Recorruptor Discusses New Album Coming Soon!

Death metal band RECORRUPTOR have three releases out and about, two album's and an EP split all out now. An upcoming third album is in the works with an expected release in the next year. No new shows are planned yet but hopefully soon. The band discusses all of this below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band was formed in 2013 by Dustin Cook but didn’t come to full realization until 2016. The full line-up was comprised of Clint A. Franklin (vocals), Dustin Cook (Guitar), Seth Earl (Guitar), Alex Schmidt (Bass), and Josh Moore (Drums). By the time of 2017 we went into the studio to record our debut album, Bloodmoon, which was received decently by the local scene. Other than that, we just played a lot of shows around the area to try and promote the debut and to gain more of a fanbase since we finally had music released.

In the middle of playing shows, and directly after the release of Bloodmoon, we had already started writing our sophomore album, The Funeral Corridor. We entered the studio again in 2019 to record what we thought as a great follow-up, with better song writing and production. Unfortunately, shortly after the recording process, Dustin departed due to artistic differences in early 2020. With him gone, we acquired Caleb Susman (Guitar) who helped breathe new life into these new set of songs. Finally in August 2020, we released The Funeral Corridor, and it was received well through multiple metal sites, along with its single being included on the late Trevor Strnad’s (The Black Dahlia Murder) playlist that he did for Metal Injection. While not being able to play any shows for a majority of 2020 and 2021, we still made some headway into new territory, gaining new listeners and fans.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

There isn’t really any origin to the band name. The band was under a previous name, “Rotting Inside” for a couple years, but then got changed to Recorruptor since it just sounded better to the band.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based out of Lansing, Michigan USA. Unfortunately, there isn’t a huge scene in Lansing due to most of the venues never recovering and being shut down during the pandemic. That has made us realize that we have amazing fans in the Detroit and Grand Rapids area due to how well shows pack in where we play. We’re always treated great every time we play those areas.

There are a lot of bands that we love and recommend, but a few that come to mind are: Throne, Nethergate, Portal of Pazuzu, Vestigial, Redlord, Manic Outburst, Drink Their Blood, and Centenary.

4. How would you describe your style?

Death Metal. We have a lot of influences, but that the end of the day, we just want to make something visceral. If you’re a fan of Cattle Decapitation, Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, or just death metal in general, check us out.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have our debut album, Bloodmoon. Our sophomore album, The Funeral Corridor. Our Split EP with Redlord called, Horrendous (released Oct. 25th 2022). People can expect blast beats, fast guitars, disgusting vocals, and pounding bass.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are working on our 3rd album right now. We’ll be recording in Spring and looking at looking at releasing late Summer/early Fall 2023.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We don’t have any new shows planned as of now, since we are taking the rest of the year to finish writing and rehearsing the new material for the studio. Touring is looking to be possible for us hopefully sometime soon with the release of the new album.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

The future of our band is to keep going, write stuff we love, and tour.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to us on really any streaming platform, i.e., Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Deezer, YouTube, Amazon Music, etc.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

What we want them to remember most from their first listen is how they felt when they heard what noise we can produce as a band, and wanting to keep coming back for more.
