Pop, rock, band A BRAVE FACE formed back in 2021, releasing a debut EP, with a follow-up EP expected in the next year! The band gives us a brief discussion about these releases and the future ahead.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
A Brave Face was formed in 2021 by life long friends Richard Hardy and Jonathan Robinson.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The band name came from a popular turn of phrase “putting on a brave face” typically symbolic of someone trying to cover up something deeper emotionally. Which fit with the subject matter we wanted to address with our songs, depression, abuse, addiction things that effect everyone but still people find it hard to talk about.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are from Albany NY, the capital region is music scene is as diverse as its size. So many great bands, of all genres.
4. How would you describe your style?
Pop/Rock.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We released our debut EP LOVE, PASSION, HOPE, ESCAPE last mth. It’s a 4 song EP that explores a range of topics from finding love, having kids, overcoming addiction, getting out of an abusive relationship. Some topics we take from our own personal lives and some we relate to friends and family experiences.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
We have a piano and vocal version of our EP called KEYS AND VOX coming out after the new year. And a couple more singles we are looking to release this coming spring.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
As of right now we don’t have any shows lined up but hopefully by this summer we will be out a playing, at least locally.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
As of right now just writing, recording, and releasing new music as frequently as we can.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
It’s a crazy world out there, just love each other.
