Progressive metal act VIMAARA is a solo project, with a one single out and about, with so much more in-store there is new music coming soon. No shows or tours planned as of yet, but more music is coming with a growing fan base to follow. The person behind said project does the talking about this below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Vimaara is a solo project, thus very personal. I wrote a lot of songs for years and just stored them. I really wanted to bring some of these songs to life because I thought they were not too bad. So I decided to start this project by releasing a collection of my older songs.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
That's a long story. First, I always wanted to set a name that I invented and that didn't mean anything, I think it sets it apart from a lot of band names and help out for remembering the name (as it's uncommon) and help out the recommencement (as it's unlikely you will find anything but this project if you search the name). So a long time ago, I had a personal music project called "The Intimate Paradox". I thought I'd transform it for legacy so: "The" sounds like "V" and then I took "ima" from "Intimate" and "ara" from "Paradox", resulting in Vimaara.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
The project is based in Toulouse, in the south of France. The metal scene is very diverse and active for a middle-sized city I feel like, even though metal music is not too much represented. Sidilarsen is a very famous band from the town.
4. How would you describe your style?
My style is difficult to put in one case, but I like to think it fits into progressive metal, with influences from all sub-genres of metal and of rock as well. I also have a lot of influences from Japanese bands.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
One single "Product Of The Imagination" has been released on 04/08 and the second one "Cloudspeaker" will be released this Friday. The full release will happen on 01/09. It's a double EP called "Ad Astra" & "Ad Inferi". One can expect metal with a lot of different passages. A lot of emotions.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
This is the start of the project so everything I'm releasing now is new music haha, but I have projects for the future as I'm in a hurry to write songs again.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
No planned shows as Vimaara is an online project for now but we never know!
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
The plan is to release more music and grow a dedicated fanbase.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Every digital platform ever, plus bandcamp of course. I'm also currently preparing merch for the full release, it will be up on my linktree where you can find all info.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
The feeling of what it's like to hear the songs. ;)
