The Sourheads Talks of New Music, Playing Shows, Doing As Much As They Can!

Retro blues rockers The Sourheads, released their debut album, with writing in the works currently for the follow-up album. Touring will follow in waiting, with the future looking far and wider than ever! Plus the band talks about themselves some more, music, and whatever else they can think up!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We are The Sourheads. The version of the band that played on our current debut album formed in 2016. Before this various members came and left. The key members to stay around all the time are Jake on vocals and Lamb on drums. I joined the band when Jake’s brother Sid left. I now enjoy playing guitar and rocking things up.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Initially the band were very grumpy and the name reflected their attitude. In recent times we have become happy so the name isn't a correct reflection of us anymore but it's kind of cool so we kept it.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?

We tend to tour all over the country so we are not really sure what's happening in our own town. There is a big indie scene here in Wakefield but they choose to ignore us all the time for anything they do so who knows I guess they just like their own kind. We don't fit into the same mentality as some of those bands so yeah they ignore us. Bit weird really seen as we have an album out internationally and are gaining great exposure from the Press. There is The Black Mass Club and they cater for the heavier side of things. It would be great to see some unity in our hometown music scene.

Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Clown and The Thomas Wilby Gang are good bands from Wakefield. Nationwide I would say Red Spektor, Healthy Junkies.

4. How would you describe your style?

A blend of many genres of rock music. We are punk, classic rock, stoner rock, heavy rock, blues rock. We just tried to be ourselves and we are all influenced by slightly different styles of music. Stick it in the pot and see what comes out!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We released our debut album "Care Plan For The Soul in November 2017 on Oak Island Records. It's available on CD, vinyl, and digital. Our music is true, we don't follow trends. We are a rock band in the sense of how bands were in the 70's. Loud guitar, drums, and bass music.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have written three new songs but I meeting up this weekend actually to continue writing our second album. We have a few weeks break before our UK tour continues so we will use that for writing.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are currently in the middle of a 15 date UK tour. We have a few festivals coming up over the summer. We love playing live and chatting with our fans and friends. That's why we do it.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Continue as we are and release our second album. We need to get to Europe and we really want to tour the USA. Play as many gigs as we can.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our album is on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, etc you can buy the physical copies of it in most record shops or get it directly from the Kozmik Artifactz website.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We had a band who are true to ourselves. What you get is what you see. Some mainstream press have commented on why does the singer not wear a top and two of the band members wear glasses? Well the answer is simple because that's who we are. We really believe in our music and we hope other people will too it's all about the rock and roll.
