Rainbow’s Backyard Bash Brings Thrash and Heavy Metal Together with Warbringer, Accept and KK’s Priest

It just so happens that every Labor Day weekend, a concert takes place out in Hollywood, California, down on the famous Sunset Strip at the Rainbow Bar and Grill. This year’s rendition of it, brought out some heavy metal and thrash metal acts together, such as Warbringer and co-headliners Accept and KK's Priest! Other acts played as well, but catching every single one was a tough spot to be in, with the crowd being in every which way possible, catching whoever you could was the best way out of it.

As such, arriving at the venue close to 3PM, seeing a line align the outside of the venue, it was hard to tell if the show had reached capacity or not, luckily it had not, so heading into this “free entry” event wasn’t exactly free, you were admitted entry with a two drink minimum of $15 each, so $30 per person, so getting in for that price was sort of a good deal. You could use those 2 drink tickets for 1 drink and 1 food item, including what was on the menu at the Rainbow Bar and Grill restaurant, or they had a stand outside with various drinks, and food options of burgers and pizza slices. Having gotten the chance to eat inside at the actual restaurant was a real treat.

After sometime had passed thrash metal locals Warbringer brought the rage with their 40 minute set, bringing the pit with them, as everyone there got into their set immediately! Mosh pit opened up, with people falling, loosing their shoes, to others having a good old time. The band kept the energy hyped and heavy throughout their set. Such songs played included “Living in a Whirlwind”, “Crushed Beneath the Tracks”, and “Living Weapon”. They brought the heat literally in the 80-90 degree weather for this outdoor gig, it was very intimidating to experience as a whole.

WARBRINGER:

Next up sometime later in the evening would be Accept whose performance was done well, except for the singer whose vocal tactics could be heard but not so well. Such songs were played like “Princess of the Dawn”, and fan favorite “Balls To The Wall”, with the whole crowd being into them, giving off a liking, to their antics and momentum given out. They are an act that everyone who was into metal was enjoying.

ACCEPT:

Lastly would be headliners KK’s Priest, having one of their members being a former member of Judas Priest, so of course, some of their songs were included in the set, as well as their own working’s like “Hellfire Thunderbolt”, “Reap the Whildwind”, “Raise Your Fists”, and Judas Priest songs like “Burn in Hell”, “Sinner”, and “Breaking the Law” to name off a few. Now their performance was solid, heavy duty, with a heavy metal classic style, think a modernized Judas Priest except with more fierce vocalization provided. They of course covering Judas Priest with a member of that band, made for them being just downright fun.

KK'S PRIEST:

All in all this backyard bash of an event was interesting enough. Would it be worth checking out as each year progresses, perhaps, depending on the line-up given. It is a fun miniature outdoor show, with acts that made this year’s outing a very fun one.
