Bullet for my Valentine Brings Out the Lights with a Sold Out Halloween Show in LA!

It’s been five years since British heavy metal act Bullet for my Valentine last played the U.S. of A. But tonight of all nights to play, they would come back in full shinning force! Literally the shinning force of their lighting effects of the stage show, is how they turned out, performing a sold out performance at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, California on Halloween night! Indeed right October 31st 2023 is how Bullet for my Valentine would turn out, bringing fans dressed for the occasion to others coming as they were, packing in the venue, with a line starting the night off wrapped around the venue! Doors opening at 7PM with the first act performing an hour later, two other acts remaining though.

Getting to the venue a tad later than expected, catching the last two acts, one was Of Mice And Men, whose performance was done quite good, getting the crowd hyped up. Their material being a mix bag of metal, alternative, nu-metal and post-hardcore styling, getting the crowd not just hyped but energized for the rest of the evening. Some of the songs that were sung included such as “Castaway”, “Into the Sun”, “Warpaint”, and “Second and Sebring”, to name off a few, their set lasting for a good 30 to 40 minutes, having them also dressing up as the Ghostbusters for this Halloween night too! All in all, Of Mice And Men were an act that kept a good energy up with material that was just as good to back them up.

Headlining the night would be Bullet for my Valentine of course, opening up with the likes of “Knives”, “Over It”, and “Your Betrayal”, with other tracks like “4 Words (to Choke Upon)”, “All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)”, “Scream Aim Fire”, “Tears Don’t Fall”, “Waking the Demon”, just to name off a few of the more best known songs that kept the hype going. The one thing that was hard to deal with was not just the crowd, being in the seats for one, but having everyone standing up the entirety of the show, blocking views of the band’s performance wasn’t right. With the band themselves causing a blinding effect due to their lighting set-up. The lighting worked flawlessly, it just kept the strobe lighting caused by the lights made at least for me blinded and hard to see let alone enjoy the entire performance given.

That was the total disappointing aspect of the whole performance really. Every single song, they had these lighting effects, causing these aspects, changing colors for sure, if not using a bright out white light, to blinking uncontrollably just made it a hard to watch experience. The band really needs to reconsider their set up for their next touring cycle for sure. Just a downright bad time throughout, causing their performance time to not be a good time at all.

Overall though, having not seen the band for such a long while, it was nice to hear and somewhat see them again, they put on a good performance that played out, to a crowd that have been there for the past 20 years, with likely many more to follow suite.
