Modern metal band UNMUTED has released only a couple of track's, with new music always being worked upon. Plans are in the works for shows and touring come the end into this next year. See what else is talked about below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Unmuted is a solo-project that launched in the middle of 2022. I am the vocalist of the Dubai-based metal band, Svengali - and since the pandemic I started livestreaming on Twitch, where I preformed my band’s music and covers.
In late 2021 I started putting together old demos and tracks that I had laying around with my producer Rayan Bailouni (Coat of Arms).
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The livestream I started during the pandemic is called Unmuted Show.
This name came up because in the first few episodes I would accidentally mute the guests while live on stream and JM Elias (Svengali, Damage Rite) suggested we call the show “Unmuted” to always remember to UNMUTE the guests while live.
This name evolved to represent all the projects that I took on since then, and when it came time to release music… I naturally put it under the same umbrella .
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
The band is based out of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Representing the scene here is something I’m very passionate about and is the foundation of all things Unmuted.
In comparison to the rest of the world, the metal scene here is very small, but very strong. The sense of comradery is something I haven’t seen in many other places.
Some of the bands I think everyone should check out:
Coat of Arms. Metarust. Callous Minds. Nervecell. Aramaic. Amen Graves.
4. How would you describe your style?
I think we fall under the Modern Metal style. It has a little bit of everything, with a modern production approach and no limitations to take things to either end of the heavy spectrum.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
So far, I’ve released three tracks;
Purpose which featured Abzy from Kuwaiti Progressive Metal band Wazin.
The second was Creation featuring Mark Hunter from Ohio’s metalcore masters Chimaira
And the latest release is Vultures which features Rayan Bailouni from Dubai’s Coat of Arms and the producer of all the Unmuted tracks.
You can expect a steady output of music for the next year or so, that will be released as singles through all streaming platforms.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, constantly working on new music for Unmuted and now my band Svengali is also in the writing phase for the next album.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
For Unmuted playing shows or touring is not on the table as of now. Svengali is currently booking shows and tours for the end of 2022 into 2023.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
To keep releasing music and working with musicians that I admire by featuring them on the tracks!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to the music on all streaming platforms. You can also join the livestreams on twitch or learn more about the whole Unmuted project by heading to www.unmuted.show.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I would love nothing more than if the music provokes any sort of emotion in the listener and that emotion stays with them.
