Overhate Talks of Music Matters and Show Plans!

Progressive thrash death metal band OVERHATE have three album's thus far, with newer music in the works expected out soon enough. The band also has plans to tour for their newest release with further plans for more shows come the summer time next year! The band talks of these matters at hand below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

This band was formed in November of 2003. Back then the line-up was entirely different, and I should say the style we used to play was also a bit different to what we play now. Overhate was born out of the ashes of a band that used to be called ‘Mermelada Maker’ and that band used to have a more ‘new metal’ sound. Then there were line-up changes, and that was when I entered the band. The line-up that was left there consisted of pure extreme metal lovers, so we changed the band’s name and went up full throttle with a progressive thrash metal sound.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We just wanted a one word name that could give you an Idea of the band’s sound, so there it came.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based in Caracas, Venezuela. The scene here is small, and due to the country’s problem a lot of bands / musicians simply emigrated from here, and are scattered all around the world. Some good active bands are: Natastor, Mind in Lost, Dischord, Nomen Omen, Pray, and a very long etc.

 4. How would you describe your style?

It should just be considered as progressive thrash / death metal. But, this band uses clean vocals and some other elements here and there, so I would love for the listener to decide what style we play. Metal englobes it all.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we’ve released 3 albums:

    1. God in a trench, our debut album, in October 2007

    2. Relentless is our Strength, our second album, in June 2011

    3. New Beginnings are Met, our most recent album, in May 2020.

We’ve done three videos so far:

    1. No change Today, off of Relentless is our Strength.

    2. The Penance and the Lesson, off of New Beginnings are Met.

    3. Our Problem, due this year, also off of New Beginnings are Met.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Certainly. There’s a left over from the sessions for New Beginnings are Met, which we’re releasing as a stand alone single. It is a 12 minute epic, so this is why it goes alone.

Then next year, we’ll start recording our follow up for New beginnings are met, so you will have new music from us coming, that’s for sure!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We want to tour for the newest record, because since the pandemic came we weren’t able to. There’s a Europe tour in the works, and our booking agent have advised us that the best is for summer 2023, so I really hope this gets done.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Apart from recording and releasing music, we plan to be a regular touring act. That’d be the only way to build it all.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

At every digital platform available, and use bandcamp to buy our stuff!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We’d like the listener to be blown away! That simple.
