Up and coming band PLANET FOR SALE had some mishaps when they got started but has overcome those and look forward to what's next. They do have a current track titled "Rhino", with a whole lot more lined-up, them wanting to play shows as soon as possible among other things. The band discusses all of this and more.
1. So we had done a previous interview giving us the rundown about whom Planet For Sale was about, but it seems some things have changed so what happened?
A lot, we’ve had to let go of a member due to differences. At the same time we were selected for the BBC Introducing 2020 track of the day and now we have a management team. Crazy!! But we don’t wanna do anything else so it’s a challenge we’re accepting. After all, this is a rich man’s business and we’re working class, so bring it on.
2. How long have you been a band and how did you get started?
Two beautiful years full of hysteric memories and loud laughs
3. How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard you before?
If I was to describe our music to a listener, we will begin by saying we are difficult to pigeonhole. There are some aspects of our songs which could be likened to Coldplay, Leonard Cohen or The kinks. Much of that being because our lead singer has a unique voice like Mr Cohen and many of our songs relate to a form of storytelling, much like the Kinks and some Coldplay songs.
4. What was your latest release of music and can you talk about that a bit?
A little tune called ‘Rhino’. It is about Isolation which is something we’re sure everybody can relate to these days. The concept of an endangered animal was the perfect alibi for this guitar based tune!
5. What is your writing and recording process like?
Unlike some bands who find their sound - and stick pretty much with it - we enjoy diversifying into different rhythms and beats to make our songs unlike any others around.
6. Is there any significance behind your band name?
Watch the news and pay attention to the climate.
7. What is your favorite memory as a band?
Every single one is unique. This is gonna be a cheesy answer but when everyone are smiling and stepping down from the stage to celebrate. That is truly one of the greatest feelings in the world for every single one of us.
8. What are your goals for the future as a band?
We have many goals. Obviously there are a lot of hurdles at the moment with the current pandemic, but we have found that with the hiatus stopping us from performing, we have spent a lot of time reassessing what we are going to be aiming for once the world is in a better place. Mostly we want to be able to perform at larger venues and introduce ourselves to a wider audience.
9. How about 2021 what's in-store for you guys?
We also want to perform at music festivals. In fact we were due to play at the great escape in Brighton in 2020. But like everything else last year it never materialized. Our main aim is to just get out there and do what we do best. Play!
10. Where can the readers find out more about you and your music?
You can find out about us on most social platforms like Facebook and Instagram, facebook.com/PLANETFORSALE, @PLANETFORSALE, and on all major music platforms such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Deezer, apple music and others. We also have a YouTube channel where you can find our lyric videos accompany all our songs. They really are worth taking a look.
