Noiz Ritual Talks of First Single, Accompanying Video, and Debut EP!

Alternative rockers NOIZ RITUAL have released their first single, video, with their first ever debut EP expected out real soon! Some show plans have happened as well, with the band playing in their hometown, with a whole lot more shows in-store along with much else in the works too! See what else the band talks about below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

In the beginning there was void. Nick was chilling with Mantalena when she pitched the idea to go to a studio and jam, because Nick was only involved in side music projects at the time, and she did not like that he did not have a main band. They asked Ilias who was a friend from work to join on the bass, and that’s how the first jam ever happened. It went good, so they decided to complete the line-up with some vocals. Giannis was an old music buddy, they called him and asked him if he would be interested. And you know what? He was! So they did a couple of shows, and it all felt pretty natural to be on stage together, but unfortunately Ilias got transferred to work in Singapore, so Yul, an old friend and bandmate in other projects stepped in. But here’s the twist, Ilias never left, the band performs with two bass players whenever he’s around, it’s actually pretty fun to have two bassists, they can introduce interesting textures to the sound.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Believe it or not, in the beginning it was The Nipple Ritual. But then we thought that maybe it was kind of provocative, but we liked the Ritual part and wanted to stick with it. Ilias threw the idea to use the name Noise Ritual, and it clicked immediately. Then Mantalena added the cherry on top by spelling it Noiz Ritual to reflect our Altarnative and Nu metal roots.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based in Athens, Greece. There are a lot of really nice local underground bands here, in every style you can name, but you scarcely see them unite to create a strong scene. There are always exceptions of course, we used to have a good stoner metal scene, although it has kind of decomposed lately, but we also have a remarkable punk rock scene that is very strong. Krotalias and Junkheart are two of our favourite bands that you should check out,

4. How would you describe your style?

It’s good old Alternative rock that thrived in the 2000s, on the borderline with nu-metal and post-grunge. Energetic, groovy, just the right combination of metal and rock - if it can deliver a punch, but be catchy at the same time, it’s our game.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We just released our first single - Abuse Me - and its video clip, a sensational visual galore by art director Gabriel Varela. He managed to capture the spirit of the song and the attitude of the band beyond expectations, we’re extremely happy with it. It’s on YouTube and Spotify if you wanna check it out! Let me just drop a link for you right here:

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our first EP is also ready, we just got the rest of the songs mastered as we speak, and it will be out it in May. It will be called Embrace the Noiz and have 4 songs, one of which is the single Abuse Me that we just released.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

At the moment we are mainly doing shows in our hometown, we have a show planned for June at Bad Tooth, a cazy live music venue that we like a lot! And we sure will play a lot more shows, a tour abroad is definitely among our future goals.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We want to evolve our sound. The upcoming EP is just the beginning, it’s so exciting to see how our music will take shape as we grow. Our musical influences, the bands we grew up listening to and idolized will always leave their footprint on how we write, but we want to do more than that, we want to escape the past and build a sound we can call our own. Or at least die trying :p

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Visit us on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Spotify, just search for Noiz Ritual, there’s no one else by that name, we checked. Jokes aside, you can find some links to our social media and you can also find us on bandcamp if you want to support our noble cause, our music journeys through these tough times!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We want them to feel the groove, to let the music take over and bounce to our vibe. But as they dive deeper into our songs, we want them to feel that we’re touching more delicate matters in the lyrics, like our first song Abuse Me: the lyrics might seem to be a bit humorous at first, but they describe a human condition, the one where some people desperately need to draw attention to themselves and how they create tense situations in order to feed on the negative emotions they create on other people. We actually did a little bit of digging in clinical psychology studies on the matter while writing the song, but not too much, hey we don’t want to sound like shrinks or something :P
