Pop rock duo EVRWILD is based out of Atlanta, writing and recording music for a while going on to release a few new single's, with another all new single on the way! This duo has plans to play real soon, release more music, and keep up the hype about themselves and this little thing they call music! They talk with us below.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We were supposed to be called Evrgreen, but PVRIS released a record called EVRGREEN right before we announced the project.... So we settled on EVRWILD. (I kinda wanted it to be EVRWILDE... but was vetoed lol.)
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
To be honest we are not sure what genre we are, but Caleb and I have been making music in one form or another for over 10 years. I used to scream and sing in a dark theatrical band, but as I grew up I wanted to explore a softer side of my voice. It just came about naturally, and it seems to be connecting with fans.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yup. :) Caleb and I have been best friends for over 13 years. I was best man at his wedding, and I think of him like a brother. A stupid brother... that mom doesn't talk to.
4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We're based out of Atlanta, and there's a thriving scene here. We grew up playing in our local venues, and made a ton of friends. You should check out The Funeral Portrait and Glimmers. If you're into solo artists I would check out Tori Templet. Caleb put me onto her and she's great.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The Void. Lol. Caleb loves bands like: The Used, All Time Low, Band Camino, and Knox. My main song writing hero's are Patrick Stump, Mitchell Tempenny, Saywecanfly, Maisie Peters and Darren Criss. I am a huge country and musical theatre fan... so I'd be sad to not talk about Dear Evan Hansen and Morgan Wallen.
6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
I write a lot about my personal life, but I like to hide in metaphors. Everything is fair game as long as its honest. Past relationships, Anxiety, Suicide, even going on a date with a vampire... (Not yet released) We don't take ourselves too seriously.
7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Yes we do, and we have also worked with amazing producers and cowriters. Caleb handles the music, and I am the primary lyric writer. Interestingly we both are session musicians for other artists, but I almost never sing unless its an Evrwild track Caleb will come up with a strange musical concept and send it to me, then I come up with some lyrics or melody and then we go to a producer. Tons of caffeine, I think you should leave, and Leonardo Dicaprio memes and... Evrwild.
8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We just released a new song called "Mariana" and "365". Honestly, Mariana is my favorite track so far. It mixes 80s culture and emo music with vague lyrical references to Maroon 5 and Katy Perry.... its not the worst music.
9. Do you have any new music in the works?
Caleb told me not to say, but its called Horror Story and its about me going on a date with a vampire. #twilightrenaissance. I just wanted to write something light hearted and fun and you never get to see a vampire girl with a normal guy. So its funny to me. I also mention Buffy... cause you know she was my first crush. :)
10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We are taking it day by day. Nothings on the schedule right now, but don't count us out. We love playing live.
11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
You ever heard of love island? I'm getting on the show. This band is my ticket to stardom... or to meeting Emma Watson. Whatever comes first. In the meantime we just wanna put out honest music and to not be too cringe on Tiktok.
