Smith live in the area, but we think they’re probably past the point of popularity where they’ll need a shout out from us!). However, we consider our home city to be Brighton, as it is close by and two of the members, Jack, and Henry, have spent time living there. There are loads of great bands and artists that we have played with from Brighton over the years. One of our favorites is Nicholas and the Outlanders, who are a fantastic blues band that we played with recently. If you like blues music (who doesn’t?!) then you should definitely check them out. We hope to be playing with them again soon!

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style is a bit of a mix of many things. This is because as a band, the three of us have such a vast music taste which covers everything from classical orchestra and opera music, all the way to country and western, all the way to grime and hip/hop. We don’t try too hard to incorporate a certain style or sound. We simply try to stay true to ourselves. We find that this has helped us to create a unique style which separates us from everyone else. Our style falls somewhere within a mix of RnB, Pop, Funk, Rock, Soul, Hip Hop, and Jazz. We were once described by as being like The Weekend with guitars if that helps you to imagine what we sound like!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

After being together for 9 years, I’m sure it comes to no surprise that we have released quite a few projects. The band’s main songwriter, Jack, is incredibly prolific with his song writing to the point where it is difficult to find him doing much else with his time. We have so far released 5 full length albums, the latest being last year’s “When the Pool is Occupied” which you can listen to here: https://ffm.to/wtpio.otw.

With all of the works we have released so far, we have tried to take the listener into a glimpse of both our own lives and also down a path of their own individual lives to show that we are all human and everyone can relate to each other despite all our differences as, quite simply, we are all living life on the same planet just trying to figure it all out as we go along. We feel that our job is to provide part of the soundtrack to our listener’s lives and hopefully entertain them whilst they figure out their path.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes. We always have new music in the works. The devil works hard but Wild Horse works harder! Our new single “Joy Ride” is out everywhere now! It’s our first release of 2022 and it’s a summer Funk/RnB banger all about car sex. We wanted to bring a sense of fun into the summer of 2022 after the last two years of misery and we couldn’t think of a better way to do it than with this song. We love it so much and we think you will too, so check it out here: https://ffm.to/joyridewh.OTW.

On top of that, we already have our next single planned for release later this summer and are back in the studio recording more tracks. We’re showing no signs of slowing down, we love it too much!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are always playing shows. It’s our favorite thing to do and is essentially where the band stems from. We are our most comfortable when we are on stage performing in front of people. We are known for always giving an extremely energetic stage show. We always dress up in some “out-there” outfits and encourage everybody who comes to see us to do the same! It just encourages a fun and free atmosphere where everyone can enjoy themselves. In terms of touring, we unfortunately haven’t been able to go on a full tour yet as for the majority of our existence as a band we have been at school or university because we are so young! But our education is (finally!) coming to an end and we hope to be planning a tour within the next few months and announcements on this will be made very soon so make sure to follow us on our socials to keep up to date:

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We have some extremely big aspirations and plans for the future as a band. Essentially, we want to be able to do music full time as our jobs. There is nothing more thrilling to us than to be able to travel the world and connect with people through our music every night at shows. With individual dreams on this, Jack hopes that the band one day headlines Glastonbury, Ed wants the band to play the Royal Albert Hall one day and it’s Henry’s dream for the band to play Madison Square Garden. So yes, modest plans from the boys about the band’s future!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The answer to this is simple. To have fun. We want our music to make people happy and to bring people together. So, whenever anybody is listening to our music, we want them to do whatever they want to do. If you want to dance, dance. If you want to sing, sing. If you want to cry, cry. The only thing we recommend that you don’t do to our music is commit any form of crime! Other than that, our music is just as much yours as it is ours, so enjoy it!

Experimental elementalists THE RIFT combine the like's of thrash metal, metalcore, blues, reggae, progressive and flamenco. With those genres doing their works, the band has released a debut album, and are working upon their follow-up album currently. The band plans to do some shows later this year as well. The band talks about these matters at hand below.

1. Please tell us about the history of the band and its members.

The band came about originally with my brother John when we were kids over the years it sort of took a life of its own and Ovais really helped solidify things in 2015 when he took over on drums.  Ever since this it’s been all up or downhill lol!

2. What’s the origins of the band’s name?

The name came from the idea that we wanted to do something different.  We have a very diverse set of influences so I think we had some foresight going into it that we needed a name that would compliment those influences.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?  Any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of Southern California which has always been home, the scene has changed over the years but it is amazing how much talent from all over comes to perform here.  Absolutely one of my favorite things about the scene here is we have some colleagues doing amazing things, recommend checking out Beware of Darkness & Budderside for starters.

4. How would you describe your style?

Someone recently told me we sound like California metal, I don’t know what that it is but I liked it lol.  Generally speaking though I’d say we combine elements of thrash metal & metalcore with blues, reggae, prog, and flamenco.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have our first full-length album Invention 2016 and six singles in the  years following.  You can expect that we’re always going to be pushing the envelope with our songs in one way or another.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes we have our second full length album in the works finally, the songs are sounding great so we’re definitely excited to get it out there

7. How about shows and touring, anything planned out?

We’re going to be performing some very cool shows coming up.  October 6th here in LA at the one and only Whisky A Go Go opening up for Tantric which is an amazing opportunity.  Then we’re going to be doing a rock the vote effort to encourage folks here in the US to vote on the #Ivotedfestival with amazing bands like Rise Against & Halestorm.  Very inspiring to be apart of something positive with artists like that.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our plans are to keep pushing and expand our galactic empire lol.  Honestly to get out there as much as we can we love performing live and writing new music so the more of that we can do I’m confident everything else will follow.

9. Where can we listen to your band and buy your stuff?

https://open.spotify.com/artist/20XC0kNuHwNw2w2R0mDolP, & https://www.pandora.com/artist/the-rift/lost-angeles-single/AL77d643wflgpx4 for streaming, to buy our merch & music plus info for shows go to www.theriftofficial.com or head to our patereon for exclusive offers at https://www.patreon.com/theriftofficial.

10.  What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time

Hopefully they connect with us & that each song was crafted in a unique organic way, it’s pure unfiltered joy & rock and roll.

Up and coming and RED MAKER began not too long ago, releasing a few single's with even a 2 hour length album of demo's as well. The band has a debut album out this summer with a live album as well. So much more is also in-store that the band just has to discuss it all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and it’s members.

Sam and Morgan’s high school friendship was re-kindled, after 6 years, at a Slayer show they just both happened to be at. Not long after, with talks of jamming, Red Maker was formed in Jan 2021 by Morgan Harris and Sam Di Vito. Then after many months of recording and performing as a duo, the sound demanded expansion, which lead to Kyle Dowling to join as lead guitar player. As the band grows, Morgan Harris is on bass and lead vocals, Sam Di Vito is on the drums and vocals, and Kyle Dowling is lead guitar.

2. What’s the origin of your bands name?

After many weeks of arguing over name choice, Red Maker was taken from the name of one members elementary school-yard gang name.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you’d recommend?

Red Maker is based out of Sioux Falls, SD. which holds a frustratingly small indie music scene. Though for some reason happily encouraged by the metal scene, you often find headbangers and mosh pits in most of the bills Red Maker shares. Some bands from the area that have we’ve made friendships with in the scene has been Skin of Our Teeth, Great Odins Raven, The Disarmed, Sharon’s Little Helpers, and Pray for Villains.

4. How would you describe your style?

You can hear a love of an eclectic range of records, and find their influence in our sound. Every song is a new story with a new vibe and new approach. You hardly know what to expect every time you hit “next”.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We’ve released exclusively singles so far every month since June ‘21 to January ‘22, and then put out a 2-hour long album of demos in April of ‘22. You can expect top notch quality mix from Tyler, at Red Dot Recording (Fargo, ND), as well as your new favorite song!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Getting finishing touches on a live album, as well as wrapping up the recording process for our first official album, set to come out in July.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

So far we have 4 shows from June to August including Owatonna, Omaha, and two local Sioux Falls shows, one of which is The Four Winds Festival. We’re constantly looking at booking many more!

8. What plans do you have for the future of the band?

Releasing music and playing gigs, to try to make this our full-time job!  Hopefully touring and record deals in our near future!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find our music on any major streaming sites, mainly Spotify. You can find our merch at our live shows, or you can DM us for an order (which we are more than happy to respond to!)

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We always talk about real life, with all of it’s real problems and beauty. We hope the most that any listeners can find relate-ability to their experiences in the songs that we write.

Indie rocker RYAN DAVID ORR is finishing up what he says is his tenth album, with a handful of single's out as well as a lot more music and newer singles out soon! He goes into much detail about this music and what else he has planned.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

I have been playing as a solo artist and also with a full band for about 20 years. When I first started recording my own music with a home studio setup in 2001, I ended up making an album that had far more instruments and layers than I could possibly do justice to by myself, so I scrambled to find some other musicians. My bandmates have been a revolving cast of friends, acquaintances, and recruits I have found in the scenes I have been a part of. For my latest release, the drums and bass were performed by a couple guys I regularly perform with in Arizona. I played all the guitars, but when I was done tracking the song, I sent it to my lead guitarist, who got excited to learn the parts and play them live.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The "band" name is just my full name, but I used to actually just go by my first and last name, without my middle name. I changed my stage name to include my full name when I happened to do a Google search for "Ryan Orr" and a few other people came up, including a fairly popular young adult fiction writer. So, the strange, but honest, answer to why I use my full name is based solely on SEO purposes: it was easier to find me in the digital world if I used my whole name:)

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

My music in general is based out of Lakeside, Arizona. I play a lot of live shows in this area, both solo and with accompaniment. This area is called the White Mountains, and it's nestled in a rural part of northeastern Arizona. There isn't a huge original music scene, but there are a lot of musicians, so it's easy to find a lot of cover bands. I often travel to bigger cities and go out of state to perform as well. Some notable artists that have come from this area: Zella Day, Alaska and Me, Gorky,

4. How would you describe your style?

I usually describe my music as indie-rock or indie-folk. I mix in a lot of different genres and elements over the course of an entire album, so it's sometimes hard to give it one definitive label. But generally, a term like indie-rock seems to cover most things. Most often, my music is written on guitar, and ends up accompanied by bass and drums. Sometimes there are elements of electronica and experimental layers, and some of my recordings are spoken word pieces.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I am currently finishing up my 10th solo album and a handful of singles that all fall into the indie-rock, alt-rock, or indie-folk areas. Over the years I have released some very minimalist folk  some big-sounding rock albums  some albums that pull from the areas of blues, jazz, and funk, and some stuff that hints at trip-hop or electro-pop  What I think can be said for most of my music is that it is very lyrically-driven and cinematic. For the most part, listeners can expect that no two albums are going to sound the same. I have spent my music-listening life taking in all sorts of styles and genres, and I think that comes through in my work.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, quite a bit actually. I am releasing a couple new singles with The Animal Farm over the next few months, and will be releasing several more with them over the course of this next year. I will also be releasing a full-length album this summer that I have been working on for the last couple years. As was the case with most musicians, I spent long pandemic hours writing, recording, and producing this group of songs, so it will be good to finally release the album. I am also a fan of film, so I am working on a new music video for a song from the new album. I studied film as an undergrad student, so I like to really get into my videos. I usually write, direct, and often shoot them myself. So yes, lots of new music coming forth. :)

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Right now I have about 30-40 shows booked for the remainder of 2022. Most of them will take place in this area of Arizona. Another result of the pandemic was that many shows got canceled and no one was certain of what state our social lives would be in. Since a lot of booking is done pretty far in advance, it has been easier to focus on Arizona shows at venues with outdoor stages. In the not-so-distant future, I hope to again tour more outside of my immediate area. In the past I have done tours of the west coast (California, Oregon, Washington), many states to the east (Tennessee, North Carolina, New York), and have done some touring in Europe.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I will continue writing new material, and my current bandmates generally like what I do, so it is easy to get them on board for recording projects. We will continue performing my music, and we hope to branch out geographically as time progresses.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find all kinds of info about my music and links to my store by going to ryandavidorr.com. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. For videos, my YouTube channel. To access my store directly for vinyls, t-shirts, CDs, etc. you can visit my Bandcamp site.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I think it pleases me the most when a listener tells me they really connected with the lyrics. I put a lot of thought and consideration into my lyrics, and I think lyrical content is very important - something often neglected by modern listeners as well as songwriters. I think that for most of my music, the lyrics tend to fit the vibe of the song, and that there is a reciprocal creative force between the music and lyrics. One inspires the other, back and forth, throughout the creative process.

Elemental band POLARITY has two full-length album's and two EP's along with a single, and a live EP coming up as well. The band does have all new music in the works, and even is playing locally with plans on touring soon enough. See how the band talks about all of this below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The original band members that started this group together and are still in this together are Jasmine Virginia and Michael Sitana. We've been around for over a decade with various other members over the course of the last few years. Our long time friend Deren Bostanci joined us on bass a few years back bringing his laid back walking riffs to the mix. Sheldon Fernandes entered the mix right before the world shut down but already he has brought his unique technical improvisational style to the group. Lastly, also longtime friend Julian Craig recently entered the mix, bringing his driving beats and unique fills to the group.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name POLARITY came up when we were discussing band name ideas one time at jam. Our music had a mix of hard crushing heavy distortion with a light ambient ethereal sound. Hence we decided on POLARITY the duality of light vs darkness, plus vs minus, positive vs negative.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of Southern Ontario, Canada with our members spanning various cities. The music scene in Ontario is slowly picking up steam again post lockdown and we have been seeing a return to form for many of our favourite artists, promoters and venues. Some local artists and friends that we can recommend are Cevilain, Danger Liker & Red Handed Denial.

4. How would you describe your style?

Polarity as a whole is hard to describe in one style or genre, we pride ourselves in encompassing many elements from various genres ranging from Indie alternative to Djent. Our music will take the listener on an emotional rollercoaster of a journey with many peaks and lulls, creating artistic imagery in the mind of vast starfields, rolling hills and dense forests.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have 2 full LP albums, 2 EP albums, 1 acoustic single and an upcoming live off the floor studio EP and all our songs are available online on Spotify and all other streaming platforms worldwide.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have 3 new singles that were recorded live off the floor at Jukasa Studio and will have a staggered release over the next few months. The first single “Destruction of Memory” will be out on all platforms as of June 24th. All three of these singles will also be accompanied by studio session music videos so we hope that fans and newcomers alike will tune in and enjoy …

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We currently gig live locally and are eventually planning on national tours. The furthest we've gone in Canada was the east coast a few years ago and this August will be going through Ottawa and the Quebec area for a few shows and festivals.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

To continue to grow our music worldwide and to eventually travel the world playing our music. We all have many locations we would love to travel to and perform in, the UK and Japan being the two most sought after at the moment. After this upcoming release of “Live Off the Floor at Jukasa Studio” we plan on continuing our writing and working towards our next album.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to us through any major and minor streaming website worldwide from Napster to Spotify. We are working on involving ourselves in as many platforms globally as we possibly can. You can also follow us on socials at “PolarityMusic” on Facebook and Instagram, and “PolarityOfficial” on YouTube.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The energy you feel from the rhythm of the bass and the beat of the drums, the melodic poetry of the vocals and the unique riffs of the guitars. We like to create a journey with our music and provide a sonic atmosphere to our listeners. We also love hearing what others feel and picture while listening to our music.

Unique up and comer's LONGFIELD AND SUPER SKELETON have had two album's out with another album out late this summer! Some shows are also set to take place this summer as well as much more! The band chats about it below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members:

We didn't really 'start out' as a band, as much as we 'stumbled together' as one.

6 years ago we were a small group of friends, and friends of friends, messing around in a studio out in the sticks. After a few recordings and a couple of shows it started turning into something serious, and shortly thereafter we moved our studio to it's current location. From there it has slowly, but steadily, grown and changed over the years, to what it's been for the last year and a half.

Longfield & Super Skeleton is:

Jarle Langåker, Christian Sjøthun, Dean Christiansen, Ken-Tore Kallevåg, Christian Sæløen

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Dean Christiansen (bassist) gave Jarle Langåker (vocals) the name "Longfield" back in the day, which later became an artist name for his solo releases between releases from his other band, Kindred Fever. Later, when Jarle started making songs with a friend on drums, he called it the first and most confusing thing he could come up with at the time, namely Longfield & Super Skeleton.

(Longfield is the direct translation of Langåker in Norwegian)

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is scattered along the west-coast of Norway, mainly from areas in and around Haugesund and Stavanger. The music scene mainly consists of old blues musicians, metal acts and prog-enthusiasts, so you could say that we are kind of outsiders in that manner.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our music has taken many different paths. We are all fond of different types of music, film, art and clothes (fortunately we all share the acquired taste in tracksuits), and that might reflect in the music. Some songs are of a darker tone and vibe, while others might reflect the urge to smile and give not give a shit. The common thread in this band is possibly to be the most unserious, serious band in Norway.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we've released two records (Fight Music, Void of Glitter / Constantly Bitter), and a handful og singles from our upcoming record. People can expect a danceable, hard-hitting, and dynamic sound wrapped up in dead-honest, naïve and at times gloomy lyrics.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our new album is out on August 26th 2022/ Other than that we have another release TBA, and we're just about to start the work on our 4th studio album.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We've got some shows planned over the summer, and a tour in the Fall, supporting the release of our new album.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We have a lot of plans ahead, but we like keeping them amongst ourselves until they're ready to be released.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find us on most of your preferred streaming platforms. For merch, you can check us out on Bandcamp or contact us elsewhere.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Our entire name.

Alternative metal rockers LILITH'S REVENGE has been around for a while, releasing a handful of single's, with their debut album released earlier this summer! Shows have already been performed with a lot more in-store! The band talks of it all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members

Lilith’s Revenge were formed back in 2020 when Paulo (guitar player) started to take singing lessons with Paula Teles (lead singer). After some classes Paula suggested Paulo to join in on a new project she had in mind called “Lilith’s Revenge”. Paulo accepted the proposal, and since both members wanted to start working as soon as possible, Paulo recruited the members of his own project “Strings In Veins” to join this new one. So Bruno Sousa joined as lead guitar player, Edu as bassist and Joe Sousa as drummer. After two years, in early 2022, Joe announced his departure from the band to follow other projects in a different area, so Bruno’s coworker from his day job, Felipe Baptista was called to join the band, and has been working as the band’s resident drummer ever since.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

According to some gospels, the demon Lilith was actually Adam’s first wife in paradise, but was punished and casted to hell for refusing to be submissive. So the band use the name “Lilith” to represent a movement that fights for equality of both genders, and tries to be a source of power for victims of verbal and physical abuse, man or woman. The band looks to represent everyone who’s abused, or an outcast, so that it’s easier for these people to find their place in the world and find strength to carry on.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re all from the Porto district, from a region called the Vale de Sousa valley. Our singer Paula is from Sousela, Paulo is from Sobreira, Edu from Recarei, Felipe lives in Porto even though he was born in Brazil, and Bruno is from Fonte Arcada. The local music scene is essentially metal. There are a lot of heavy metal bands in Portugal, and also bands that mix heavy sounds and gutturals with melodic operatic singing from female singers. Recently we crossed paths on the road with a band called “Ledderplain” who play in a more heavy metal genre, and “Secret Chord” who play very well the genre that mixes the guttural and operatic singing.

4. How would you describe your style?

Lilith’s Revenge shifts between rock and metal, and it’s not yet allocated to each in particular. Every member writes and composes so there are different backgrounds in the final versions of each demo. Bruno and Edu, have a more metal side, Paula and Paulo are way more hard rock, and Felipe Baptista is more alternative. Maybe something along the lines of Alternative Metal, or Melodic Rock.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

The band has released four singles, “Hand On Heart”, “Queendom”, “Revenge”, “Blindness”. The latter two were re edited and featured on the most recent release that is the first studio album “Children From Eden”. People can expect a lot of energy and a lot of emotion poured into the songs. The songs always address very sensitive subjects, and with that comes a lot of feeling and emotion.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our first album was officially released on the 21th of May 2022, however we already have a couple demos that will be worked on so they can be featured in a new record down the road.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’ve had a couple shows already. The live debut came at Metalpoint on the day we released our album, and merely two weeks after the band replaced “Waterland” in the event TondelaRocks. The band is scheduled to play in Portalegre in the event “FemaleFrontFest” on the 18th of June. Though there are still no tour plans, there are a couple venues, just waiting on the confirmation of a day to seal the deal.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

The band intends to reach as many people as possible. We believe our music can be helpful to those who struggle, and from reviews we received from our first record, it’s doing just that, so more important than fame, in our eyes it would be wonderful to help as many people as we can. Of course with that comes fame and acknowledgment, which is clearly very important to any musician out there looking to grow and make a living in the business. So as of now, our goal is to play the most gigs we can, sell the most cd’s we can, and get to be heard as much as possible.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

The band’s music is available on most digital platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, … and of course, anyone can listen to our music in our official YouTube channel, where we also made our whole album available for free listening.  As of now, we have a couple CD’s being sold on an iconic store in Porto, called Piranha Records. Our CD’s can also be bought through private messaging the band.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Our passion. Music is a tough business, and we’re just taking our first steps as a band, there’s a long road ahead. We’ve all had different projects in the past and we know how much of a toll it takes on one’s personal life, may it be physical, economical, or mental. But our live performances and our recordings feature a lot of passion being poured out on the most intense riffs, or on the most delicate clean parts.

Extreme metal band DYING VISION got their start way back in 2012, releasing two full-length album's, with the process of a third in the works currently! The band discusses their time together, current recording's and more all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band was formed in 2012 by Starash (guitar former, Devilish Impressions and Diachronia), SeeKing (drums, former Diachronia and Seven Main Sins), and Przemyslaw Kajnat (Praesepe and Eternal Deformity).  Filling out the line-up for the production of the debut album, ‘Univerself’ were Navar and Virian (current: Lilla Veneda).

Subsequently, in 2014 Owen Padfield (current: Edge of Ruin and Tyrannos) joined on bass, followed by Richard Ashton (former: Axis of Evil, Deathtrip Armada, Deep Throat Trauma, Hollow Demise, and Ritual Abuse) on vocals.  This has remained the line-up since then.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name came from the former bassist, Przemyslaw.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Individual band member locations span across London and the Home Counties.  Rehearsals and meetings take place in Woking.  London and Kent would be the scenes that the band participated in the most.

The live music scene seems to be catching up from the backlog of postponed shows due to the pandemic.  In the time spent performing at Meta,l 2 the Masses shows, I have been personally impressed by the likes of Vesicarum and Atravion.  It is also worth looking up 10 Plagues who have emerged rapidly across the UK live scene since March this year.

4. How would you describe your style?

The style / genre broadly covers extreme metal.  It may be possible to pigeonhole specific parts of songs as ‘death’ or ‘black’ metal.  While writing music, no time is given to considering what style or subgenre should be assigned.  The listener as an outsider is usually the best-placed person for that.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

The band released two full-length albums: Univerself and The Death and its Slaughter. Memorable hooks usually underpin the songs and incorporate harmonic or sometimes dissonant textures.  To me, this is where the ‘depth’ can be found; in the sum of the arrangement.  That is irrespective of whether it happens to be labelled as ‘technical’ or not.  For an extreme metal offering I also think that the songs maintain a balance of being accessible and taking opportunities for a few surprises (take the clean female vocals on ‘Testimony of the Fallen’ for example).

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

The band is in the process of writing for a third release and some pre-production teaser footage for new songs can be heard on the Facebook page.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

The band is currently involved in Metal 2 the Masses Kent.  As of writing (June 2022), we are preparing to perform at the Grand Final – competing for the opportunity to play on the New Blood Stage at Bloodstock 2022.  We are actively seeking and taking bookings for gigs.  Our social media pages all include the details for booking a show with us.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

The plan is to continue gigging through 2022 whilst writing new music.  At the start of 2023, finish writing and begin the production of the third album.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Several digital outlets including Bandcamp (lossless formats available), Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and YouTube Music offer The Death and its Slaughter.  Univerself is available on Bandcamp.

Merchandise including T-shirts, caps and beanies is available from the Big Cartel store (https://dyingvision.bigcartel.com

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The songs contain memorable and melodic hooks that would stay with the listener from the first listen. I would urge them to replay the song to appreciate the textures contributed by the rest of the arrangement behind those parts.

Last month, a fan told us that it took them more than one listen to appreciate specific nuances, making them worth repeatedly listening to.   That was an interesting outsider’s perspective to us (being required to know the songs at a forensic level through practising and rehearsing them - we were probably too close to make that kind of judgement ourselves).

I can also think of parts in Plague Bringer or Lost in the Darkness for example, where the listener expects a specific part to repeat in a certain way, but we subvert their expectations.  I think that that makes the experience more engaging overall.
