Alternative rock band HUNTER GATHERER are about to release their first single, as well as have their old selection of songs online as well. But the band has also been actively doing some shows and even a tour perhaps on the horizon. Lots more is talked about all below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band formed late 2018. But the new lineup of Hunter-Gatherer began at the start of this year. From the get go we have been busy playing gigs and writing music and found our sound which we are so close to revealing to everyone.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The name came out of thin air, we don’t actually know which one of us came up with the name, it's not even as if we hunted and then gathered the name.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based in and around York, North Yorkshire. There are great musicians and bands around the area, the city of York keeps us connected to the rest of the Yorkshire music scene but there is that extra travel. We would certainly recommend from the area bands such as Foxhaunt, Heartsink, Covent, Amongst thieves, YouVee, This House We Built, Rocketsmith and many more all are doing incredible things and adding great music into the scene.
4. How would you describe your style?
We describe ourselves as Full-Fat Alternative-Rock. We like to hold on to catchy melodic choruses but then destroy them with fat riffs, and throw in the odd solo in here and there – there’s more of that in our live show.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
For now you can find our old catalogue of songs on our Spotify and YouTube channel. Watch this space, the next chapter is just on the horizon.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
As a new band we are on the brink of releasing our first single ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ so be sure to keep a lookout across our socials over the next few weeks.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We have been pretty busy this year, saying yes to any gig opportunities coming our way and meeting new faces/bands across the north of the country and to the midlands. Since we have new music on the horizon, we might feel like announcing a mini headline tour in the next coming weeks…
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
You can find us on all streaming platforms and purchase via our website at www.hunter-gathererband.com.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
I guess we want our listeners to experience a moment of escapism, almost like a relief after hearing (hopefully) satisfying heavy riffs and sing along choruses. Without sounding cheesy?
