Rockers FACTORY came together from numerous other projects, going on to create this band and writing and recording what is their debut album and then follow-up album out this next year. Shows are also in the works for the next year, with a lot else planned as well. The band talks of these matters below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Andy (keyboards, 12-string guitar, vocals) & Tony (lead guitar, electric violin, vocals) were in one local Hastings band, Laurie (drums, vocals) was in another, and Jaffa (bass, vocals) was in another. They were just a mutual admiration society until Laurie asked the other three if they’d like to form a band.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Unfortunately the origin of the name has been lost in the mists of time. Perhaps we thought we were making music, therefore some kind of music factory.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Originally we were based in Hastings, UK, which we still think of as our hometown, although none of us live there now. Hastings has always been a great music town, but we’re a bit out of touch with that scene now.
4. How would you describe your style?
Our style is a mixture of influences from the classic ‘70s bands we grew up with - The Who and Genesis in particular. We’re very versatile, and go from melodic rock to heavy rock to folk rock to Prog rock, with some Irish jigs thrown in for good measure.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We released an album in 2020 called Aiming High, on Rock Avenue Records USA. Most of the tracks were played on radio stations around the world at some point, and we got great reviews.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
We have a new album called Back In The Time Machine, due to be released in January 2023. The first single from it, Angel From The Sky, is being released on October 14th, 2022.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We are planning shows for next year. We’re playing Blues Bar Tring in Hertfordshire on Thursday August 3rd, with more dates to be announced soon.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Right now we’re just focused on promoting the new album, making videos for it, and playing shows. We’ll see what happens after that!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
We’re on all the usual streaming and downloading sites, plus we have a YouTube channel.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
The quality of musicianship, amazing vocal harmonies, variety of styles, and the fun we have doing it, which definitely cones through!
