socialghosts Discusses Playing Shows, Music, and Being a Trio!

Los Angeles, Californians socialghosts is a trio band, that had come together from an online source. From there they would go on to release music, play a number of shows, with much more shows, music, and who knows what else is next for these guys coming up soon!

1. So why have this band be a trio of all things?

We actually started off as a quartet, but our original 4th member pursued a different musical path earlier on. We still stayed good friends, but that's how we went forward as a trio.

2. How did this band even come together, who plays what in this band anyway?

We actually all met on craigslist several years ago. Connor Daniel plays guitar/sings, Sean Embrey-Stine plays keys/sings and Dhruva Krishna plays drums and guitar.

3. What genre does this band play and why did you decide upon it?

We describe our sound as indie pop meets alt rock.

4. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Musical influences would be The 1975, The Band CAMINO, The Maine, Fall Out Boy and bands similar to those. Non-musical influences would be our family and friends.

5. How about the songs, who writes them, what sort of topics do they cover?

We write the songs together; the topics vary, but some include love, loss, relationships, struggle and finding resolutions.

6. Speaking of which, tell me about the single and video of the track titled "conversations"?

"conversations" was actually one of the first song ideas we jammed when we first met! It has gone through so many different versions until we finally landed on the version that came out. The video was directed by our close friend Andrew Pino, and the story line is basically about a relationship where one of the partners is a poor influence on the other; eventually that partner becomes fed up and stops joining in on the mischief.

7. What else has been released thus far, have anything new in the works?

Prior to "conversations," we released our song, "silverlake" which we would describe as the beginning of our "phase 2" as a band; we have a handful of songs before that, but our singer, Connor, had started working for producer John Feldmann and learned so much that we were able to really refine our sonics/production/mixes just as "silverlake" was coming together.

8. Have you guys had the chance to play any shows, what about plans for future shows, touring, etc.

We've played a number of shows in California where we are based; for 2024, we are weighing potential tour options and more shows.

9. What does this next year have in-store for you guys?

More music being released and more shows!

10. How does music affect you and the world around you?

We love music and we love making it. It brought us together as people and I think it brings people together in general.
