Øresund Space Collective and Dr. Space both talk with us about their array of releases and further plans, giving a great amount of detail about both acts, find out all about it below.

 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Dr Space- My musical history is quite long. My name is Scott Heller (Aka Dr Space). I currently have two bands and my solo music projects. My main band is Øresund Space Collective (DK/SE/PT). I also have a duo in Portugal called Doctors of Space and release solo music under Dr Space or Dr Space´s Alien Planet Trip. I also collaborate with a number of artists and bands around the world. Øresund Space Collective (ØSC) have been going for almost 20 years and have had 110 people play in the collective. The collective
was based in Denmark and is active with musicians throughout Scandinavia. It has members from lots of different bands in this part of the world.

Doctors of Space is a duo of Martin Weaver (Guitar, bass, drum machines) and myself on Synthesizers. Martin played guitar and sang in the underground cult band called Wicked Lady (1968-1972) as well as the Prog band, Dark. We play space rock and electronic music.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

ØSC, comes from that the band was formed with members from Mantric Muse (Denmark) and Bland Bladen (Sweden) and we used to travel across the Øresund bridge between the different band
rehearsal rooms. Doctors of Space, the name came from the fact that we are both doctors (PhD) and play spaced out music.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

ØSC were primarily based in Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden but I moved to Portugal 7 years ago and still lead the band. The music scene in CPH is very dynamic and there are a lot of creative musicians and a very active scene but space rock, psych rock is not as prevalent as it used to be.
Doctors of Space are based out in the mountains of Portugal and there is nothing much going on except what you make happen around you and with the creative people that do exist. There are a lot of cool bands in Portugal like Saturnia, Madmess, Travo, It was the Elf, Astrodome, and others.

4. How would you describe your style?

ØSC is all improvised Space Rock, Prog Rock, etc… jam music but spaced out. A bit of world music, heavy rock, jazz. We have a very diverse catalog over our 44 albums that we have released. Doctors of Space started off as a psychedelic space rock band with heavy guitar riffs but more recently, we have been only electronic with not as much guitar.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

ØSC has released 32 studio albums and 12 live albums since 2006. Our latest album on Lasers Edge is called Orgone Unicorn. Doctors of Space has released 5 studio albums and 6 volumes of our Astral Sessions CDs. Our latest studio album, Adventures in the Deep Dark Seas of Sound was released in May.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

ØSC, we will soon have a new live DVD and another studio album is planned for early 2025. Also, a CD only released, Relaxing in the Himalayas, will be out on vinyl in November. Doctors of Space, we have a new double CD out in November called Wisdom of Clowns.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

ØSC will have a 20th anniversary show in Copenhagen, Denmark in April 11-12th, 2025. It is going to be a very special event with 4 sets of music with four different band line ups from over the 20 years. It will all be recorded and filmed as well. We also plan a tour in Sept 2025 and will play the Spaceboat in Hamburg in May 2025. Doctors of Space, we rarely play live but are hoping to play a show in an old Roman amphitheater this year. We will see.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band? 

ØSC, we have a huge archive of music and meet in the studio every year to see how we can progress our sound and this will continue as far as I can see. We will probably play less shows as it has proven difficult to finance and earn any money or even break even. Doctors of Space, who knows. I suspect, we will continue to make lots more studio music but you never know…

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time? 

I just hope they say, wow, that was cool and new or different or be totally tripped out or what the fuck….. Music is so subjective and our songs are really long in both groups so you have to be into and really have the ability to just disappear into the music or you might not get what we are doing at all. WOOF Talks of New Music, Singles, And an EP!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

WOOF started in December 2023. Being fairly new, the “one man band” is the brainchild of Austen Nobles.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

WOOF stands for Wisdom Of One’s Frequencies. It’s based on spirituality and mastering one’s self. It’s also based on my past working with dogs and my enjoyment of wolves.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could  recommend?

WOOF is based out of Chicago, IL. Our music scene here is very diverse. Some bands to check out are Rocky Point Holiday, Dead Dog and French Police

4. How would you describe your style?

Indie/Post Punk.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far I’ve released 3 singles. Listeners can expect to have an inside look into my process of alchemy. I am learning how to transmute my pain into greatness. Everything comes back to the music.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes! I have another single and EP on the way.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Not at the moment. I may do a small local show in October, but no promises.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Trip to London, National Tour in a year or so and up from there.

Paracrona's Ringo Talks of Plans for Shows, Touring, and New Music!

 

Metal act PARACRONA have an album out there, with all new music in the works as well. A tour is being planned out, with a lot of touring and shows and more plans working themselves out. All of this can be found out below.

 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Ringo: Band History and Members: The band originated from a musical connection formed at the Wacken Open Air Festival in 2007 between vocalist Ringo Christiaan Van Droffelaar and lead guitarist Øystein Hansen. However, the project was put on hold until 2016 when it was revived as a full band. Their current lineup includes Audun Melby (rhythm guitar), from ColdFlesh Gregg Roland Schneider (bass),. The band is known for blending black metal with progressive elements and evocative atmospheres

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Ringo: Well, I was on the balcony when I thought about how to call it, and it just came to me. I said it out loud, like it came from another world.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Ring: That's really hard; there are way too many good bands to name just a few. Also, I'm probably not the best person to ask since I'm mostly locked up in the studio working on music. I don't get to hear much from other bands, and I try to avoid them so I can stay unique and not accidentally copy anyone.

4. How would you describe your style?

Ringo: So, our style is titanium metal—something new. A lot of people agree they can't really place us; they call us symphonic progressive black metal or black death metal,  titanium—more beautiful to look at and the strongest metal there is but with a bit of a lighter sound. That's why we're something new:

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Ringo: We released the album Sun God, and people love it. Our inbox is full of positive feedback, with listeners saying they play it every day, so we must be doing something right!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Ringo: Yep, we have lots of music in the works and are creating a variety of different songs. For the other album, we didn’t include every song we worked on; only the ones we felt truly deserved to be on it made the cut

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Ringo: We’re definitely planning a Scandinavian tour, but right now, we’re looking for a permanent drummer, which is tough because our music requires a lot of skill. Once we find the right fit, we’ll do it as soon as possible.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Ringo: Well, that’s a tough one. It involves a lot of touring, especially big shows, and tackling significant subjects that the songs will cover.

Heartsick Talks of New Music And World Domination!

 

Darknucore band HEARTSICK has been doing their thing since 2014, releasing two LPs, EPs, with already all new material ready to go! The band talks about themselves, music, and world domination.

 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Heartsick has been a band since 2014. The band began out of the ashes of the former name Know Lyfe. Know Lyfe had been a band for about 15yrs until the untimely death of original drummer Matthew Marttens who passed away in 2014. The remaining members Alfonso Civile  (vocals), Waylon Fox (Bass) , Richard Pruneau (Guitar) made the conscious decision to change the band name from Know Lyfe to Heartsick to honor the legacy of their fallen member. The 3 original members have been playing together since they first met in college in 2000 through a wanted musicians add at a local music store in Lansing, MI. 

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name? 

The name stemmed from the loss of their drummer Matt. 

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? 

Heartsick is based out of Lansing, MI. U.S.A. a Midwest city that is the Capitol of the state of Michigan. The local scene in Michigan is honestly amazing and supportive. A lot of great bands come from our state, some that have left an undeniable influence on rock and roll in general.  Are there any local bands you could recommend? There are so many amazing underground bands here. A few to check out are Let It Rot, Of Virtue, Accuser of The Brethren, Black Note Graffiti, Life Right Now, Annex Void, Hail Your Highness, Splinters, Vexatious. We could go on and on and on. 

4. How would you describe your style? 

We really don’t know what we would classify ourselves as but we did have a write up on us a few years back that described us as a new sound called Darknucore so we go with that. We are a Darknucore band. It has a cool ring to it and it does describe what our influences are. (Deftones, Sleep Token, East Coast Hardcore bands like Earth Crisis, Snapcase, Every Time I Die,) Korn, and 80s synth wave. 

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works? 

In the 10 years we have been together we have released two full length LPs two 6 song EPs and a Covers EP as well. All of our works represent a good balance of our individual influences that sort of culminate together to form that “Darknucore” sound we talked about. You can always expect heavy riffs from us and  some melody. We are not really a band that gravitates towards popular radio formats of songs so you are not going to get a lot of  music  that is aiming to be the next F5DP or Papa Roach, which are great bands but we just don’t write with that song structure in mind. 

6. Do you have any new music in the works? 

We have literally another 16 songs ready to go all done lol. We have more music than we know what to do with to be honest.  

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out? 

We have an entire plan for our 2025 year and a lot of that includes touring. A new record as well as basically a restructuring of our brand and our presentation.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band? 

World domination. That simple. A huge goal of ours is  to get to Europe. We are doing everything we can to realize that dream soooo if you know someone that knows someone…let your boys know lol.

That we have our own identity. That we are not trying to reinvent any wheel but we are also not trying to fit in to some formula. We love heavy music. We are obsessed with it but we also want to make memorable songs that touch on every subject and can be welcoming to anyone and everyone. There is no line to choose here.

Versa Discusses Newest Album and Shows Are in the Works!

 

Rockers VERSA have four album's to their namesake. Their newest is coming out just in time for the spooky season this October! Some shows are in the works as well. Even newer music is likely in the works too, plus much more in-store. The band discusses all of this below.

 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Versa was formed in late-2007 by Matthew Dolmage, Benjamin Rancourt, Hollas Longton, Kevin Grady, and Anthony Theocharis, who met at a music composition course taught by Christopher Butterfield at the University of Victoria.  They were joined by Janelle Wrona.  This lineup recorded Versa's self-titled debut album, after which Kevin Grady left to pursue a masters degree in chromatic percussion, and was replaced on Versa's second LP by Ajay Bhattacharya, who is now a music producer in LA under the name Stint.  Jesse Bell joined permanently on drums in 2012, along with Michelle Edwards on trumpet.  After several members decided to return to school in 2017, the band went on hiatus, but began playing together again during the COVID pandemic in 2021 and recorded “A Voyage / A Destination”, released in 2022.  After that release, Rancourt, Theocharis, and Wrona left the band to focus on their careers and young families, and “A Voyage / A Destination, Part 2” was completed by the core of Dolmage, Longton, and Bell, joined by many amazing guest artists.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

At an early rehearsal, Anthony suggested “Versa's Vice”, which the rest of us thought was a little too 90s alt/grunge band-sounding so we shortened it to just “Versa”.  The Nissan Versa was released shortly after, screwing up our search engine optimization forever more.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of Victoria, British Columbia.  Currently the biggest active band from Victoria is probably the fantastic power metal band Unleash the Archers.  When we were first starting out the big indie bands from Victoria were Hot Hot Heat and Immaculate Machine, both of whom are great listens.

4. How would you describe your style?

Post rock meets progressive rock with a dash of indie folk.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

With the new album, we have released four full-length LPs and and one EP.  Our first album is entirely instrumental post rock, but since then we've been gradually incorporating more vocals and progressive rock sounds.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our new album, “A Voyage / A Destination, Part 2” is out on October 4, 2024, on streaming platforms and physical CDs.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We haven't played a live show since 2017; however, recently we've been joined by a new guitarist, keyboardist, and bassist, with the intention of playing some local shows toward the end of 2024 and possibly some festivals in 2025.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I (Matt) have started sketching out some new compositions for our next LP, which will likely be recorded in 2025 and released in 2026.  We're hopefully going to play some festival gigs in 2025 as well.

Belgium go getter SUPER DRAGON PUNCH!! is a syn punk, industrialist whose talents as a solo project began way back in 2016! Since then releasing singles, an EP and 2 LPs! New music is being worked upon, with shows already happening lately, with a lot else in-store! See what else was talked about below.

 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

I created this as a solo project in 2016, writing all the music and lyrics on my own. I knew Sem, my bassist, for some time but we decided we should play concerts together when he played with his chiptune project in 2016 at an event I was also playing at. Noémi and I had been long time friends and she became my live keyboarder when we traveled to Japan together in 2017. Alexandre my live drummer joined last year and we knew each others from some metal events where I sometimes do some volunteering work.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

My band’s name is influenced by video games like Street Fighter 2, Punch-Out!! and Double Dragon 2. I wanted to have a name for my project that would remind me of those sounds of video games from my childhood.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We all live in different cities in Belgium that are more or less distant. In my city there is a small metal, punk or rock scene but not really music similar to the one I make.

4. How would you describe your style?

It is electronic Industrial and Future pop music influenced by Metal, Punk, and sounds from 80s video games.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I’ve released several singles, an EP and 2 albums. I’m currently working on a next album or EP and also a remix album. People can expect some heavier music and vocals and other interesting changes for the future releases.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, I continue working on new music as often as possible and have 4 songs of an upcoming release that are already finished and hope to finish several more tracks before the end of this year.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We just played some shows in Mexico last month and are working on playing new improved shows to promote the new album with some surprises.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I would like to continue releasing lots of music that we can play as a full live band, and travel to perform at places where we haven’t had the chance to go to yet.

The Chinaskis Discusses Album Debut, New Music and More Coming Soon!

 

 

Power pop band THE CHINASKIS have a debut album under their belts, with all new music in the works, with plans to do more shows with further developments underway! The band discusses their time together, music, and shows coming up soon!

 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members / What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The Chinaskis mix a heady, bittersweet cocktail of loud guitars, driving rhythms and huge four-part vocal harmonies, gleefully spiked with immigrant Scottish frontman Robbie Edmonstone’s acerbic lyrics and muscular vocals. Propelled by the incendiary rhythm section of drummer Bill Spellman (CLIFFFS, Ben Folds Laundry) and bassist Andy Lester (The Deathray Davies, CLIFFFS, Corner Suns) and the soaring guitar work of Nick Phelps (Micah P. Hinson), the band draws on a range of influences, from power-pop trailblazers like The Byrds, R.E.M, Big Star, CSN, Tom Petty and fellow Scots Teenage Fanclub to darker, heavier artists like Soundgarden, Rocket from the Crypt, Red House Painters, The Replacements, Bob Mould and Warren Zevon.

Named as an homage to Henry Chinaski – the battered, booze-soaked three-time loser immortalized by Charles Bukowski – the first iteration of the band was formed in Glasgow in 2009, and for seven years honed their craft on the sticky floor stages of the Scottish toilet circuit, playing over 75 gigs before going on indefinite hiatus in 2017 when Edmonstone emigrated to live and work in United States.

Debut album Songs for the Scunnered was completed in late 2021 with the help of acclaimed Dallas songwriter-producer John Dufilho (The Deathray Davies, CLIFFFs, The Apples in Stereo, Corner Suns) who mixed and added his inimitable sparkle to the twelve tracks. Edmonstone returned to live performance in 2022 with a series of solo acoustic shows across Dallas, growing his musical network in the hope of creating a new Dallas-based iteration of the band.

The Chinaskis’ first single Bought and Sold was released in December 2022, and quickly garnered praise and airplay in both Texas and Scotland, including on popular local station KXT 91.7, and by the summer of 2023 a new, Dallas iteration of the band was complete. Single releases of Wasting Away, Believe Me, Paper Tiger and Find a Hero were accompanied by a series of triumphal gigs in the DFW area, with the much-anticipated release of Songs for the Scunnered taking place in August.

2023 was brought to a majestic close with a sold-out Chinaskis Christmas show at Double Wide, and the band spent the first half of 2024 taking a break and writing, with recording, more gigs and the release of a new EP planned for autumn and winter.

2. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The Dallas music scene is hugely diverse, with some incredible local artists and big bands alike. It’s been home to legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Pantera and Meatloaf, and huge artists (who we love) like St. Vincent, Erykah Badu, Post Malone and, umm, Vanilla Ice. The alternative rock / indie scene has always been great, with bands like Tripping Daisy / Polyphonic Spree, Old 97’s, Slobberbone and others. Some great Dallas-based artists I’d recommend are Joshua Ray Walker, The Deathray Davies and American Werewolf Academy.

3. How would you describe your style?

I love the term “power-pop” – it’s about loud guitars, a classic rock ethos but with lots of harmonies and memorable hooks, all shot through with some 90s grunge-influenced guitars… and layered with heartfelt but very Scottish lyrics, full of wit and irony.

4. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Our debut album came out in August 2023 – we’ve released five singles from the album and got some great airplay on Spotify, some cool reviews in digital and print media. People should expect to hear songs they can tap their feet to, lyrics that will hopefully make them either laugh or resonate with a particular emotion that they have.

5. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes! We’re tracking some demos just now with a view to recording an EP in the autumn.

6. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’ve had a bit of a hiatus for writing and because of work commitments, and we’re currently looking to recruit a new bass player, but are planning on some big shows towards the end of the year with a bit of luck.

7. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

For me it’s all about taking the music to the next level – live and on record. We’re all huge music fans and just want to make timeless, exciting music that celebrates the decades of artists that have all influenced us.

As a songwriter it’s all about “earworm” – writing a hook or lyric that burrows into the listener’s brain and provokes an emotional reaction. I’d love our listeners to remember our songs, and the lovely juxtaposition of these beautiful-sounding arrangements with the angry and seemingly miserable Glaswegian singing over them!

Homecoming Talks of EPs, New Single, and Touring Plans Ahead!

 

If Blink-182 was brought off the Wish website then that is what you get with an act like HOMECOMING. Whose time together has had them release 3 EP's, with an all new song expected soon enough. Some shows have been played with a tour set for the following year. The band talks about all of this right below!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band was formed in 2017 by Michael and former frontman Shawn Booker. Chelsea joined on Bass shortly afterwards at the start of 2018, with Matty joining on Drums in the June of the same year. The band played with former guitarist Sam Ryan until his departure in 2022 where he was replaced by Paul Kedwards. Michael had previously played in pop punk bands “Platypus Duck” (2004 to 2011), then Viva La Revolution (2012-2015). Chelsea previously played in the band “We Knew All Along” from its inception till its end. Homecoming was Mattys first band. Paul had played previously during his college/uni years, then made his triumphant return to music by taking his place in Homecoming after starting a family.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

In the very first Homecoming practice there was a poster for “Spider-man – Homecoming”.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based in the West Midlands (Stafford/Rugeley/Burntwood and Appleby Magna). Most of our shows happen around Birmingham. The pop punk scene around here is currently thriving and incredibly supportive! Other bands that we would absolutely recommend are, Chasing The Fall, Portside, Beach Front, Roomates and Lunar Hijack.

4. How would you describe your style?

Luckily a nice commenter on TikTok described our sound perfectly. We have been described as blink-182 from Wish. We think that fits our style and sound really well.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 3 EPs (The World Will Never Be The Same - 2022, Taking The Mickey – 2023, Pop Punk From Wish – 2024) .

With our latest release they can expect to hear great harmonies, loads of energy, 80s style synth, orchestral elements and lots of emotion.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have a new music video due out now for our song DKMS. It’s written by Michael about his experiences and feelings being a Stem Cell donor for the charity DKMS. The video was recorded by Ironside Studios and is a continuous shot style video!

We have a new single currently being mixed and mastered, due out around the end of the year/start of next year, and some un recorded material that is currently being worked on!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We always have at least 2 shows booked a month, and are looking at doing a summer tour next year!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Record more, play more, and absolutely we’d love to get on at some Festivals! Victorious, Leeds, Slam Dunk, Rebellion, 2000 Trees, just to name a few!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We’d like the listener to go away remembering the lyrical content and meaning behind the songs. We’d like them to want to share what we do with their friends and families.

Acoustic rocker DUSTYBONEZ has an album out under his old band, as well as some new single's out and about as well. A new single is coming forth this fall, with a whole lot else in-store too! See what else is said in our conversation below.

 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

I was in a band with my brothers and cousins called "The Savior's Army" or "TSA" since my teenage years then went out on my own as "dustybonez".

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

dustybonez has been my nickname since I was young because my cousins were all big and I wasn't. So when I went solo, it seemed right.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I am based out of Bay City, MI. And the local scene is decent. Namely bands like Adaboy, City Limits and others.

4. How would you describe your style?

I mainly do acoustic rock. It has been described as Americana, southern rock or Midwest rock.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

My last album "Broken Road" did pretty well and features my old band, "TSA". Recently, I have released 4 new singles... "Breathe", "Ride Or Die", "What's Wrong?" and "Through The Fire".

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

My new single "Back To Start" releases 10-18-24 and was recorded at the famous Castle Studio in Nashville and was produced by Dove Award winning producer, Kene "Ghost" Bell. There a string of other singles behind it.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I am on the road just about every weekend heading somewhere to play. Winter slows down a bit but I am planning a busy schedule in '25!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I am solo at the moment and I am trying to put together a band to broaden my sound and keep recording music.

I would like listeners to remember in my music that there is always hope in the worst of circumstances!

Contortion Discusses New Music, Formation and Plans Ahead!

 

Metal go getters CONTORTION have not one but two album's to their name. As well as starting to write all new material towards newer music! The band is currently on the road in Europe, with much more shows and tours to follow. The band discusses with us their music, playing, and what to expect upon hearing their tunes!

 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Contortion, in its current incarnation and style, began around 2013, with a simple EP of 4 songs.
By 2015 we were releasing a full album, "Falseflag Paradigm," performing on the second stage for Knottfest & Mayhem Fest in Southern California, working w an underground label, and growing rapidly.
Unfortunately, most of those members left in 2016, and the next 4 years would be a struggle of short tours, attempts to write & record, rotation of members, and continuing to grow.... slowly. Stone (singer guitarist), is the only original remaining member of the band) Jason (Drummer) and Gene (Guitars) joined in 2020, and the writing & recording process began immediately. Culminating in what would finish the creation of "The Common Thread." When the pandemic began to subside, the band did all they could to tour the UK and US, often. All while working out the final adjustments for the new album. Brian Stone, (Singer/Guitarist) is also known for his work as guitar player for Mower (2010-2013) & singer for Nervo Chaos (2020-2023)

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Contortion is in reference to 2 things. Musically, they "contort" the sounds and subgenres of metal into a new form. It also is in reference to the meditative state one is in when practicing the art of contortion, suspension, yoga, or any other body modification art. This meditative state is a heightened state of concentration & consciousness.... much as we feel when playing music.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are loosely based in Los Angeles, yet, truly spread over Southern California. The music scene is hit or miss in much of California, depending on a multitude of variables: venue, night, location, bands, etc.
LA, San Diego, The Bay Area, and Sacramento are some the strongest locations for metal right now.

We have many friends that we love performing with that all bring something unique to the table.

4. How would you describe your style?

A blend of multiple genres. Any one song doesn't sound like any other. We combine Thrash, Groove, Death, Djent, & Metalcore to create something new. :)

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We currently have 2 albums available on all streaming platforms. "Falseflag Paradigm" (2015) and "The Common Thread" (2024). Expect the unexpected. Lol It's diverse, anyway you cut it. There is something for every fan of metal on our albums.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are just now starting to write new riffs and toy with new sounds for a future album. We predict this will be heavier but also more ethereal in it's approach. It will also be a legitimate concept album.... so, it might take some time. We're hoping to release it in 2026, but who knows?

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are currently on the road in Europe! Our "Unraveling Europe Tour, 2024" is taking us all over the east and south, and we are excited to venture into new territory. For next year, we are looking to hit the festival circuit in Europe for the summer, Brazil in the spring, and another US run in the fall of 2025.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

To do our best, and aim to give the music scene something unique.

The Savage Hearts' Evan Talks of Music, Show Playing, and Much More!

 

Rockers THE SAVAGE HEARTS have been a band for a short time, but that has not stopped them from playing shows, releasing music, and planning out so much more for themselves ahead of the future! Bassist Evan Walsh talks of the band's beginning's, middle's and no plans on ending anytime at all!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Well the history of The Savage Hearts is pretty short at the moment but I’ve been in the music industry for a longtime - since I was 15 actually! From 2012-2019 I was in a band called The Strypes, we toured the world several times over from the UK to USA, Japan and South America as well as appearing on TV shows like David Letterman and Later with Jools Holland and released 3 Top 10 albums. Since the band wound down just before Covid in 2019 I’d spent a long time putting together ideas for songs and sounds that I’d like to pursue with my own band project which led to the development of The Savage Hearts. The first band member I met was Darragh Muldoon (lead guitar/vocals) and we immediately gelled both as musicians and pals, we were on such a similar page I knew I was on the right track immediately! After that it took the majority of the next year or so for the right lineup to fall into place with Luke Cassidy (who I met when I guested on his That Sound podcast with Gavin Malone) landing in on drums (what a player he is too!) and Eugenio Collinassi on sax/trombone (he can also read and write music as well as being prodigiously talented on more instruments than I could name!) Along with our old pal Terry Brady who occasion played blues harmonica and keyboards with us it’s an incredibly exciting line-up to be a part of us musically and honestly couldn’t have put together a better bunch of lads to collaborate with!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?'

The origin of the band’s name is fairly straightforward since I was basically looking around for something that had a kinda mean, moody vibe that would evoke a sort of 50s/60s pop culture kitsch, like a motorcycle gang in a teenage B-movie about drag racing or general rock ’n’ roll-obsessed hooligans, which also led to the creation of the band’s avatar, mascot, spiritual guide and talisman Eddie Cruizer. There’s also a band from the 2010s who the band is very influenced by called The Jim Jones Revue, a really incredible band that combined the raunchy mayhem of Little Richard and Chuck Berry with the buzz saw ruthless aggression of punk and garage rock - they’re a band whose work I’ve worshiped for a hell of a long time by now and their swansong album in 2012 with called Savage Heart - I think you can put two and two together from there! 

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend? 

We’re based out of Cavan which is a small rural town in Ireland. It’s where I’ve lived my whole life and even though we’re all slightly scattered around different towns and villages of the surrounding areas Cavan is generally the place where we congregate to rehearse and formulate our plans of action.
Obviously since it is a small, rural area there’s a bit of a shortage of venues and facilities to create a massive scene there’s still a very healthy thriving community of people working as musicians or in the arts in general which means there’s always something creative or interesting happening locally, particularly the Town Hall arts centre and a pub called Blessings where the music heads tend to jam, rehearse and congregate!

4. How would you describe your style? 

I generally think our style of music suits the category ‘garage rock’ as it’s the central spine from which all the other genres we touch on can veer of from or is a musical cousin of! We combine contemporary fuzzy garage rock with punk, pub rock, 50s rock ’n’ roll, 70s glam, cow punk, psychobilly and even a bit 60s psychedelia for good measure!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we’ve released two singles ‘Gang War’ and ‘Speeding Bullets’ on a great Irish indie label called Blowtorch Records - both tracks shot to No. 1 on the Irish downloads chart which was a great buzz and really well received by critics and followers of the band which is very rewarding. We’re always working hard in the studio stockpiling new songs so we’re hoping to get a third single out in the next couple of months to round off the year!

6. Do you have any new music in the works? 

See above! 

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’ve had a really busy year gigging already which has been great, we made our London debut back in July at Gaz’s Rockin’ Blues and the Dublin Castle Camden, which are both legendary venues and really delivered as great shows! We’ve also hit all the major Irish festivals like Electric Picnic, Sea Sessions supported legendary bands like The Boomtown Rats and The Undertones - we actually have a second support slot coming up with The Undertones in December as well as playing Sligo Live in October and a
couple of nice shows in Dublin in the diary. We’re also got a bit of plan we’re currently hatching to the UK before Christmas for some shows which is high on our list of priorities! 

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band? 

Lots of gigs and lots of new music so keep your eyes, ears and bananas peeled!

The Crucifier's Hlias "Thanatoid" Kyriazis Discusses the Past, Present, and Future!

 

Thrash metal band THE CRUCIFIER have been doing their thing since 95 up until 2008! But now the band has returned, releasing their third full-length to date "Voices in My Head" back in 2017. Frontman vocalist Hlias "Thanatoid" Kyriazis discusses his band, their music and the future!

1. How did the idea for the band name come from exactly, did you plan it out or did it just happen? Does it have a meaning to it?

Well well back in 1995 me with my cousin  a lot of metal beers and energy we wanted to make a band with evil name  ...so we decided to make The Crucifier.

2. The band has been together for nearly 30 years, have you decided upon how to celebrate that accomplishment?

No because we really wanted to fix songs for our upcoming fourth album and stabilize the line up of the band.

3. Over that span of your career as musicians, you have had three full-lengths, demo's, and some splits, including a recent release being "Outbreak Of Unholy Death" with Hellbutcher and Flegias, tell me about this spit release between you three?

We really love underground metal and underground bands; I am vinyl collector and tape demo taker. Also I love to spread my music to cool bands. and i discover new bands with true metal feelings from the underground scene. Also I really like the other bands and we did it.

4. When can we expect to hear another fourth full-length album from you guys?

I really want to make a new thrash upcoming album very raw and fast to combine bay area thrash with hard core influences catchy riffs  and Canadian metal I hope soon.

5. What genre do you play and why did you want to play this genre in the first place?

Vocals I am trying to sing. all that time; I love to scream if I had time I really want to learn drums and the reason why in Greece drummers in metal scene are rare items.

6. Did the band members know one another before the band was even formed?

No ...only the first period the first line up we knew each other and we were friends. We are a socio political band, our lyrics are about world peace  crime against humanity ...and anti human anti govermnet, and anti fascist.

7. Where is the band based out of and what is the local music scene like there?

Here in Greece we have a strong metal scene.  alot of good bands and an excellent underground scene. But promoters prefer the commercial metal.

8. Has the band ever played in the U.S., or ever plan to do so?

We really want to play in the U.S. And no we never been there but I hope in the future we will be.

9. What is up next for The Crucifier for the rest of 2024 into this next year?

Hope to stabilize the line up, we have a lot of problems with the line up ....here in Greece it is more difficult to find members to suit to each other....But I hope to make new songs because we have a lot of good ideas.

10. Have any final words you would like to express?

 We spit on those who choose to pose, because we thrash with all the rest, for all the best there.

BRIDEAR Announce Brand New Video And World Tour!

 

Japanese metal band BRIDEAR have just released their brand new album Born Again via Psychomanteum Records. To celebrate they have also unveiled the spectacular video for their new single ‘CULT’ one of the highlights of the album.

Lamb of God Release “Omerta (Justin K Broadrick Remix)” Lyric Video as Ashes of the Wake (20th Anniversary Edition) Out Now

 

Lamb of God’s Ashes of the Wake (20th Anniversary Edition), featuring new mixes of classic tracks like “Laid To Rest” and “Omerta” by HEALTH and Justin K Broadrick, respectively, along with an enhanced version of “Another Nail For Your Coffin” with guest vocals from Malevolence‘s Alex Taylor and Kublai Khan TX’s Matt Honeycutt, is out now via Epic Records and Legacy Recordings.

In a recent Revolver x Lamb of God special issue, Blythe explained that the song title refers to “the old-School Sicilian Cosa Nostra code of silence,” and adding, “that aspect of ‘handle your own shit’ is very attractive to me, especially in this insane, litigious, whiny society we live in.”

DREAM THEATER BRING THEIR 40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR TO NORTH AMERICA

Slow Burning Car is a Rock band based out of Los Angeles featuring Troy Spiropoulos (Lead Vocals/Bass), Zak St.John (Drums/Backing Vocals), Kim Clayborne (Backing vocals), Tommy Marcel (Guitar/Backing Vocals, Aaron Kusterer (Lead Guitar).

Reigning Phoenix Music, a rapidly ascending record label specializing in hard rock and heavy metal, is excited to announce a strategic, multi-year partnership with Maurizio Iacono's Distortion Music Group. Founded by music industry leader Gerardo Martinez and avionics and tech entrepreneur Sven Bogner, RPM will manage the release, distribution, and marketing of DMG artists under the RPM umbrella.

Martinez brings over two decades of label experience to the partnership, highlighted by his collaborations with prominent bands like SLAYER,and pivotal roles in the careers of CARCASS, DIMMU BORGIR, KERRY KING, KATAKLYSM, MESHUGGAH, MACHINE HEAD, DEICIDE, SOULFLY, and others.

"I met Maurizio back in 1995 while he was touring the US for the first time,” shares Martinez. “Years later I worked with him with KATAKYLSM, and other bands he manages such as SEPTICFLESH and FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, and since have built a very strong career and relationship that has lasted over two decades. I'm very much looking forward at the prospect of this new partnership that will bring a lot of new talent and well established artists!"

Maurizio Iacono, not only the enduring frontman for death metal legends KATAKYLSM, but also a successful artist manager, has nurtured the careers of influential bands such as SEPTICFLESH, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, WIND ROSE, and UNLEASH THE ARCHERS. With a keen eye for talent through his own record label, he first signed WIND ROSE and has continued to discover and support rising artists.

“Gerardo and I have known each other for over 20 years,” adds Iacono. “From teenagers with a love for metal at concerts to working in many facets of the music industry together, we have grown in it for over two decades. Two years ago, I started Distortion Music Group, a label imprint designed to give the artist a voice and fighting chance to shine. When Gerardo approached me about partnering DMG with RPM and bring some fire power to the label, it was a no brainer for us to accept this new venture and bring it to the next level!”

Iron Maiden Announce Huge 'Run For Your Lives' World Tour 2025/26

 

IRON MAIDEN will start their RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR on May 27th next year in Budapest followed by 27 stadium, festival & arena shows around Europe. The tour marks 50 years since Steve Harris formed the band in late 1975 and, to celebrate this, Maiden fans are promised a very special set list, spanning the nine studio albums from Iron Maiden to Fear Of The Dark, with their most spectacular and elaborate show ever!

The tour includes five shows in the UK and Ireland, with arenas in Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow, and outdoor shows in Dublin and London. So it is with immense pride that IRON MAIDEN will celebrate their 50th Anniversary with one of the most notable concerts in their history.
 
On Saturday June 28th the band will perform at the London Stadium, home of West Ham Football Club – the team that band founder Steve Harris has supported throughout his life, and with whom IRON MAIDEN have a long and storied history.
 
This concert in front of over 60,000 fans at the London Stadium, which was constructed in Stratford for the 2012 Olympics and four years later became the new home of West Ham, will be the first time that IRON MAIDEN have performed on the club’s hallowed turf. A true homecoming show – with Steve Harris, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith & Nicko McBrain all born in the surrounding area – it will also be the biggest UK venue the band have ever headlined outside of their festival appearances.
 
Steve Harris says, “My love of football and my support of West Ham is no secret, and I know many of our fans around the world have shared that with me too. So we’re all very excited to be playing at the London Stadium as part of the RUN FOR YOUR LIVES tour. And of course, it’s not just London – the whole UK tour is going to be a real celebration for all of us. EchoSoul was formed in 2019 in Indiana, USA made of a collaboration of known and newer artists founded by guitarist and songwriter Guy Hinton. The band released their debut album "The End of Darkness" in 2020 and received many positive reviews all over the world.

No Kings Allowed was formed in 2023 as a collaboration between Red (guitars) and Green (guitars), musicians based in the Netherlands and Belgium, the band quickly evolved from a studio project into a formidable force in the metal community. Their debut album, “Dethroned,” released shortly after their formation, showcased their prowess in blending symphonic elements with melodic death metal influences. Spearheaded by Red and Green’s collaborative songwriting, complemented by the powerful vocals of Gold, the album garnered attention online, laying a solid foundation for the band’s growing fan base. The band later added Blue on bass, White on (clean) vocals and Orange on drums.
