Blues rock band IVY GOLD is a contemporary band whose time so far has brought them success and all. Releasing a few single's as well as their debut album out this spring! So much more has been said and can be expressed below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Ivy Gold got together kind of by coincidence - OUT OF THE BLUE. Sebastian and I had done a pre-production of a bunch of our songs. We initially just wanted to see what our songs sound like and that was it in a way. Most of the songs actually sounded pretty good and the idea came up to send the demos out to a few people and see what happens. Tal Bergman works with Joe Bonamassa and at home we listened to his band Rock Candy Funk Party quite a lot - so one evening I took all my courage I had inside of me and contacted Tal asking him if we would be willing to play drums on our songs. And guess what - he liked our music - believe me - I was thrilled! From that point on we knew we had something special going on - totally out of the blue we had a project and we decided to put a great band together, not only for the studio but also for live touring. Our friend Kevin Moore joined right after and then I asked my dear friend Sari Schorr to help me find a great keyboard player - that’s how we found the awesome Anders Olinder from the UK. And then I had put together a very special cosmopolitan band with members from the US, the UK and Germany!
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The band name kind of fits our musical path just so good. My path as an artist as well as how the band got together was never really a straight path. We experienced twists and turns, ups and downs but we always followed our hearts. So the “Ivy” part of the band name represents exactly that path in a way … and GOLD stands for my golden boys and also the golden times coming up in the future! I have always been optimistic and I have always believed in good fortune and destiny. So Ivy Gold is a combination of all of my believes and values!
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Ivy Gold is a multinational band with members from across the world. Sebastian and myself are based in Munich, Germany, Tal and Kevin are from the US and Anders is actually Swedish but lives in the UK. So we don’t have one place where we are based. Munich has had a very strong music scene in the early days. lets say in the 80’s. Nowadays many live venues and clubs are closed but Germany still is very popular for many artists for touring purposes. I guess the local scene is quite small - especially in the blues rock scene.
4. How would you describe your style?
Our style can best be described as contemporary blues rock. So it’s a mix of rock with the blues roots, all in a modern sounding production and style.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have released 3 singles so far, “Six Dusty Winds”, “This is My Time” and “Retribution”. Our debut album “Six Dusty Winds” will be out on March 12, 2021 and people can expect some great contemporary blues rock songs filled with tons of great energy, vibes and excellent music.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Currently we are in the studio recording some great classic cover songs. And of course writing music is always something that is going on at the same time - you get ideas as you live your normal life and try to put it down as fast as possible.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We have the band ready to go out on the road for some live shows and meet as many of our fans as possible! Let's hope that concerts will be allowed soon.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
After the release of our debut album we are planning on touring as much as possible. Of course as an artist you are always working on some stuff of your art and music. So right now we are recording some great new cover songs from our favorite musicians. And eventually we’ll be working on our second album… but that will take some time. :-)
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Here are all the links where you can get more info, hear, watch, stream and buy our music. Our merch products you can find on our homepage ivygold.net or connect with https://linktr.ee/ivygold.net.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I am hoping to reach out to the listeners heart and soul when listening to our music. Music is the universal language and it builds bridges amongst people, cultures and all races - music spreads so much good energy and brings a strong message across - I would love the listener to sense that as well.
