Mixer-upers JOLLY ROX have released a number of single's, EP's, and an album, with another album expected likely within the next year. New music in the form of some new single's, will be tour, along with some music videos, plans to play shows and tour too! The band discusses all of this right below.
1. Please tell us about the story on the band and it’s members.
The band was formed for the first time around 2005 and since then many thing happened both in terms of
influences and in terms of lineup. In music industry find the right partners to build a common project is not easy but finally we have solid line up whose members pushes all in the same direction. The main musical influence of the band can be found in the 80’s glam metal but we let in al lot of influences for various genre and try to build up something new and fresh and you can see how important for us if you listen to our discography, our sound changed quite a bit form the era of “welcome to my twisted room” to our latest single “Creeper from the dust”
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The main inspiration for the name was the Jolly Roger the symbol and flag of the pirate of old. We can say that Pirates represent the first Rock Star in History of mankind, they didn’t like too much authority, the like to party, being loud and free across the ocean and they were basically romantic souls that believe life can give em something better. So part of the name is to pay them our respect. The second part of the name Rox is to claim our origin in Rock and Roll…..today there are thousand of genre, subgenre and label but at the end it’s rock and roll and the rock and roll attitude the common link that bond us all.
3. Where is the band based out and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local Band you could recommend?
We are based in Tuscany and the scene here is bit controversial in Italy, it’ plenty of band here and quite a few good ones but here people does not have the taste to discover new things! The majority of italian heavy metal fans is still stuck with the 4 or 5 big names from the 80’s, they complain that there is nothing new around but when it comes to go to venues and support local band they don’t show up in numbers. So it’s not easy to start, but once you set the right pace and people start talking about you things start to move. I can definitely recommend Drunken Rollers and Damn Freaks!
4. How would you describe your style
Our style take it roots in 80’s glam metal but from there it evolves into something new with a lot of influences from different style and a massive use of electronic. Describing our style is not easy, the best thing to do is to listen to it and find all those nuances, form punk to power metal, from industrial to street, from pop to electronic.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your work.
We release one full album and two EP plus a few singles and the idea is to release a full album probably next year. We are constantly working on new material and our main goal is to provide good music good video and also damn good shows. We take pride in doing something more than just play live. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small venue or a big festival we like to deliver a big show!
6. Do you have any new music in the work?
Yes, we have two more singles with two more videos ready to be released in the next months
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We have a few things going on but we plan to make a European tour by the end of October. We can’t tell
anything more specific about it but we will give specific details on our social as soon as everything is set!
8. What do you have for the future as a band?
We look forward to play in big venues and festivals. The live show is our natural scenario and playing live, being with our fans is the best thing for us, so our main goal is to find as many shows as we can!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your staff?
You can listen to our music on all the streaming platform but we strongly advise you to check out our YouTube Channel JOLLYROX Crew that is packed with amazing videos and live shows! Our merch is all on Instagram and you can buy it by simply reaching out to us, we like to keep it personal with our fans and supporters!
10. What is it that you’d like a listened to remember the most when hearing your music for the fist time?
The emotions! Music is all about emotion and for us is is important what our listeners feel when they listen to us. We all have different feeling when we play or listen to something but if you pay attention to what a song make you feel than you make that song your own and that is the best part of music!”
