Fubar Discusses Past and Present EPs!

Up and coming band FUBAR have only been around for about a year now, releasing a very small portion of work's in the form of a single and an EP release. An all new EP that is coming up soon is expected to showcase what is to come with the band's tone of style. As they have jumped around quite a bit with narrowing down a style, but want all to hear it to know it is good music regardless. The band discusses with us their releases and what is up next for them!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Jake started this project in the pandemic, originally it was supposed to have female lead vocals and a load more members. Eventually we settled on the members that we have today.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Some of Jake's old friends and acquaintances would use it as a slang term for when things start going really wrong. Only recently did we realize that it has a military us. F**ked Up Beyond All Recognition is fitting to say the least as all of our music is essentially a mental breakdown in audio form.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re Bristol born and bred! The scene has been better in the past for live music in this little town but we intend on giving everyone a reason to get out and support local music. As for local bands we recommend Epimetheus for those who like some heaviness in their lives and Paperboy if you’re into your indie.

4. How would you describe your style?

We purposely don't try to play into any particular genre, a good song is a good song at the end of the day, why limit ourselves? I think a good way to describe us is a blend of Indie/punk/metal/psychedelica. But I wouldn't hold us to that as we’re planning some acoustic folk recordings in the not so distant future.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

As we’ve only been around for roughly a year we’ve only got a small portion of our work recorded. However, we did release a two sided single and a three track EP last year. Our stuff from last year is quite Indie Pop but if you listen to the FunDay EP you’ll get a better taste of what's to come.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We’re currently working on a four track EP called ‘Unsigned & Crap’ to be released on April the 30th. Expect a very rocky EP, this one goes a lot harder than our previous work.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have nothing planned for march as we’re knee deep in recording except a few surprise performances. But our next scheduled shows are April 15th @ The Exchange Bristol, April 24th Tiny Rebel Cardiff and of course our big EP release launch party on April 30th @ The Louisiana Bristol!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Right now we’re trying to focus on getting our content actually recorded, we have an obscene amount of unreleased material and we write new songs all the time. We’d love to play around the UK a bit more and we also have our sights set on visiting our EU comrades when we get the chance

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We’re on all the streaming platforms you can find it all at hyperfollow.com/fubarcollective.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

That we record all of our stuff live! This gives us a great energetic sound but it also means you get to hear all of our mistakes.
