Hello London Talks of Music, New EP Incoming, And Upcoming Shows!

Up and coming artist HELLO LONDON or James Froese as he's know as, has been creating music through this project for a while now. Releasing music, including an EP coming out soon, with some shows planned to follow through soon afterwards. He goes into talks about his current working's, and future plans.

1. Please tell us about the history of you as an artist.

My name is James Froese and Hello London is my solo project. I have been writing music since i was very young and started recording music in elementary school. In college i started writing and recording more in earnest and began playing in many local Buffalo bands over the years. After a hiatus in my late 20’s, I started Hello London in 2020 as a means to release my home recorded demos.

2. What’s the origin of the your namesake?

Hello London is a play off an old band name from my college years. That band was called Farewell, Manchester. I really enjoy a lot of the music from across the pond.

3. Where are you based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local artists or bands you could recommend?

I am based out of Buffalo NY. We have a great local music scene across many genres with several talented and successful musicians who have continued to invest in the area, such as Robbie Takac and Ani Difranco. There is an endless list of great bands that I could go on forever talking about, but I would highly recommend anyone to check out Stress Dolls (alternative rock), West Ferry (indie emo), and Tough Old Bird (alt country). There are also so many great music venues such as Mr Goodbar, Nietszchie’s, and Rec Room that cover many different genres and have great quirky atmospheres.

4. How would you describe your style?

My style is a combination of indie alternative such as The Smiths, R.E.M., Bright Eyes and more modern emo acts like Mayday Parade, Brandtson and The Promise Ring. I try to straddle the line of those two genres as I can't exactly decide which direction I want to go in more.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I have released 3 EP’s and 2 full length albums and if you listen to my whole catalogue you will hear growth both in songwriting and production value. My first two EP’s are a little more dark and sad and that was an important time for me as an artist just getting comfortable writing music after a few years off. Starting with my album Past Futures I began to have a more upbeat approach on some of the songs and I have continued in that direction, albeit continuing with the emo undertones.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I am finishing up an acoustic EP that I hope to release sometime this summer and I also have a few full band songs finished that I am still figuring out what to do with.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I just wrapped up a couple of shows here in Buffalo opening for some great artists in Fred Mascherino, Holdfast, Sliver and Sector 7G and I am playing South Buffalo Porchfest this summer, which is an event that I always really enjoy.

8. What plans do you have for the future as far as this year goes?

My next project is to release my acoustic EP which will be a challenge as far as getting everything together and making sure my bases are covered as far as promotion goes. Then I will either begin a new LP or EP and possibly release a single or two, while playing shows here and there to help promote the music.

9. Where can we listen to your music and where can we buy your stuff?

My music is available on all streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer and you can buy physical copies on https://hellolondon.bandcamp.com.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I would love for my listeners to come away with a feeling they would like to experience again and again.
