ZACHARY ROSS AND THE DIVINE (EX-MAN OVERBOARD) RELEASE NEW SONG AND VIDEO FOR “PUSH START (EVERYBODY KNOWS)”

Zachary Ross and The Divine release “Push Start (Everybody Knows),” the second single from their upcoming debut EP. The track boldly shines a light on a new side of Zachary’s musical repertoire with an alt-rock flair and pop sensibilities after being known for his previous stint in pop-punk defenders Man Overboard. Despite the new sound, he isn’t leaving behind the lyrical storytelling that earned him a crown as scene royalty:

“This song is about watching someone go through loneliness and you know damn well you could make them feel a lot better but they aren’t interested in you. They are interested in literally anyone but you. So all you can do is sit back and watch the dumpster fire and go ‘ok well I tried, have fun with...whatever it is you're doing.’” - ZACHARY ROSS AND THE DIVINE

You may recall Zachary Ross from one of the most pivotal pop-punk bands of the 2010s - Man Overboard. His musical talents landed him on the main stage of the Vans Warped Tour, on the top 20 Billboard rock charts, and on worldwide tours with sold-out crowds on multiple continents. When the band came to an end, Zac tended to his family life and struggled with mental illness of his own.

After a few years under the radar, he felt it was time to make new music under his own name in the summer of 2021. His agent Matt Pike encouraged him to take the plunge by reminding him that if he puts great music out, the world will probably listen, or at least some people. With that fire lit, Zac headed to Hollywood to make a record and a new band of his own. Despite Man Overboard reunion plans in the future, Zachary Ross and The Divine is his latest full-time effort and main outlet as a songwriter. The new tracks explore the stories of his life including love, loss, growth, and change. The familiar and beloved characteristics of Zac’s previous musical endeavors are present and seamlessly blend with his new perspective and approach as a solo artist. His first EP under the moniker is set to release on September 2nd, 2022 via Smartpunk Records.

Cosmic Death Cult was formed in Ontario, Canada by BOC (Vocals / Guitars / Bass / Synth), a veteran of the Ontario Underground Extreme Metal scene. The band's music incorporates elements of classic metal, thrash and black metal with stoner/psychedelic influences. Thematically, the band draws inspiration from vintage sci-fi, horror and psychedelic films and novels.

Kill All The Gentlemen Talks of Merch, Shows, and Music!

Modernized death metal band KILL ALL THE GENTLEMEN have got some new music in the works, with their previous content widely available including 3 EP's and 2 album's with some hope to get out into the festival scene with more shows in suite as well. The band talks of shows, music, merch and more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

KATG are from Southwest England born in 2013. Our mission was to create aggressive relentless music but with catchy hooks and melodies thrown in to at least shock and raise attention to ourselves in more accessible scenes. Our biggest shows to date have included Bloodstock Festival, Mammothfest, and main support in Eastern Europe for Napalm Death and Cradle Of Filth. The bands current lineup is:

Adam Martin - Guitar and vocals

Ben Andrew - Bass Guitar and backing vocals

Mike Precious - Guitar

Thomas Rorstad - Drums

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name came from an event in time called The Prayer Book Rebellion. In 1549 in a local village to us The Battle Of Fenny Bridges took place, many died and the river ran red. By order of the King was to “Kill All The Gentlemen”

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based in East Devon, Exeter primarily with The Cavern probably being our hometown venue where we get our main local following and support to come and see us at every opportunity.

Exeter is very lucky to still have a club sized venue and is still one of the best in the country in my opinion but they are few and far between these days, especially for metal. I think the pandemic has played a big part in this.

If I was to recommend a band at the moment I would have to give a shout out to our new Swedish friends in Recreated who recently came over to the UK and did a run of shows with us.

4. How would you describe your style?

This is always a tricky one, particularly now in metal as there are so many sub genres but I feel we’ve steered away from that and gone down a more traditional route. I’d describe is as a modern death metal band with catchy hooks and melodies whilst retaining relentless aggression.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we have released 3 EPs and 2 full length albums. Our latest “Black Canvas” came out this year and is still very much new as we are yet to properly go out and tour it but it’s in the works! Expect to hear 200bpm relentless energy, blast beats, double kicks, guitar harmonies, hooks, melodies, beat downs and angry vocals. Balls to the wall metal!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are always writing new music in the background. We have about 3 or 4 songs demoed at the moment but as our new album has only just been released we’re are not sure what will happen with these tracks but maybe they will be released in some form next year to keep the wheels in motion.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Our next stop is Beermageddon festival in Bromsgrove. It’s a privilege to be asked to play a sold out 10th anniversary event, we’re really looking forward to it. Afterwards we will be out doing another UK run and potentially Scandinavia and the Baltics this year.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Would love to get on some major festivals and broaden our audiences and horizons.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

As always the easiest way is to find us on all streaming platforms, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Pornhub etc.

You can buy some merchandise from us on our big cartel page or drop us a message on your social media platform and we’ll be happy to assist!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Like a nostalgic breath of fresh air! Something you’ve been wanting to hear in metal for a long time. Like one of your favorite albums from the good old days that you wish bands sounded like today! Give us a try!

Gloria Volt's Says Lots on New EP, Old Content, and More!

Hard rock n' roller's GLORIA VOLT was founded over quite sometime ago, releasing an EP and three full-length album's, with another EP on the way as well. Some shows are the next thing planned out as well as much else too. See what is said from the band themselves below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We were founded eleven years ago and have been dedicated to unpolished, classic hard rock ever since. In earlier days we played in different punk, stoners and rock bands until one day we realized that hard rock is the only true attitude to life.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The band's name originated in a beer-soulful night. Wereally wanted to have "Volt" in our band name, after more beers we had the idea to just use a first name. That's when gloria was born, and she accompanies us to this day.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We come from beautiful Winterthur, Winterthur Rockcity! We have different clubs with a lot of live acts. Of course we also have some cool bands at the start like Jack Slammer the Hathors or the Hellroom-projectors.

4. How would you describe your style?

As mentioned above, we do unadorned rock/hard rock of the old school. Crisp riffs, driving beats, howling guitars and rousing vocals.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 4 recordings so far (1 EP, 3 LP). Those who listen to us will be amazed by our energetic rock songs.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our new EP is in the pipeline, the first single "Forever Young" has already been released.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

A few more shows are on the program and I think there will be some more. But we will hardly be on tour for a long time, as everyone has to do their job and some have a family.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Drink, drink and drink again. Ofcourse we want to do some cool shows and new material will certainly be available again, but at the moment we want to concentrate fully on the upcoming gigs.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

On Spotify you can listen to all our material. Those who want to buy sound recordings can do so via cede.ch or directly through us: info@gloriavolt.com

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

When you hear us for the first time you should remember the good old rock music, open a beer and bounce your foot. That's it. Rock'n' Roll.

New Years Day Releases New Single and Video For "Hurts Like Hell" And Announces Shows!

Rock powerhouse New Years Day releases their new single and music video for “Hurts Like Hell” today via Century Media. Watch the music video directed by Robyn August (Snoop Dogg, Pitbull, Nothing More), HERE. The track is available to purchase and stream, HERE.

“‘Hurts Like Hell’ might seem like a song about a relationship on the surface; in a way, it is, I suppose,” states New Years Day singer Ash Costello. “As I struggled to navigate how to continue to pursue my passion during the pandemic, I realized that chaos is where I thrive. I will stare down any obstacle, even if I look like a crazy person to subject myself to it. Eleanor Roosevelt said, ‘We all know people who are so afraid of pain that they shut themselves up […] and shrink until life is a mere living death.’ Turning pain into progress and tragedy into triumph is a particularly satisfying victory. As the saying goes: ‘nothing worth having comes easy.’ That is what ‘Hurts Like Hell’ means to me. The song is an acceptance and celebration of my relationship with chaos.”

New Years Day have also just announced their Fall headline tour today. The band will be on tour starting October 8thin Palmdale, CA and wrapping on October 23rd for the headline run. Eye Steal Say's There is No Hope, No Future!?

Grunge goth band EYE STEAL have a couple of release's under their belt's, with more content underway with a release soon enough! They also have plans to perform at some fest's and other shows too. They say much about themselves and music all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Remi- I grew up on the post hardcore/screamo scene in the early 2000s my music taste by this point was pretty eclectic but by the end not being fueled anymore by the confines of a genre. I needed more. I started keeping a music journal, Something I could use to express my various other tastes in private. This would later become the catalyst that I would create the first version of the band. It would later fizzle out because of; well life I guess. I realized that although my music had changed, my approach to what a band could be hadn't. I stepped away for a while. When I had returned my life had seemed to melo out a lil and I began working on the next version of the band. I considered these the dark ages of Eye Steal and fans who have been with us since the beginning would have a better perception than me as to how that went. Musicly I feel the band started when we signed to NGP and released our first full length album "Burning out", an album that could sum up my life to that point. An album that had been waiting to be released from me. Around this time Dani Blood had joined the band and we were now a duo. Taking up synths and samples she soon realized that switching to bass guitar was where her heart belonged. We have since left NGP and feel like we are fully starting to come into our sound.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Remi- DRUGS

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Remi- Like I said. We grew up in the early 2000s post hardcore era and it was pure magic in Toronto and even more in the surrounding areas. Now based out of Toronto, Canada we were adopted by the goth/Industrial scene for a little while. I have rejected them to some degree as I prefer to be alone rather than a group of people all talking shit about each other, shitting on their friends’ bands, gatekeeping events and so on. As far as bands go in this scene I wouldn't recommend one.

Dani- The goth scene here is unaccepting and unoriginal. They need us more than we need them.

4. How would you describe your style?

Remi- Grunge goth?

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Remi- 2016 Eye Steal "self-titled

2017 "BURNING OUT" (Full length)

2020 "NO HOPE NO FUTURE" EP

Expectations have limits... Instead come to our music without any and just listen.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Remi- Yes. Definitely. We’ll be releasing our second full length album in the fall 2022. And we're both so pumped on this. We've dropped a few tracks from it already that you can check out on our platforms.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Remi- August 27th we headline Montreal GOTHFEST, then I hear a Toronto date on the wind and then we return to Montreal in the fall where we Join Aesthetic Perfection on their American Psycho Tour.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Remi- :| Come oooonnn we both no there’s NO HOPE NO FUTURE.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Remi- Type Eye Steal into the internet.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Remi-I’m sitting here with my buddy choke and he said "the realness" so we'll leave it at that for now.

Seeker Pearl Talks of New Single's, Current Single's, and Shows Too!

Metalcore band SEEKER PEARL have not one but three single's out and about, with another set of three track's set to be released! The band has been playing some show's as well, with much else to be told about all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We have each played in too many bands to name, the last band we played in was where we met. We were in a metalcore band together, but when covid hit, that project kind of fell apart. The other members also were ready to be done but the three of us wanted to continue to work on music together so, slowly over the pandemic shutdown, we formed this new band.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name is a reference to an ancient story.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Chicago, IL – USA

Awesome local bands: TANZEN, Psithurism, Sun Crusher, Out Run The Sunlight, HEET DETH, In Search of Solace

4. How would you describe your style?

Modern Metalcore with Industrial and Electronic influences. Heavy, dark, and deep.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We currently have three singles released and three more songs in the recording process that will be released over the coming months. Expect exceptional musicianship, interesting lyrics, moving melodies, and heavy anthemic progressions.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we are currently recording and mixing the next three singles.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Right now, we are playing single dates in the Chicago area, we are working on a more comprehensive calendar of events for the fall and winter.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We have some exciting new releases that take the band further in a crossover direction where we are blending our favorite elements of alt-metal, metalcore, djent, cyberpunk, trip hop, glitch, deep dub, and industrial genres. We’re really excited about the newest songs we will be releasing.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Please check out seekerpearl.com for merch and links to our socials.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

That they are the architects of their own lives, they are the makers of themselves. We want to encourage and support.  For us, music helps motivate and lift us up, we want to share that feeling.

SYLOSIS RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE "HEAVY IS THE CROWN"

Thrash metal masters SYLOSIS have returned with their first new music of 2022. The band, who are set to headline the inaugural Knotfest Presents Pulse Of The Maggots festival and play the main stage at Bloodstock this week, have released a new single titled "Heavy Is The Crown". The track ebbs and flows as the band's signature, thunderous grooves give way to a masterfully crafted chorus.

Maestro Josh Middleton comments "'Heavy Is The Crown' is the first of a trilogy of singles we’re releasing this year – these songs were developed during the writing of the next SYLOSIS record and although weren’t right for the album, are perfect for some standalone bangers. 'Heavy Is The Crown' is a song that all our fans can get into and also highlights some of the progression in the band's sound."

EXMORTUS Joins Nuclear Blast & Releases New Single "Oathbreaker"

Southern Californian death/thrash battalion EXMORTUS has officially joined the roster of metal's heaviest label Nuclear Blast Records. In addition to the signing announcement, the band is giving fans a taste of their highly-anticipated next album with the single "Oathbreaker," which is available for streaming now and accompanied by the music video created by Wayne Joyner (Dream Theater, Devin Townsend).

Commenting on the signing, founding guitarist Jadran “Conan” Gonzalez says:

"We are very excited to announce that our upcoming album will be our first with Nuclear Blast as our new label. We're working with them to bring you what we consider to be our best album yet!"

Adding about the single, Conan states: "'Oathbreaker' is the perfect teaser for the new album. Not only is it fast, heavy and filled with shred, but it's inspired by Tolkien's haunting lore of the Dead Men of Dunharrow in the Lord of the Rings: the Return of the King. While our previous work focused more on the heroic aspect of fantasy and sword & sorcery, this album expresses the darker side with tragic heroes and horrors of humanity. Enjoy the new track cause we feel it belongs in our setlists for years to come!"

EXMORTUS' new single was produced and mixed by Zack Ohren (Machine Head, Fallujah) and is the first new music since 2018's acclaimed full-length "The Sound of Steel" and subsequent 2019 EP, "Legions of the Undead." The band recently supported Death Angel on the road and are expected to announce additional touring soon.

Wednesday 13 Releases New Video Single "You're So Hideous"

Heavy horror punk icon WEDNESDAY 13 has slithered his way to the top of the horrendous heights of rock, punk and metal with his electrifying solo music and as front man of renowned horror punk supergroup Murderdolls, amassing a colossal cult-following along the way.

On October 7, 2022, the undisputed harbinger of metal horror returns, following up on 2019’s acclaimed Necrophaze (#2 US Heatseekers) with 'Horrifier' – a brand new slathering of 11 terrifyingly grim and groovy anthems to get blood pumping and brains melting!

Showcasing a blend of styles plucked from the band’s 20-year career, Horrifier weaves an underlying sonic thread reminiscent of WEDNESDAY 13’s roots – a raucous blend of ballistic metal and macabre heavy rock that’ll have new and diehard fans alike ascending from the depths. As always, various tracks on the album are inspired by classic horror flicks, this time circling cult-favorite slasher John Carpenter’s Halloween and the iconic Christine supernatural thrillers.

Today, get a first listen to Horrifier with the album's first single, "You're so Hideous", out now and accompanied by an Exorcist inspired official music video! The track stuns with danceable 90s sonic flavor, a sing-a-long chorus and an unforgettable lead riff that is sure to be heard at venues this fall!

WEDNESDAY 13 says about "You're so Hideous":

“'You’re so Hideous' is such a catchy track and it’s one of the very first ones I wrote for the album. Lyrically, it’s a modern day Medusa story… Beware the stare into her eyes. The music video was of course inspired by the Exorcist film and was a lot of fun recreating that."

Watch the official video for "You're so Hideous" HERE.

Atlanta, GA-based group PISTOLS AT DAWN recently released a video for the stunning “Fly”, taken from their upcoming ‘Ascension’, which is due August 19 via Megaforce/MRI Entertainment.

Speaking about the track, the band have said:

“We wanted to feature women as the subject of the video, not as an object. Feminine strength and girl power are themes that are very relevant at this moment and are uncharacteristic of most hard rock videos. We have a powerful love song in ‘Fly’ and our goal was to exhibit passion and feeling in a relatively unique way for our genre of music.”

Hope Darling Discusses New Album and Themselves!

Melodic rock n' roll band HOPE DARLING have a new album out soon, with more music in-store as well. The band discusses themselves, music, and what's planned for them next.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Hope Darling was formed from a group of friends looking for a musical outlet from the routine of our lives, eventually writing and creating music to satisfy our own musical taste and ears.  The music eventually made its way to more listeners and kind of took off from there.  Next thing we know we are on local radio, offered performance slots locally and nationally, and eventually getting a call from Spike Lee’s production company wanting to place one of our songs on his Netflix show.

Hope Darling joins together the talents of Gabriel Sanchez lead singer and primary song writer, Jason Donadio on lead guitar and vocals, Jeff Durso on the drums, Frank Danceyon rhythm guitar and vocals, and finally Richard Gomez on bass guitar and vocals.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Hope Darling is more than just a unique name, Hope Darling was a friend, a sister a daughter, and a music lover.  She unfortunately passed away unexpectedly many years ago

When Gabriel had the opportunity to form this band he thought the name was so unique  he contacted Hope Darling’s  family to get her blessing and that’s when Hope Darling the name became a band.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area in Florida. There are quite a few talented bands and artists here in our area. Just look at any venue here and you will find incredible talent performing on any given night

4. How would you describe your style?

Melodic, anthemic, emotional charged rock and roll.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We are about to release a new 9 song album.  Its 3 years of songwriting, recording and arranging.  Filled with melody, lyrical storytelling, emotion, and rock fused instrumentation.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Besides finishing the new album I mentioned we are always fine tuning our current music and in the process of writing new music for another album.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are playing out mainly local shows, but in the past year have been fortunate to be able to play nationally.  We are always on the look out for performance opportunities anywhere and everywhere.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

To play bigger stages, to play for bigger audiences, to get our music to the ears of the masses and make Hope Darling a household name.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is found on all streaming outlets, and even on Touchtunes Jukeboxes found in over 65, 000 locations in the United States and Europe.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Each member of this band has a different take on what we expect our listeners to take from our music.  If could be the soulful melodies, the cinematic and anthemic vibe, our arena rock sound, the storytelling lyrics, and the imagery of each song are just a few.  I would say we would agree that after listening to our music for the first time we want them asking for more Hope Darling.

We Are Sovereign Talks of Recent Content, Covid and More!

Pop punk metalcore band WE ARE SOVEREIGN have been around for sometime, releasing music including a recent single, forming in 2019, the band talks of covid, content, and more below.

1. Tell me about making the music video for "Nostalgia (Acceptance)".

Laura: Hey! First of all thanks for supporting our band it's a pleasure to do the interview.

The making of Nostalgia started with the idea of having clocks hung absolutely everywhere. I was thinking of how the whole Nostalgic theme is based on time so it'd be really cool to reflect on that throughout the video.  With myself writing the music videos what I usually do is start with a small idea and then build off and stem from that. As times goes on it gradually comes together as I start to add things. My imagination is wild as people will say who know me quite well haha so my brain is always thinking of things or is inspired to write. We filmed the video with Loki Films in one day and actually filmed the main performance scene in our guitarists Seb’s sisters living room haha! She let us have free reign with it as she was due to decorate which she held off for us just so we could use the living room bless her!

When writing the video, I really wanted to bring home what the songs stands for, for example locking away the polaroid’s at the end is a visual representation that we can store memories but in reality the hardest part is having to let go and you can never relive or get those exact moments back ever again. We had some fire spinners which was amazing to film, all the stuff used in the video like the kerrang posters, ADTR hoodie, the school tie, the barbies it's all actually my exact stuff from when I was a kid/teenager haha! Josh who played the part of sneaking out the window we bought him a wig to really throw back and he actually had nostalgia tattooed on him in real life a few weeks before the video. We just added some ink to wipe away on the day to make it look fresh. We filmed at a clock shop in Nottingham, the scenes in the bedroom/stairs were filmed in our drummer Alfie's bedroom.

For the main performance room, me and Ash (clean vocalist) went down to decorate the room a few weeks before filming. We spent the day spray painting our logo on the walls, hanging up the clocks, sticking up the polaroid’s which if you look carefully you'll see they're pictures of us all from when we were younger. It was an amazing day and we absolutely love working with Shaun Hodson.

I feel like he understands my brain and exactly what we want to achieve visually as a band. When I'm writing the videos I have so much confidence that every time he's going to deliver. He's a talented guy and we work so well together.

2. Why did you decide upon this track to be made into a single let alone a music video?

After the pandemic ended, we spent a lot of time in the studio finishing up vocals and finalizing the material we had. I think with us a band we have the "it feels right" feeling when we make decisions. Might sound mad to an outsider haha but when we know we know haha! We always follow that feeling and with Nostalgia hearing it back as a final we just knew it was going to be the next one. I also planned all the themes of the songs before I met the rest of the guys so I'm constantly working on music video ideas for each track. With the Nostalgia video it just naturally fell into place and the ideas were flowing so with that we also knew it was ready to go as a single and video.

3. Where did the band's name come from and does it have a meaning to it?

In the early days in the creation of We Are Sovereign me and a potential band member sat together at the time and wrote down loads of band name ideas and that one ended up being the final one chosen that stood out and represented the band's story the most. The band name idea evolved from the concept of being in loads of bands previously and with us all getting older this realistically is our last shot of making our dreams come true as musicians. We Are Sovereign stands for the representation that this band we feel is the highest we’ve ever felt musically and visually amongst everything we’ve ever been a part of. The name represents power and being on top of your game and I felt this band is definitely the outcome of all the things we’ve learnt in previous bands so the name fits perfectly.

4. Why did you decide upon the genre choice that you did?

To be honest overall the genre thing naturally happened. When I started We Are Sovereign I never intended on a set genre it was more of a what feels right to make or what comes out when we're trying to express ourselves. I always feel when writing there should be no rules if it sounds good and it works then for me genres go out the window haha! You'll hear more of a variety of genres in our future stuff where we definitely mix it up. We have a blend of pop punk, soft ballads while keeping our metalcore roots throughout. I'm proper into adding samples into our songs which you will hear in our tracks and now it's naturally become a part of us.  I think as a band we're so broad with our music taste so we'll definitely be continuing to experiment with our influences going forward.

5. The band has been a band for only 3 years, what has developed or changed since your forming back in 2019?

We've all definitely progressed as musicians and found our sound as a band and also as individual musicians. The main thing is our sound. If you could hear our demos from back in 2019 you possibly wouldn't recognize them haha! I started the demos musically and then met Ash co vocalist first. I'd say the demos have progressed and come along way as it took a while to find the final members but we also had a stall with covid and lockdown happening which gave us more time. In that time we definitely found ourselves and what worked for us. Me and Ash definitely have a different approach to writing vocals to what we did back in 2019 so in reality a lot has changed.

6. Would you say that your a covid band, since covid-19 began in 2019?

We wouldn't class ourselves as a covid band as the idea of the band and everything began before covid was even thought of or a thing. We would say that covid had it's positives and negatives for the band though haha! It was a nightmare finding final members as we couldn't leave the house or mix, we couldn't move forward and record etc. We were sat on these demos raring to go it was so frustrating.  The positive was it gave us more time. We were sat on so much time which is so precious. It meant we could plan and make sure that when we came on to the music scene we had it right.

7. Has the band been out on the road for 2022, if so where have you been and played?

So as a band we have done everything backwards but not by choice, it's just happened this way! When the first restriction from lockdown was lifted we recorded our first single and music video we then had another restriction which stopped us from rehearsing or having 5 people

in the same room, it was a nightmare. Madly we only found a final line up in 2021. So as much as it might sound crazy that we've not played a show yet even though I started it in 2019, we've only had a full line up and been a full band for just over a year. I suppose we've done it a different way but it's worked for us. We're currently rehearsing and preparing behind closed doors for live shows. We have got a festival booked in, for anybody reading keep your eyes on our socials for updates. We can't wait to play shows! We're so excited for the future of the band!

8. Besides this single, you have another track released titled "Bridges Burnt Lessons Learnt (Betrayal)" tell me about it, video and song itself.

It was the first single and music video we ever did as a band and was definitely a special moment and experience. It was also special to me as it was the first music video I've fully written. We had Ryan Tuck O'Leary from Fit For A King guest on the cleans on the track which was also pretty special.

We came straight out of lockdown laid down the vocals and went for it and booked in the video. The song itself is based on the subject Betrayal and also based to some degree on a true story. The video was so fun to put together and all of it was filmed in Nottingham. It was a bit crazy carrying a coffin into a graveyard in the middle of the afternoon haha!

The concept of the video is to visually represent that human decisions and behavior's can have drastic consequences. We wanted to go really deep with it and really portray forms of betrayal. We filmed the performance part of it in the Savoy Cinema in Nottingham which was pretty cool. I got to smash plates and set paper on fire so it was a pretty mad day overall haha. It was also the first ever time we performed together as a band in that video. Also a fun fact for you it wasn't supposed to be our first single but once we stepped into the studio and heard it come to life we and laid down the vocals we fell in love with it so it felt right to be. It was the first ever song we are sovereign made and laid vocals to in the studio.

9. Does the band have any new music in the works like an EP or album?

We have loads of new music we can't wait to show you! There could be an big announcement for a release in 2023....can't give too much away though haha!

10. How would you describe your style?

We’d describe our music as a mix of raw story telling real life emotion accompanied by music created from every genre you can imagine

blended together. It’s not just music it’s a real life story but instead of being read out it’s being sung and screamed out. We have synth, we have emotional guitar solos, we have screams over pianos, electronics and no song sounds the same.

We’re a band with music you can listen to and walk away and think I’ve felt that I’ve been at that point in my life. If you imagine a mix of 2000 metal core, elements of pop punk and post hardcore along with synth strings and choir you’re about there.

11. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to us on all major streaming platforms such as spotify, apple music, amazon we'd recommend heading to YouTube to watch

our music videos as there's fire spinning, smashing of plates, being left at the alter, madness really!

We have sexy merch available at - https://wearesovereignband.bigcartel.com/

12. Would you like to add anything more that you have planned for this year and the next or in general?

For the rest of the year we're preparing for a huge release, filming more music videos and rehearsing ready for hitting the road. We might go quiet for a little bit but we can assure you we're going to appear with a huge bang.

The Oceans Discusses New Album and Shows!

Alternative pop rockers THE OCEANS have their debut album out this fall, with some previous EP's and single's as well released. A few shows are set where the band is set to play as well. Lots more is discussed by the band all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Linus Valdemar and Dan Joe form the duo The Oceans. Met at a jam in 2014, ended at a morning party where we decided to form a band and not long after we started writing and recording songs. In 2018 and 2019 we released an EP dilogy which was well received and reviewed in our homeland as well as abroad. And on the 9th of September our debut album called ‘Love Above All’ will be released on Celebration Records.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

After some time of writing and recording songs we felt we were ready to release a demo. We needed a name and had a few suggestions. Linus came up with The Oceans and it felt and looked right. It reminds us that is everything is connected and that we are all part of the same stream, structure and world.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of Copenhagen, Denmark. The music scene there is very diverse and vibrant when dig into the small clubs, the small scenes and the whole upcoming scene. We have a lot of great bands and artists like School Of X, Prisma, Go Go Berlin, Luster, The Entrepreneurs etc.

4. How would you describe your style?

We describe it as Noise Pop, Nugaze, New Wave, Shoegaze. On our new album the sound has evolved to also include an Alternative Pop/Indie Pop kind of sound.

5. What have you released that we can check out?

The shoegaze single ‘So Long’ and the Noisepop dilogy ‘EP I’ and ‘EP II’. They can expect Riotous guitars, insistent beats, captivating melodies and a pulsing, paradoxical sea of chaos, noise, and serenity.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our debut album ‘Love Above All’ due the 9th of September on Celebration Records.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are playing a few shows in Denmark (Copenhagen and Odense) in October and have a few dates in Germany in November to be announced.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Climbing the next steps up the latter. Tour in Germany, the whole of Scandinavia, then maybe UK. Try to get booked for bigger festivals and showcase festivals in Europe.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

All streaming platforms (YouTube, Spotify). Right now you can buy our vinyl on bandcamp. Soon on Celebration Records.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The melody. If that stays with the listener the rest of the day, we’ve succeeded.

Gasoline Thrill Talks of New Music and More!

Rock n' rollers GASOLINE THRILL have been around for a while now, releasing an EP, album, and couple of single's as well. The band even has some all new music in the works as well too. See what else the band has to say about themselves and the music that they make below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

I formed the band in 2009 when I met Martha Lewis (guitar) . We soon recruited Monica Nixx on bass. Our first drummer was called Mags and we played a few gigs together. Mags left during the recording of our EP in 2010.  Dave guy joined during that time. When Monica Nixx left the UK in 2016 and Dave Guy in 2019, our friends Amir (from Black Sixteen) and Bish Bishop (from SuziToy) filled in on bass and drums.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We were originally called Catfight when we were an all-girl- band. Our EP ‘Never go back’ was released under that name. We then wanted to change our name to reflect the new line up. We were starting to hit the road quite a lot and we had that conversation about the price of petrol and how the American word Gasoline sounded great. Thrill came up to our mind when we tried to describe ourself at that time. We were and still are thrill seekers!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?

It all started in London. We used to all live quite central, Kentish town, Archway, Bethnal Green, Hampstead then Walthamstow and South London, Cricklewood. The music scene is vibrant in London but saturated too. There are too many options and the Londoner is spoiled which affects the myriads of bands who overplay this area. Although we played some amazing gigs with amazing crowds at The Unicorn, The Bar Fly, The Scala and Nambucca, The Birds’ Nest Personally, I have always enjoyed playing out of London much more especially up north when we went to Manchester and surrounding areas.

Are there any local bands you could recommend?

So many to name … The Healthy Junkies are doing so much to keep the scene alive in London. They deserve to be checked out.

4. How would you describe your style?

Rock n’ roll with post grunge, post punk influences.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

1 EP: ‘Never go Back’

1 Album BURN + Studio updates (on YouTube)

2 singles ‘Blind’ and ‘Once’

We don’t do the same thing twice. Our singles and music videos are different. We have really evolved and we are constantly evolving and we are not stuck in one genre.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we do! I just sent a new song I am happy with to the rest of the band to add their bits. Waiting for them to send more fantastic ideas to work from.  With Covid lockdowns. we had to change the way we work from jamming together to working online more! We live far apart now so we are keeping this way of working. You have to if you want to be productive. In a way, it is  great to be able to make music together that way. It gives you the freedom to be where you want to be and continue to be productive and compose new songs together. It works for me.

 7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Sure, we will play some shows soon. We have amazing news coming soon. Just can tell now. Watch our space. Subscribe to our YouTube channel, follow us on Instagram and Facebook. We have something huge coming soon. You don’t want to miss it.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Write and release more songs, videos, play more shows and festivals and go with the flow.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, Shazam. We sold all our merch we had during the Burn tour. We need to make more. Now we only have our songs! We will have exciting merch when we tour next so check and follow us on Instagram to be the first to see the new merch.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

That they liked it enough that they would want to listen to it again, dive in to the GT back catalogue, check us out online and join our community on social media because this is a great way to interact with our listeners.
