Leda And The Swan Talks of Side Projects, Solo Project Band, and the Music Creative Process Behind It All!

Metal rocker LEDA AND THE SWAN is a solo project but works as a band, since the main person behind it all, does a lot of what goes into it all! With that said, that person talks with us, about formation, creative process with creating the music, writing, including an album out titled "Into Crimson", with a follow-up album in the works currently! His main focus is to continue releasing music through this aspect, and create even more projects including one called Thirteenth Dimension.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name originates from a poem based on Greek mythology. Leda And The Swan was originally the title of a song I was writing for my old band Carved Away, and I ended up really liking the title and decided it would be a good name for my next metal project.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Metal and rock was a music genre that really stood out to me as a kid. I always liked the culture surrounding it as well as the more profound topics that are common within the genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The funny thing about Leda And The Swan is that I always refer to it as a band, when in reality it’s really just me writing songs by myself. I have always preferred it that way for some reason.

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I was born in Dallas, TX. eventually moving to Austin, TX where I established Leda And The Swan. I’m not too familiar with other bands yet, however I do recommend listening to my friends in a band called Silence Becoming.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I’d have to say my biggest inspirations are my favorite bands growing up. Bands like Trivium, System Of A Down, and Motionless In White. Every time I sit down to write a song, I have to try my best not to accidentally write a knock off Trivium song.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

All of my songs for Leda And The Swan are first hand encounters I’ve had in life. I’d say 90 percent of my music involves me oversharing my stories. Sometimes, I hesitate to release some songs, songs like “Forever & Always?”,”Charades & Mimicry”, and “Unevangelized” are a few tracks that I struggled to write for emotional reasons, but I believe in writing these songs that I can begin to process what I went through, and maybe even help someone who’s going through the same thing.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

In my music there comes a fictional story attached to every album / ep. I try my best to write cohesive stories through sound, and it’s a process that admittingly needs work. Therefore, all of my songs have to fit the story's narrative, which takes a loads of planning. Sometimes, it’s the longest part of the process. And it’s an aspect I hope listeners will enjoy.

Ever since I began writing music I have always preferred doing it alone. Writing songs is an intimate process that makes working with me a nightmare. Any old bandmate I had will tell you that I’m a control freak when it comes to writing and producing. My process for writing tends to begin with the guitar, the instrument I am most familiar with.

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Most of my music in Leda And The Swan will primarily be metal, though sometimes I like to explore new genres. You can expect overall heavy music, and emotional turmoil, baked into every song lyric. Last year was the debut of “Into Crimson”, an album I began writing in high school at the age of seventeen, which is a main reason it sounds a bit all over the place. Into Crimson holds some of my most personal songs, and it's the project I have spent years crafting. “The Battle Of Amaranth” is my most recent release, and one I believe is a general improvement in many ways.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

I’m currently working on my second record, and it’s my biggest project yet. I have no release date planned unfortunately, but I’m trying to shoot for early 2026. I am also working on a film for my second band “Thirteenth Dimension”, and it’s looking to release sometime this year.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Playing shows have been something I tend to procrastinate on. It’s an aspect of music I need to work on due to my anxiety, but I do intend on playing my first show this year.

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I plan to get to a point in which I’m playing live constantly, as well as releasing bigger projects more consistently.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Leda And The Swan is available on almost every streaming platform. Apple Music and Spotify mainly, the same goes for my side project Thirteenth Dimension. YouTube is where you’ll find all of my music videos. I currently have no merchandise yet. However, It is something I intend on having pretty soon.
