Goodbye Meteor Discusses Music, Development, and More!

Post rockers GOODBYE METEOR have released an EP as well as an album. New music is currently being worked upon as well. The band discusses their music creativeness, live performances, and developing themselves as a band.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band was formed in 2019, when Cédric (guitar) and Julien (bass), who were playing together in a band, looked for musicians to complete it. That's how they met Maxime (guitar) and Laurent (drums). There was also a keyboardist, Thomas, who recorded on the 1st demo, Northtape. The covid period arrived, but it didn't stop the band from developing, the 1st concerts followed, then just after Thomas' departure, we recorded our 1st EP, Metanoia, released in 2022, which gave us greater media exposure. We continued to develop the band, recording our 1st album, We Could Have Been Radiant, released in February 2024 by one of the world's finest post-rock labels, Dunk!Records.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We're all very attached to nature, and passionate about the stars and planets... We were also looking for a name that would be a little nostalgic, emphasizing the ephemeral side of things.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based in Abbeville (north of France) ; the scene isn't very post-rock oriented (we're one of the only bands in this style), with lots of festive rock, French chanson and metal bands.

4. How would you describe your style?

We play post-rock.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We recorded a demo, Northtape, an EP, Metanoia, and an album, We Could Have Been Radiant. Our work is (we hope!) immersive, cinematic, uplifting and hopeful.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We're currently composing new music, both for live performances and for a forthcoming album.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We've played around fifty times since 2020, mainly in France, and we're planning to expand our concert schedule abroad. We're honored to be on the bill at the Ghent Dunk! Festival in Belgium in May 2024.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We'd like to continue developing the band, play abroad, meet foreign bands, record a new album, and we'd also like to place our music in series, films and more!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to us on all the usual streaming platforms, and buy our stuff on our bandcamp page : https://goodbyemeteor.bandcamp.com.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We love it when listeners share their deep emotions. Some speak of trance, of well-being, of organic music that touches the soul. These are wonderful compliments.
