Montréal, Canadian artist NYKI KING has created what he calls soul meets rock with his style of music. Releasing six albums over time, even working on what will be his seventh album to date currently! No shows or tours yet, but someday, for now he goes into talking about mostly his music!
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
NLK: I was born in Montreal, Canada in the small town of Verdun. I grew up listening to the Carpenters, Michael Jackson, Abba, and Led Zeppelin. My mother is from England and my father is from Jamaica.
My father is Eric Lindsay (aka Youth Rass-E-Mung). He recorded albums in Jamaica’s legendary Studio One. His single “Rasta Nah Run” is a classic single from the early 70s. As a child I was on stage at the early age of 7. I performed alongside my brothers as “The King Brothers.” We had popular performances in the 80s and shared the stage with Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis, John Holt, U-Roy, Paula Clarke and many others.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
NLK: My name is Nyki; my father’s surname is Lindsay; my mother’s surname is King.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
NLK: Montréal… The music scene is awesome, as long as you can get support for your material. Montréal is home of The Tea Party, The Stills, The Dears.
4. How would you describe your style?
NLK: I would like to say soul meets Rock.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

6. Do you have any new music in the works?
NLK: Yes. I’m currently working on my 7th release… and in the process of releasing my single: Running Out of Time.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
NLK: I’m confident enough to say once the single hits the radio, there will be shows… and most likely a tour.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
NLK : My future is to establish myself as a songwriter.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
NLK: most of the material can be found at NLKMUSIC.COM once it’s finalized… The alternative would be Spotify.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
