Sailor Moon The Super Live Brings the Moon Princess to Los Angeles with Sold Out Show!



Back at the start of the New Year that is 2025, a stage show of the musical kind was announced for a U.S. debut of the iconic anime, manga title Sailor Moon! “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live, would launch for it’s first ever U.S. North American tour, battling the forces of evil, to protect earth! This official 2.5D musical based on the creator of the series Naoko Takeuchi, would be a 21 date tour cycle, this show would be produced by Makoto Matsuda (appare) and Kumiko Yoshii (Gorgeous Entertainment), this must-see event is sure to enchant fans and newcomers alike. With book, lyrics and direction by Kaori Miura (Musical: The Prince of Tennis, Tokyo Revengers The Musical), choreography by Satomi Toma, and music by Go Sakabe and KYOHEI, the visually stunning show follows the stories of Usagi Tsukino, a teenage girl who transforms into the heroic Sailor Moon. Together, with her fellow Sailor Guardians, she battles many dark forces to protect the Earth from evil.

That said, the tour would announce at first only 18 tour dates, with later dates appearing slowly but surely as time went on, including adding one date in Los Angeles, California, where a lot of Sailor Moon fans were awaiting and hoping for the tour to make a stop at and luckily it had done so March 22nd, a Saturday with not one but two shows, one in the afternoon at 2PM and an evening performace at 7:30PM. The show would be held in Downtown Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre, with the show itself running for 95 minutes straight with no intermission! Plus it would be performed in all Japanese with English subtitles, which would be shown on screen, via the scripted portions and the musical song numbers as well. 



Fans were aligned inside and outside in the patio of the theater, a lot taking photos outside where the Sailor Moon Super Live banner was displayed, with others lined-up inside the lobby, buying merchandise, drinks, and snacks. The doors of he theater would open precisely at 7PM with the show itself supposedly starting at 7:30PM but it did not begin until 7:35PM, from there the entirety of the performance, featuring endless amounts of cheers, shouts, and applause throughout. The musical numbers were fun, with lyrics being heartfelt and others funny. Special 2.5D effects using the screen as a majority of the offering, showcasing screen changes, lighting effects, to actual props used during numerous portions, that made the whole performance very captivating and moving. 





All of the cast featured did a superb job, excellent singing, dancing, fighting! It was all in check, as the story followed the first season of the anime series quite well within the 95 minute time frame. Some official artwork done the creator was shown as the title intro played, which was a nice touch. All other elements used, had the audience be very entertained, with lots of clapping and plenty of shouting; to various parts as their favorite Sailor Guardians did their attacks, motto’s, and then some.

Sailor Moon The Super Live is a condensed version of the musicals done in Japan, but this variation is an excellent summary, of not just the series, but a season, with loads of energy, meaning, and beloved characters that many in the crowd were known to grow up with, and enjoy seeing come to life right there in front of them for the first time, in this unbelievable, unforgettable, experience from a little planet called the moon.
