SUN Talks of Old and New Content!

Pop, rock, metal act SUN considers her genres of choice "brutal pop", hence forth since formation sometime ago, an EP was released not that long ago, along with a follow-up EP, with newer material already in the works for a debut album! SUN talks with us about music and the plans ahead.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

I have always wanted to mix Pop and Metal. I was 13 when the words « Brutal pop » came into my head. SUN is my solo project but on stage I play with a drummer and a bassist / keyboard player.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

SUN is the artist name I chose for myself. It is an homage to my father who died on the eve of my 6th birthday. At that time I had chosen a sunflower to be engraved on his tombstone. A few years back, when his tomb was removed I chose the name SUN as an homage.

3. Where are you based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I am based in Paris. The music scene is really good, a lot of very good local bands like Toybloïd or Imparfait.

4. How would you describe your style?

I like to describe my style as a mix of Pop Songwriting mixed with elements of Rock and Metal. That's why I call it Brutal Pop.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

My first EP « Brutal Pop » was released in 2020, and my second EP « Brutal Pop 2 » was released on January 13th. Both are my signature Brutal Pop genre but the first one had more of a garage sound, Brutal Pop 2 has a bigger production.

I really feel like I got the sound I wanted on Brutal Pop 2.

I also do a lot of collaborations, with the Geneva Camerata Orchestra based in Geneva, or French composer Camille Rocailleux.

I always take my Brutal Pop with me everywhere I go !

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, I am preparing my first album. I am hoping to record it this summer.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I am currently touring in Denmark and Germany (15 shows). I will tour in Germany, France and Scandinavia in April, and UK in May.

Last year I also did an amazing tour in Laos and Japan, I hope to come back there at the end of this year.

8. What plans do you have for the future?

My plans are to release the first album and keep on touring in Europe, Asia and America. I also plan to go to the US this year, my US manager Vicky Hamilton is working on this.

9. Where can we listen to you and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen on every streaming platform. You can buy my CDs and merch on bandcamp

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I would like them to be surprised and then enjoy my songs, and hopefully to feel good, energized after listening to my music.
