The Red Crow Talks of Music, Playing Shows, and More to Come Soon!

Melodic doom, yet intensity is how THE RED CROW would describe themselves. Since their formation, they have released a debut album, and are working currently on all new material. They want to play shows as much as possible, with a whole lot else in-store. The band talks about show playing, releasing music, and more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The Red Crow is a Stoner Metal band known for its heavy, atmospheric, and riff-driven sound. Our music blends deep existential themes with elements of horror and sci-fi, often exploring subjects like zombies, aliens, and demons. Inspired by both classic stoner and doom metal and modern heaviness, we create a dark, immersive, and intense sonic experience. With crushing riffs, deep lyrics, and an eerie atmosphere, our goal is to transport listeners into a world where the weight of existence meets the unknown.
The band was originally founded by Christiano Vieira in 2013, guitarist and vocalist, who came from Brazil in 2022. After arriving, he met Luan Paiva, bassist, and Gustavo Ferreira, drummer. Together, they formed the new lineup of The Red Crow, shaping the band’s identity and musical direction.
In January 2025, we released our debut album, Spellbound, marking our official entry into the world of heavy music. Since then, we have been pushing our creative boundaries, exploring new sounds, and expanding our sonic universe. Our music is built on thick, crushing riffs, hypnotic grooves, and deep, thought-provoking lyrics, delivering an intense and captivating experience for fans of heavy music.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name The Red Crow came from an eerie dream Christiano had—a blood-red crow watching from a dead tree, like an omen of something otherworldly. It felt fitting for the themes we explore in our music: existential dread, the unknown, and the clash between reality and nightmares.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The Red Crow is based out of Lisbon, Portugal. The local Stoner Metal scene here is growing, with a dedicated underground community that truly appreciates heavy, atmospheric music. While it may not be as large as in some major metal hubs, there are passionate fans and bands pushing the genre forward.
Some great local bands we’d recommend checking out are Vaneno and Gravity Trail, who bring their own unique take on heavy music. The scene here thrives on raw energy, loud riffs, and a deep connection between musicians and fans, making it an exciting place to create and perform.

4. How would you describe your style?

Imagine a thick wall of fuzz, slow but crushing riffs, eerie melodies, and a sense of doom creeping through every note. We take inspiration from bands like Red Fang, The Sowrd, and Kyuss, but with our own twist—sometimes diving into more psychedelic, horror-inspired vibes.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We released our debut album, Spellbound, in January. It’s a journey through existential terror, blending hypnotic grooves with themes of zombies, aliens, and demons. Expect a mix of slow-burning heaviness, trippy soundscapes, and lyrics that take you deep into the unknown.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Absolutely! We’re working on new material that takes what we did in Spellbound even further—darker, heavier, and more immersive. There are some surprises coming, and we can’t wait to share them.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’re planning to hit the stage as much as possible. Live shows are where our music truly comes alive—the volume, the atmosphere, the connection with the audience. We’re also looking into future touring possibilities, so stay tuned!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Keep pushing our sound forward, releasing new music, and hopefully hitting the road to play for as many people as possible. The goal is to carve our own space in the stoner metal scene and create something that sticks with listeners.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find Spellbound on all major streaming platforms like Spotify, Bandcamp, and YouTube. If you want to support us directly, check out our Bandcamp for merch, physical copies, and exclusive content.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

That feeling of being pulled into another world—where the riffs are heavy, the atmosphere is thick, and reality feels just a little bit off. If our music can make you feel like you’re wandering through a foggy, endless desert or trapped in a cosmic horror story, then we’ve done our job right.
