Alternative band REVENGE OF THE FALLEN have a couple of EP's, single's, and an album, along with some new music in the works too, as well as some shows! The band discusses of their music, shows, and more below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Revenge Of The Fallen are a 5 piece metal band from Lisbon, Portugal. We started back in late 2017, and played our first gig the following year. Some of us knew each other from other musical endeavor's, or from mutual friends, except our lead singer, who got in touch with us through a spiderman meme we posted online defying vocalist to come and make a rehearsal with us.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
With all due respect to the Transformers franchise, we had no idea, at the time, that the name was already “taken”.
For us it just met a couple of guys, making music together, who had their ups and downs in life, specially music-wise speaking. We wanted to make a musical statement, proving ourselves that we could do better music than ever, taking our every day feelings and condensing it to a good song.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based in Lisbon, the city capital of Portugal. Musically, from what we can say, the main metal genre at the current time is Death Metal. It’s a style, like so many others, we can appreciate, but we’re not into it. There could be some subtle nuances in our songs, here and there, but it will never be the main style we’ll play.
There are so many good bands here that we’d feel bad not to name them all.
Still, we’d like to throw a shoutout to WAKO, The Voynich Code, Vella, Ho-Chi Minh, Bizarra Locomotiva, Equaleft, and we could go on for hours… There is excellent music being made here.
4. How would you describe your style?
It’s the trickiest question one can make us!
We have a hard time describing the music we make, because we’re influenced by so many different genres..
I’d like to thing, personally, we’re somewhat between groove, alternative and a little bit of electronic music.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have 2 EP’s, “Pareidolia” (released in 2018) and “UnBroken (released in 2019), a one off single, “The Ballad Of The Saints” (released in January 2021) and our recent album “Echo Chambers” (released in April 2022).
If people ever listen to it, chronologically, they’ll always hear a huge “crescendo” in quality. That’s what we are so proud of, in terms of achievements, musically speaking.
We can definitely say that “Echo Chamber” is the best work we’ve done… so far!
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, yes we do. We are taking some time off between shows, to record some riffs and ideas that might become the next ROTF album. Still, our main focus will be promoting the hell out of this album that we’re so proud of.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We’ve had a good run of shows, domestically, during this year. Played at a well known metal fest, with some power house bands, and some other great shows that got us some new fans and got us some talking about. That’s our main goal: always put up the best show, so people can go home happy and satisfied that their well earned money was spent on something meaningful and memorable. For 2023 we are planning something we’ve never done before, different things actually. But for the time being, we’ll leave it on the plans. In due time, we’ll tell the world what we’re up to!
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We’re always into making music that makes us grow as musicians, essentially. We were never the kind of pretentious band that follows trends or hypes. It’s just not our deal.
As we said previously, from record to record, we can admire our music growing, booming, and becoming more technical, groovier, melodical, which is just the way we like it.
On “Echo Chambers” we started to mess with electronic music or elements, here and there, synths and beats, and it was a huge success and a tremendous “added value” to the music we make.
Although the future no one knows about, we are motivated to defy ourselves as musicians again, and make even better.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to our music on every music stream platform, from Spotify, to Deezer, Apple Music, etc. We are everywhere!
You can buy our music and help us on the continuation of this project or you can buy our merch through our Facebook page store.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
We’d like people to remember that the music we do is the result of the life of the 5 of us. It’s our happiness and our frustrations, our love and our hate, all condensed in 4 or 5 minutes, each song. If people can enjoy and appreciate our music and relate to it, great!
