British rock band Coldplay, formed in 1997 out of London, England, and since have exploded with popularity and their music creativity. As such, they had to post pone their current U.S. tour for the time being, rescheduling it for a later time come 2023. In which they would come to the states hitting Los Angeles County in the city of Pasadena out at the infamous Rose Bowl Stadium, playing not one but two sold out back to back shows!
Having released nine albums to date, with a tenth likely on the way, Coldplay would draw in crowds to the Rose Bowl Stadium, many carpooling, ride sharing, shuttle busing, or driving themselves, with the array of people being from young to old within the crowd.
Packing into the stadium itself for what I attended as night 2 of the show, on October 1st 2023, was a lot of fun. The sold out stadium looked over booked, with no empty seats upon the stands or on the floor, all there being ecstatic to see the British lads finally perform after all this time.
The band would have some openers including an R&B artist known as HER, whom catching her ending set, did draw in the attention of all there, as her tunes were upbeat, and her musical abilities not only as a vocalist but as an instrumentalist did her good. She could sing, play guitar, drums, and just give off such energy it was amazing. Surely an act to follow in the years to come, because her styling was tight.
Headliners of the evening would indeed be Coldplay, whose time together been so long already, surely their performance would be just as long if not longer. Kicking things off close to 9PM, performing to close to 11PM, the extensive setlist consisted of a lot of favorites "Clocks", "Fix You", "The Scientist", "Yellow", "Viva la Vida", "People of the Pride", and "Let Somebody Go", featuring Selena Gomez not just in the song but live on stage, performing there at the stadium for all to see!
COLDPLAY PHOTOS:
The series of tracks were divided up into four different acts, act one, act two, act three, and an act four. Each having songs sung, with others having audio played over, or video footage shown, if not having costume changes, with aliens live on stage with the song called "My Universe".
A few of the songs, including the ending did feature an assortment of live fire works, shot high in the sky, as all of the crowd gasped in utter joy! The band also performed on three numerous stages, the main stage at the end, with the second stage being the circular sphere in the middle, with a third stage near the other end of the stadium.
All views of these stages were good with the giant screens to share their commentary, performance tactics and pure essence that is this band of such pride and fierceness. Overall really, Coldplay performed to a sold out crowd, of all shapes, sizes, ages, that could appreciate their music for what it is worth, in word, sound, and worth.
