Coronation Kings Discussion on Music, Styling and the Mention of Covid!
U.K. five piece CORONATION KINGS is an alternative indie rock band, whose time together has been brief but well spent. During this time, they have released their debut album, and are hard at work upon their follow-up album along with other projects too. The band goes into discussion about their style, covid, and music of course!
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We are 5 friends that have known each other for many years as members of different bands. Paul and Mark in the Buster James Band, Frank in the Frank Morrow band, Richard in JOY and John in UK Blondie.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
John the Bass player came up with it.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We play around Norwich and in Norfolk and Suffolk. We live in Lowestoft, Beccles and Norwich. There is a good local music scene maintained by (Paul) at the Club Uniquity in Somerleyton, The Room (run by H) in Gt Yarmouth and The waterfront in Norwich.
4. How would you describe your style?
Anthemic and we play in 2 styles one being more alt rock orientated which is loud and powerful and the other being acoustic alt rock (more folk perhaps).
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Our debut Album “Cathel & Me” is a full-on alt rock album with big songs on it. Easy to listen to and quick to catch on. We also have some live footage on the internet and some acoustic works.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes we are currently recording a 2nd album in an acoustic style. New songs and new projects.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Covid put paid to the great plans we had for summer 2020 but we are looking forward to 2021 and whatever that may bring.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
To complete and release our 2nd album by 2021 and enjoying playing together at any given opportunity.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
YouTube, Facebook, Amazon, HMV, Spotify, Soundcloud etc.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Melody, lyrics and power and of course any emotions the listener experiences during the track.
