Up and coming artist WILFREDO has been actively creating music for sometime. A couple of album's along with some single's, and even all new music underway as we speak! No shows planned just yet but hopefully soon! He goes on to talk about his song writing, lyrical context, music of course and more below!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It’s the name my parents gave me. I thought it was unique enough to use it as an artist name (idk any other wilfredos haha) I've had other projected names before this and I've always grew out of them; so this was a permanent solution to my ever changing tastes.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I never want to play any specific genre. I usually tend to write music that I'm listening to at that moment. While writing SUPERHUMAN, I was listening to a lot of newer pop-punk (neck deep, knuckle puck, stand atlantic, etc) hence the modern pop-punk sound.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I don't have a band. Everything you hear on record is written and recorded by me and my producer.
4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
I am based in Los Angeles, California. the scene here is lively and we have a lot of artists come through here. A favorite local artist of mine would have to be my friend King Cold (@kingxcold). he rips!
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life. it’s my biggest inspiration.
6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Usually, my songs talk about events that happen in my life. I'm a huge advocate for mental health so a lot of my songs talk about that. but I also talk about relationships, whether platonic or romantic, society, and internal views on ones self.
7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
I do.I start with a drum beat and bass-line. those two go hand in hand when it comes to the feel of the song. then I write lyrics to those. once I have the feel of the song along with what its about, I sweeten it up with guitar riffs, synths, backing vocals, etc. creating the whole piece.
8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
I have released two albums and three singles so far. I have more in the works and some new ones that are already sent to distributors for release.
9. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, and they will blow your mind.
10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Not at the moment. i took a break from playing shows for a bit but would love to start playing again this year.
11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
As an artist, I plan to experiment with music and explore different sounds. I don’t really believe in “genres” - I consider myself to be genre-fluid, so expect to be surprised every release.
