Sondag Says Lots on Music, Playing, and Wanting to Do More!
Rockers SONDAG will release an all new single, with previous content also available. They want to reach as many people available with their music and want to play live more and more once able to do so. The band goes on more to say a lot about their music and much else too.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Hello everyone! The “Søndag“ project was officially born in early 2014 in Piacenza (Italy) from me (Marcello Lega) and Riccardo Lovotti (Drummer). We were scattering the ashes of our previous band “Edema”, when we decided to create a new heavy rock guitar and drum duo.
Over the months, the family has expanded when Marco Benedetti (guitar) and Riccardo Demarosi (bass and voice) have joined the band. From the following year our path as a band has been a succession of gigs in Europe and the drafting of music material for our 2 Albums, 1 Ep and 2 singles, passing through two labels.. one of these currently our partner "Manifest records" from New York City.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The name of the band comes from my deep love with Scandinavian languages: Danish to be precise.
Literally "Sunday", the name of the band wants to create a parallel between the "day off" of the week as a moment of emotional and mental detachment from the rest of our hectic routine and our music.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are all from Piacenza, Italy. Talking about the metal scene in these areas in 2020, after a pandemic that has definitively closed more than half of the live venues and where most of the new generations have no other idols than the trappers, is really difficult. Despite this,in my opinion there are a lot of Italian underground bands that deserve to receive much more attention than they currently have, for example: Anewrage, Bemore, Slut machine, Despite exile, Zolle, Krashah, Infected, Viscera ///, Unsylence, Onelegman, Fvzz popvli (i could make a reeeeealy long list :)
4. How would you describe your style?
Being born as a combination of very low tunings and rock melodies with different influences, we like to call ourselves "low tuned rock".
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
As mentioned before, we have released:
• An ep "Søndag" in 2015
• An album “Bright things” in 2016
• Another album "stick to the plan" between 2017 and 2018
• Two singles "half" and "trendsetter" between 2019 and 2020
I think anyone who tries to immerse themselves in our sound will find walls of "low tuned" riffs supported by pounding drum grooves in support of scratchy voices and harmonious refrains.. all surrounded by a light substrate of electronic sounds.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
We are officially about to release our new single "Titans", but in recent months we have worked hard to write a series of new singles.. so surely in the coming months our publishing activity will be more intense than usual!
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Unfortunately for us, as I believe also for all the other undeground bands (or in any case without a sustained worldwide fan base), in this historical moment it is almost impossible to plan tours given the worldwide pandemic situation..
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Our goal has always been to reach as many people as possible with our music and play more and more live.
Our dream is to be able one day to support great bands as an opening act on their tours.. we really hope to have this opportunity sooner or later!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I can't say.. I'd like very much, however, to see the reaction of those who, around the world, immerse themselves in our music for the first time! The greatest satisfaction of course would be to see them shake their heads to the rhythm of the music with a smile on their faces. :) Thank you so much for this chat. :) Cheers, Marce
