LIFECURSE Talks of Pushing the Envelope, Aiming High and Proud!

Metal band LIFECURSE released a new single made video for the track "Buzzard Bait", off their upcoming album "The Wolf You Feed", out soon enough. The band goes on to talking about this single, it's album, and further plans!

1. You recently released the video for your new single "Buzzard Bait"— where did you find the inspiration for the fun track?

Honestly that is one thing we have never had to do is find inspiration, for some reason it just flows out of us. We never try to force anything, if something doesn’t work, it goes on the backburner until we can figure it out. But we really just wanted something that was indicative of our band and our sound from the past 2 albums and what to expect from us with the new one. Lyrically it is about the highs and lows of life, pushing through when life has you down, and just digging deep to find out what you are made of. It is a powerful track!

2. What would you say the track means to you?

It means it is the dawn of a new era. It means that this album is going to finally be released and it means that it is just the catalyst for all the great things that are about to happen!

3. How about shooting the video, what was that like?

It was an amazing experience. We had a lot of really great people come together to make that happen. From our friend Ian who was flying the drone, to Seiji who did the filming and editing, my buddy Michael that shot behind the scenes, and Bo for holding down Security for us!

4. That track comes off your forthcoming album "The Wolf You Feed", any other tracks to come off this release to receive a single and or video treatment?

Most likely all of them! “Smoke & Mirrors” will be the next track. It features a guest vocal spot from JT Cavey of the band Erra. This video will be different though. We are going to have some fun and make it very tongue-in-cheek so be on the lookout for that before we leave for tour in July.

5. Whereabouts are you in the process of this new album?

The album tracking is complete. Jamie King is in the editing, mixing and mastering stages so we are just waiting on him now. He is a busy dude but I believe his ETA is June/July so not too much longer now!

6. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album?

It is a typical Lifecurse record. You have these powerful songs with great hooks, brutal breakdowns, technical riffing, but it is still different. The songs themselves sound more mature, developed, well thought out. There is a coherence to them now that was missing previously. We are extremely excited to get this material out ASAP and we feel like when people hear this, they will be kicking themselves in the butt for sleeping on us or not finding out about us sooner! Haha!

7. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Just to make it out to the other side. We had a lot of internal struggle and conflict in this process. We had a guitarist depart and we continued on as a 4 piece. At times I honestly didn’t think this album was going to see the light of day. They always say the 3rd album makes or breaks a band so we will see how this does for us.

8. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

So this is the first time our guitarist Matt has written and recorded everything since our demo back in 2010. That was new. We added some keys/synths, some classic samples from some of our favorite movies, some new vocal techniques and approaches, we used an eBow for some leads. So yeah, there was definitely some growth and change on this record.

9. When did you start writing for this album?

We started writing for this in 2013 when we finished our last album. That is what is great about this band. We have an overabundance of amazing songs just waiting to see the light of day!

10. How is the vibe in the studio?

It’s great, especially Jamie’s studio. But there is pressure to perform and perform well. If things aren’t working sometimes you have to step back and take a break and come back to it. I love it personally. It is where all the magic happens.

11. When can we expect the new album to be released?

We are still debating that. We are going to shop it out to some labels and see if anyone will pick it up and if not will probably release it and continue our DIY ways.

12. What are the plans for 2018 for you guys?

Tour. More videos. More shows. Tour more. We want to go international, tour Japan, Australia, Europe. Just keep pushing the envelope. Aim high!
