Rock band ELF QUEEN have not one but three album's so far released, with a new video out currently as well. Hopefully some shows will be in the works too! The band talks about these matters and much else below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Uncle Hauk: So there I was at this tavern called the Orcs Head when this Elf started singing.... Kelsey and I worked on a holiday variety show a few years back, and there was instant musical chemistry. She's a fantastic singer!
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Uncle Hauk: We're building a band mythology to tie our songs and story together. Kelsey is the Queen of the Elves- I'm her kindly Uncle and Advisor. Thus- Elf Queen. The story is that Kelsey is in exile after the kingdom fell due to treachery from within. We were sold out to the race of men. As such, we're rebuilding our kingdom, and taking revenge on those who betrayed us.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Uncle Hauk: Los Angeles- there are many amazing bands here, not even sure where to start. Brick Top Blaggers are great Irish Punk, Black Heart Throbs do cool indy music. I've seen Tornadic a few times- great old school thrash!
4. How would you describe your style?
Uncle Hauk: Heathen Rock, think Dio fronted by Heart.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Uncle Hauk: We've release 3 albums so far, "Glory to the Brave," "Breathe Out Fire", and "Requiem". Glory and Breathe are more our usual fare- rock/metal base with female vocals and some electronic and folk instruments. Requiem is a full on art music album based on the Voluspa, more dark Classical than anything else.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Uncle Hauk: We just released a video for "Tonight" from Glory to the Brave. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFfzZOvy-yo. We're also working on a new 6 song EP. That's a return to more traditional Elf Queen music.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Uncle Hauk: Working on that- nothing confirmed yet, but soon.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Uncle Hauk: Make music. Change hearts and minds. Keep making music.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Uncle Hauk: Elfqueen.bandcamp.com is the best place. We're on all the streaming sites too.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Uncle Hauk: Believe in yourself, and fight for yourself too. Glory to the Brave!
