Blending alternative rock, pop punk, emo, and post hardcore, amongst other genres is how BROOKLINE defines their sound. With this sound, they have released three EP releases, the third being just released, them even going as far as doing a show for it, with much more in-store. The band talks about this EP release, the show, and much else.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Brookline originated in 2018. Originally we were a four piece, Mikey Pace on guitar, Dae Bennett on bass, Chris Fox on drums, and we had a different singer at the time. Our vocalist Tommy Carter had never been in a band before and met us through Chris’s mom at work at the perfect time.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Our name just comes from a street name near where Mikey grew up. He had some friends who lived there and thought it would be a cool name for a band.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We’re from Upstate New York. The Albany scene used to be booming and we’re trying to bring it back. There have been big names out of Albany such as State Champs and Young Culture. Some local bands we would recommend are our friends in Grape Juice! El Modernist, Violence, and Bvlcony.
4. How would you describe your style?
We have a wide variety of influences. We don’t know how to define our sound so we just say alt rock, but we blend pop punk, emo, and post hardcore amongst other genres.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We just released our third EP “Apparitions,” and we also have a little acoustic EP out. You can expect hard hitting instrumentals, catchy melodies and meaningful and relatable lyrics.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Our latest EP was just released a week ago, so we will be trying to push that and playing shows to support it for a little while, but we will definitely be writing again in the near future.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We just played an EP release show in Saratoga NY that went over great! We don’t officially have anything planned at the moment, but we would love to set up a little east coast run to close out the year.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
I think we just want to write the best music we can, and music that we love. We definitely want to branch out of New York more as we haven’t been able to do so too much yet.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Our music is available for streaming everywhere! Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube, anywhere you can get music.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
We just hope that people can rock out to our music and also relate to the lyrics and have them resonate with the listener, knowing we’ve been through some of the same things and they’re not alone.
