Hard rock band ADRENALINE KINGS have released a few albums, and a most recent single, with all new music in the works already. Some shows are even being booked currently with further planning happening soon enough. The band discusses about their music, touring plans and much more below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The Adrenaline Kings were founded in Vienna in 2002 by Matthias Schneider (guitar), Paulus Unterweger (guitar) and Florian Hartl (drums). After a 2004 debut album featuring a different lead singer, Matthias Schneider took over as lead vocalist and the lineup has remained virtually steady ever since. We have a new bassist called Roland “Ronnie” Verant who is originally from “Alto Adige” (northern Italy).
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Nothing specific. We wanted something that exuded power and energy, and therefore settled on the name.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
The Adrenaline Kings are based in Vienna, Austria – the music scene in Vienna in the early years of the band’s existence was heavily Indie and Brit Pop-oriented, but rock and metal have increasingly gained popularity in recent years with several Austrian radio stations catering to that style and supporting local bands. “Roadwolf” and “Metternich” are quite popular at the moment.
4. How would you describe your style?
80s-style hard rock à la Van Halen, Scorpions, Guns n’ Roses, Whitesnake, etc.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have released a 2004 self-titled debut, and a 2008 follow-up entitled “Last Days of Ancient Rome,” and have been more active again recently after a period of relative inactivity. In 2022 we released a comeback anniversary single called “M.A.S.” and we now have a new single out entitled “The Grand Tour.” All of our music is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, etc. You can expect energetic, powerful 80s-style rock with lots of guitar solos!
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, we’re always working on new material and have plenty of ideas for new tunes. We have a pretty interesting boy-band cover in the can that is next up for release!
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We’re booking shows at the moment and will communicate the dates as soon as they’re available.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We have plenty of ideas in the vault that we plan to record and then perform live – most likely a single at a time every few months until we have enough new songs to release on an album (kind of like how Billy Talent did it during the pandemic).
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Anywhere where music can be streamed – it’s available on every platform. Those who prefer physical media can contact the band directly for CDs.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Probably the combination of hard-rocking, energetic music and lyrics that with a modicum of substance and some self-deprecation!
